Class A Volleyball Roundup - Sioux Falls Christian takes third place with sweep over Hamlin

Sioux Falls Christian 3, Hamlin 0

RAPID CITY — Sioux Falls Christian swept Hamlin to capture third place at the Class A state volleyball tournament. The set scores were 25-19, 25-15 and 25-18.

SFC’s Tavyn Sichmeller had 12 kills and 12 digs, Meredith Nelson tallied 35 assists, six digs and four aces, Camdyn Mulder had nine kills, Jayla Overman recorded nine kills and three blocks, Allyra Dorhout had seven kills while Kinzie Poppema netted five kills in the win.

Hamlin’s Addelyn Jensen tallied 10 kills and three digs, Jade Thue recorded eight kills and four digs, Addison Neuendorf recorded eight kills and 20 digs with two aces, Jayci Trowbridge tallied 11 digs while Issie Steffensen had 26 assists with seven digs and two kills in the loss.


Rapid City Christian 3, Wagner 0 

RAPID CITY — Rapid City Christian swept Wagner for seventh place at the Class A state volleyball tournament on Saturday. The set scores were 25-12, 25-16 and 25-12. 

Rapid City Christian’s Chloe Weber totaled 13 kills, eight digs and five aces. Faith King added 19 assists, eight kills and nine digs. Miley Johnson recorded seven kills and four blocks. 

For Wagner, Brylie Link recorded five kills and two digs. Braxton Nedved and Ashlyn Koupal posted four kills apiece. Nedved added 13 assists. Libby Kotab posted six digs.


Clark/Willow Lake 3, St. Thomas More 1

RAPID CITY — Clark/Willow Lake defeated St. Thomas More in four sets to claim the Class A consolation championship Saturday. The set scores were 27-25, 26-24, 12-25 and 25-23.

CWL’s Shelby Begeman tallied 19 kills and three blocks, Kelsey Hofer had 18 digs and 12 kills, Eliza Larson recorded nine kills and eight digs, Zoey Helkenn had 10 digs while Kadee Frankfurth had 21 digs in the win.

STM’s Leighton Scherr tallied 19 kills and four digs, Enna Henry dished out 44 assists with 10 digs, Madison Boyum added nine kills and six blocks, Kelsey Benda had nine kills, 17 digs and three blocks Kaitlin Strain tallied 23 digs while Kaitlyn Birdwell tallied 13 digs and two aces in the loss.
