Chamberlain girls, Miller boys claim team titles at Region 4A cross-country meet

OACOMA — The Chamberlain girls and Miller boys won team cross-country titles at Wednesday’s Region 4A meet running at the Chamberlain Country Club. 

Chamberlain won the region title scoring 16 points, ahead of Kimball/White Lake (21) and Platte-Geddes (66). North Central (78) and Todd County (78) rounded out the top-five team finishers. 

The Miller boys won the Region 4A team title scoring 32 points, ahead of North Central (50) and McLaughlin (57). Dupree (59) and Platte-Geddes (68) rounded out the top-five team finishers.

Chamberlain senior Kinsey Evans covered the 5,000-meter course in 19 minutes and :09 seconds, ahead of Kimball/White Lake’s Autumn Baker (19:31) and Chamberlain’s Grace Phillips (19:49). Mobridge/Pollock’s Heidi Olson (20:19) and Kimball White Lake’s Lily Baker (20:31) rounded out the top-five individual finishers. 

Miller’s Pierce Baumberger ran his 5,000-meter race in 16:44, ahead of teammate Alex Schumacher (16:52) and McLaughlin’s Jayden Taken Alive (17:15). McLaughlin’s Wamni Kills Crow (17:16) and Winner’s Joseph Laprath (17:23) rounded out the top-five individual finishers.
