Friday’s Harrisburg Girls Invitational brought many of the top teams to Sioux Falls and the action was fantastic. 

In the 106-pound final Brandon Valley’s Mary-Katherine Joseph pinned former No. 1-ranked wrestler Akane Metcalfe, of Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes,  in the final. Joseph jumps into the No. 1 ranking this week and Metcalfe to No. 2. Spearfish’s Maria Kruske, formerly ranked No. 1 in the 113-pound division, also made the drop to 106 this week. If everyone stays in this weight class we could be in for some fireworks at the state meet. 

Another change in the rankings came this week after Bon Homme/Scotland/Avon’s Britney Rueb defeated state champion and No. 1 ranked Regina Stoeser in the 120-pound final of the Harrisburg Invitational. Rueb assumes the No. 1 ranking this week with Stoeser dropping into the No. 2 ranking.
