Sioux Falls Christian 71, Lennox 51

SIOUX FALLS — Five players reach double figures as Sioux Falls Christian advanced to the Class A state championship over Lennox. The Chargers will face Hamlin or Sioux Falls Christian in the championship at 7:45 p.m. Saturday.

Griffen Goodbary led the Chargers with 16 points, four rebounds and three assists, Brant Wassenaar added 15 points, seven assists and five rebounds, Britton Mulder netted 11 points, Carson Nickles recorded 11 points and four rebounds, while Cole Snyder scored 10 points, seven assists and four rebounds in the win.

Lennox’s Tate Gerdes recorded a game-high 23 points and 10 rebounds, Aiden Hanssen had 10 points, Layton Smith recorded seven points and five rebounds, while Teegan Musser recorded six points and three rebounds in the loss. The Orioles will take on Hamlin or Rapid City Christian for third place at 6 p.m. Saturday.


West Central 59, Groton Area 40

SIOUX FALLS — Connor Mebius’ 20-point game powered West Central past Groton Area to kick off Friday’s Class A state basketball tournament. West Central will take on Hill City Saturday at 1:45 p.m. in the consolation championship.

Mebius tallied 20 points and six rebounds in the win, Kolte Garry added 12 points and seven rebounds, while Will Kuhl netted 14 points, nine boards and three blocks in the win.

GA’s Ryder Johnson tallied 12 points and seven rebounds, Becker Bosma tallied 10 points and five rebounds, Gage Sippel recorded seven points and eight rebounds, while Karson Zak scored five points in the loss. The Tigers will play Clark-Willow Lake in the seventh place game Saturday at 12 p.m.


Hill City 68, Clark-Willow Lake 63

SIOUX FALLS — Hill City’s fourth quarter comeback powered the Rangers to a consolation semifinal victory over Clark-Willow Lake Friday. HC will face West Central in the consolation championship Saturday at 1:45 p.m.

Zane Messick led the Rangers with 20 points and seven rebounds, hitting five shots from long range. Devin Buehler added 17 points, six assists, three rebounds and three steals, Everett Sullivan netted 13 points and seven rebounds, while Dax Brandsen added nine points in the win.

The Cyclones were led by Chris Bevers finishing with 21 points and three assists, Sully Felberg added 15 points, eight rebounds and five assists, Emmerson Larson recorded 15 points and three rebounds while Bo Begeman collected 10 points and seven rebounds in the loss. CWL will take on Groton Area in the consolation championship Saturday at noon in the seventh place game.
