Madison Dairy Queen Broncos 9, Dell Rapids Mudcats 1

MADISON — Madison pounded out 16 hits as it defeated the Dell Rapids Mudcats in the district championship Saturday.

Dawson Bakker batted 5-for-5 with two homers and three RBIs, Matt Burpee recorded two hits, a homer, and two RBIs, Tyler Tappe had an RBI on two hits, Ty Jorgenson and Jordan Pedersen each tallied an RBI on one hit, while Heith Williams and Trey Smith each had two hits in the win. Tyler Tappe took the win on the mound in seven innings of work, allowing one run on five hits and four walks, striking out seven.

For DR, Austin Henry took the loss, allowing three runs on five hits and a walk in two innings, striking out four. Carter Gullickson tallied two hits, one solo homer, while Ty Hoglund, Josh Roeman, Nolan Burchill and Grant Olson each had a hit in the loss.


Tabor Bluebirds 17, Wynot (Neb.) Expos 7 (7 innings)

WYNOT — A 12-run sixth inning flipped the District 6B championship as Tabor earned a mercy rule win over Wynot.

Riley Rothschadl, Joey Slama, Chase Kortan, and Beau Rothschadl each tallied two RBIs on two hits, including home runs from Riley Rothschadl and Kortan. Matt Brown added three RBIs on two hits and a walk, Hunter Hallock added two RBIs on a double and three walks, while Easton Mudder and Landon Bares each had an RBI on one hit in the win. Bares earned the victory on the mound in four innings of work, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk, striking out one.

For Wynot, Scott Morrison took the loss, allowing six runs on five hits and three walks in 3.2 innings, striking out three. Jaelen Wieseler and Lee Heimes each tallied two RBIs on two hits in the loss.


Garretson Blue Jays 10, Larchwood (Iowa) Diamonds 4

LENNOX — Garretson pounded out 13 hits to take the District 7B championship over Larchwood Saturday.

Dustin Steckler, Nick Bonte and Sam Siegel each drove in two runs on two hits, Tayson Swatek and Jesse Brockhouse both had two hits and an RBI, Brady Bonte added an RBI on a hit and a walk while Trey Buckneberg had two hits and a walk in the win. Steckler took the win on the mound in seven innings of work, allowing one run on three hits and two walks in seven innings of work, striking out eight.

For Larchwood, Kyle Jensen took the loss allowing six runs on nine hits and four walks in five innings, striking out seven in the loss. Cody Groskuetz had two hits, Mitch Peschon drove in three runs on a homer while Chase Vander Feen had two hits and an RBI in the loss.


Flandreau Blue Teal 5, Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks 3

MADISON — Tash Lunday’s complete game on the mound pushed the Flandreau Blue Teal to the Class B state tournament Saturday.

Lunday allowed three runs on seven hits and two walks in nine innings, striking out seven in the win. Micah Otto had two hits, Emmot Nathan tallied an RBI on one hit, Dane Mediger added an RBI on a walk while Mason Riley, Kolby Peters, Lunday and Tristen Peters each had a hit in the win.

For Hartford/Humboldt, Caden Alfson allowed four runs on four hits and two walks in four innings, striking out six in the loss. Rayce Whiting drove in a run on two hits while Keaton Vessells hit a solo homer in the loss.


Lennox/Chancellor/Worthing Dirt Devils 7, Akron (Iowa) Rebels 1

LENNOX — Brett Duncan collected five hits as Lennox/Chancellor/Worthing took the final spot in the District 7B tournament Saturday.

Duncan batted 5-for-5 with three RBIs, Peyton Garbers, while Aiden McCafferty and Quentin Evers each drove in a run on one hit in the win. Evers took the win on the mound in six innings, allowing one unearned run on four hits and five walks, striking out nine.

For Akron, Jared Kirkeby took the loss allowing seven unearned runs on 11 hits and two walks in eight innings, striking out four. Tanner Bundy, Jack Terpstra, Christian Stekl, Dan Smith, Spencer Wardrip and Ashton and McCully each had a hit in the loss.


Harrisburg Woodies 11, Sioux Falls Brewers 1 (8 innings)

YANKTON — Tyler Mitzel struck out 15 batters as Harrisburg clinched a spot in the state amateur baseball tournament Saturday.

Mitzel allowed one unearned run on one hit and one walk in seven innings, striking out 15 in the win. Maddux Scherer batted 5-for-5 with three RBIs, Nathan Motl had three RBIs on a hit and a walk, Mitzel recorded an RBI on three hits, Kole Zimmerman had two RBIs on two hits and a walk, Mark Abrahamson and Isaac Loosmore each had an RBI on one hit, while Jack Sutton tallied two hits in the win.

For the Brewers, Jacob Glovich allowed seven runs on 11 hits and two walks in five innings, striking out four. Ian Strum tallied the lone hit of the game for the Brewers. 


Yankton Lakers 9, Mitchell Aces 1

YANKTON — Kieren Luellman tossed a complete game on the mound to eliminate Mitchell from the district tournament Saturday.

Luellman allowed one unearned run on four hits and three walks in nine innings, striking out eight in the win. Will Rauch batted 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, Rex Ryken had two RBIs on two hits, Waylon McNight tallied two hits while Josh Sheldon drove in a run on one hit in the win.

For Mitchell, Rylan Devries took the loss, allowing seven runs on eight hits and three walks in six innings, striking out three. Karter Sibson had an RBI single while Blake Brosz tallied two hits in the loss.


Yankton Lakers 2, Sioux Falls Brewers 1 (10 innings)

YANKTON — Lucas Kampshoff’s walk-off single lifted Yankton to the Class A state tournament over the Brewers Saturday.

Kampshoff and Will Rauch each had an RBI on one hit while Drew Ryken collected two hits in the win. Palmer took the win on the mound in 10 innings of work, allowing one run on nine hits and two walks, striking out five.

For the Brewers, Andrew Glovich took the loss in 1.2 innings, allowing one run on two hits and a walk, striking out five. Riley Johnson and Drue Soukup each had two hits in the loss.


Tea Steam 12, Brandon Belugas 2 (7 innings)

RENNER — Jerod Cyrus drove in four runs as Tea upended Brandon in district tournament action Saturday.

Cyrus batted 2-for-4 with a homer and four RBIs, Ben Loos recorded three RBIs on two doubles, Logan Boom added two RBIs on two hits, one double, Trey Heckenlaible added an RBI single while Cameron Jensen had two hits and a walk in the win. Jensen took the win on the mound in three innings, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk in three innings, striking out four.

For Brandon, Carter LaBrie took the loss allowing eight runs on four hits and three walks in 1.1 innings, striking out one. Jaxon Haase had two hits, a double, and an RBI while Austin Reiter tallied an RBI in the loss.


Tea Steam 7, Sioux Falls Flying Squirrels 3

RENNER — A four-run ninth inning pushed Tea to the Class A state tournament over Sioux Falls Saturday.

Dawson Portner drove in three runs on two doubles, Ben Loos and Cameron Jensen each drove in a run on two hits, including a solo home run, Jerod Cyrus added three hits and an RBI, Troy Ljunggren added an RBI single while Logan Boom recorded three hits in the win. Trey Heckenlaible took the victory on the mound in three innings, allowing two hits and a walk, striking out two.

For the Flying Squirrels, Kyle Gulbrandson took the loss, allowing four runs on four hits and a walk in two innings, striking out three. Carter Brown drove in a run on one hit and two walks while Lucas Wilber tallied an RBI in the loss.
