GREGORY — Chamberlain’s Grace Phillips and Gregory’s Luke Barreto captured individual titles at Monday’s Southeast South Dakota Conference cross-country meet. 

Phillips covered the 5,000-meter distance at the Gregory Golf Club in 18 minutes and :23.44 seconds, followed by Mount Vernon/Plankinton’s Abigail Engelland (19:43.31) and Suri Schmidt (19:49.00). Platte-Geddes’ Berklee Mills (20:37.91) and Chamberlain’s Ava Schindler (20:44.75) rounded out the top-five girls runners. 

Barreto won the boys race in 17:32.94, followed by Wagner’s Grady Bartunek (17:53.22) and Chamberlain’s Liam Gill (18:19.03). MVP’s Karter Weber (18:24.38) and Winner’s Matthew Calhoon (18:42.03) rounded out the top-five boys runners.

Chamberlain won both team titles. The Chamberlain boys scored 25 points, followed by Mount Vernon/Plankinton (31). The Chamberlain girls scored 37 points, followed by Platte-Geddes (53) and Ethan/Parkston (62).
