Brandon Valley's Navarro Schunke wins national title at NHSCA high school nationals

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Brandon Valley junior Navarro Schunke (285) rolled through the competition at the 2023 National High School Coaches’ Association National Wrestling Tournament over the weekend. 

Schunke finished 5-0 at the tournament held March 24-26. Schunke was crowned national champion after beating South Carolina’s Andre Mcfadden 8-0 in the championship match. 


Schunke is a four-time South Dakota state wrestling champion and a major Division I college football prospect.

Schunke’s younger brother Elijah also competed in Virginia, dropping his only match in the 160-pound class.
