SIOUX FALLS — Brandon Valley’s Jayaunna Stroh made it five in a row.

Stroh captured her fifth-straight Class AA girls high jump title on Day 3 of the 2026 state track and field meet.

“It feels amazing,” Stroh said. “All I can do is give all the glory to God because I would not be here without him.

Despite winning the high jump title each of the previous four seasons, the nerves and pressure hasn’t gone without notice for the Lynx senior.

“I was really nervous coming into today but I just knew that I had to give glory to one person and that one person only,” Stroh said. “But my coaches and teammates have been amazing these last few years and I can’t thank them enough.

“Every year it comes with different boundaries, different people so I just have to make my way through there and just figure out what I need for this season because every season is different,” said Stroh.

Stroh cleared each of her first six attempts at the bar, surpassing 5-08 to outlast Yankton’s Quinn Brinkman for the high jump championship.

“She wouldn’t let me go out with a nice little win so I was like, I’m just going to have to clear another one just to stay in it,” Stroh said of Brinkman. “I kept my head down and I just kept thanking the Lord for bringing me here because without him, I wouldn’t be where I’m standing right now.”

Stroh also took fourth in the Class AA girls triple jump, 12th in the 100-meter hurdles and 17th in the long jump in her final high school meet.

But her track and field career isn’t over just yet. Stroh, majoring in elementary education, will play volleyball and track for Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. But is thankful for the people and coaches around her that have helped the now 5-time high jump champion.

“All these people around me have been such good role models for me which has made me want to be better and pursue each and every bar,” Stroh said.
