SPEARFISH — Bennett County’s Rush O’Neill claimed two first-place finishes and a runner-up finish at Friday’s Queen City Classic. 

O’Neill won the high jump (6-06) and long jump (23-05), while he took second in the 100-meter dash (:10.86). 

Rapid City Central won the boys team title at the Queen City Classic with a score of 135.5 points, clipping Rapid City Central (134) in second place. Sturgis Brown (66.33) rounded out the top-3 in team scores on the boys side.

Rapid City Stevens girls ran away with the team title scoring 165.5 points, ahead of Thunder Basin, Wyoming (100.5), and Spearfish (79).

Rapid City Central’s Fox Pendegraft won the 100-meter dash (10.81), while Henry Hill added a top-spot in the 300-meter hurdles (40.11) for the Cobblers.

Pendegraft and Hill teamed with Sean Smith and Onzei Weaver to win the 400-meter relay (:42.52). Pendegraft, Smith, Weaver and Brayden Jackson also took first in the 800-meter relay as well.

RC Stevens’ Jack Day took first place in the 110-meter hurdles (:14.52) while Nolan Long added a meet record in the 200-meter race (:22.24) for the Raiders.

The Stevens quartet of Liam LaCarruba, JonPaul Sullivan, Eric Morrow and Tate Van Beek won the sprint medley relay (3:36.38).

Hill City’s Dax Frandsen won the 400-meter run (:50.38) while Tate Grabow earned first place in the 3,200-meter run (9:36.86) for the Rangers. Grabow and Frandsen along with Brensen Veneklasen and Mason Buehler combined to win the 1,600-meter relay (3:30.52) as well.

Philip’s Baylor Burns took first place in the 1,600-meter run (4:30.96).

Cheyenne-Eagle Butte’s quartet of Xavier Sanchez-Gonzalez, Demetrius Sanchez-Gonzalez, Jackson Taken Alive and Jayden Taken Alive won the 3,200-meter relay (8:40.46).

In the field events, Rapid City Central’s Weiland Benbo won the discus (142-08) while taking second in the shot put event.

Spearfish’s Sam Marcus won the javelin toss (184-04).

Rapid City Stevens’ Lucas Roberts won the triple jump event (43-05).

St. Thomas More’s Maxon Speed took home first place in the shot put (51-00).

Douglas’ Brodie Slancauskas took the top spot in the pole vault (12-06).

On the girls side, Bennett County’s Peyson O’Neill won the 100-meter hurdles (:14.97).

Rapid City Stevens’ Ava Holzwarth took first place in the 200-meter dash (:25.57) and the long jump event (18-11). Iris Birnbaum won the 1,600-meter run (5:11.40) for the Raiders as well.

The Raiders’ quartet of Kenadee Sterkel, Sophia Guge, Kadance Holso and Brinna Sheldon took the top spot in the 1,600 sprint medley relay (4:24.35). Maya Khachikian, Riley Willet, Taylor Steeve and Bailey Holland also won the 800-meter relay for Stevens.

Hot Springs’ Ashlynn Elshere took first place in the 400-meter run (59.18).

Spearfish’s Kori Keil took the top spot in the 800-meter race (2:19.02).

In field events, Custer’s Karyn Ellerton won the discus throw (123-08) while Tenlee Stiefel earned first place in the pole vault event (12-06).

Stevens’ Ava Fessler won the high jump (5-02), Clare Ashley won the javelin throw (119-09) while Holly Benson took the top spot in triple jump (35-09.5). for the Raiders.
