Class A roundup - Dakota Valley and Sioux Valley set to meet in Class A championship

Sioux Falls Christian 86, Groton Area 56

RAPID CITY — Sioux Falls Christian pulled away from Groton Area to pick up a consolation semifinal win on Friday at the Class A tournament.

The Chargers were led by Brooks Nelson with 18 points, while Tayton Snyder tallied 16 points. Ethan Bruns scored 14 points and nine rebounds, while Nathan Koole recorded 12 points and 10 rebounds. Jaden Witte and Britton Mulder added nine points each.

Sioux Falls Christian advances to the consolation championship and will play Winner at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday.

Groton Area was led by Lane Tietz with 18 points, while Kaden Kurtz tallied 10 points. Jayden Zak recorded nine points and Wyatt Hearnen added six points.

The Tigers will play in the seventh place game against Lakota Tech at noon on Saturday.


Winner 60, Lakota Tech 53

RAPID CITY — Winner used a strong second half to earn a consolation semifinal win over Lakota Tech on Friday at the Class A tournament. 

Blake Volmer led the Warriors with 14 points and 15 rebounds. Sophomore Aiden Barfuss sparked Winner with 13 points off the bench. Ethan Bartels finished with nine points while Slade Cournoyer, Elijah Peterson and Shawn Hammerbeck each scored six points.

Winner advances to the consolation championship where they will take on Sioux Falls Christian at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. 

Lakota Tech was led by Triston LeBeau who finished with 24 points and ten rebounds. Beau Donovan added 12 points while Marvin Richard III scored eight points, grabbed three rebounds and dished out three assists. 

The Tatanka take on Groton Area on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. in the seventh place game. 


Dakota Valley 59, Flandreau 47

RAPID CITY — Dakota Valley used a 20-7 first quarter to hold off Flandreau in a Class A semifinal game on Friday.

The Panthers were led by Isaac Bruns with 20 points and five rebounds, while Sam Faldmo tallied 14 points and six boards. Jaxson Wingert recorded 10 points, while Jaxon Hennies and Randy Rosenquist each added six points. Rosenquist also dished out five assists.

Dakota Valley advances to the Class A championship game to play Sioux Valley at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday.

Flandreau was led by Tash Lunday with 23 points and seven rebounds. Lunday also scored his 2,000th career point. Alex Anderson scored 14 points, while Liam Streitz added six points. Chase LeBrun grabbed nine boards.

The Fliers will play St. Thomas More in the third-place game at 6 p.m. on Saturday.


Sioux Valley 54, St. Thomas More 46

RAPID CITY — Sioux Valley held off St. Thomas More for a Class A semifinal win on Friday.

The Cossacks were led by Hayden Ruesink with 19 points and six rebounds, while Oliver Vincent recorded 12 points and five assists. Damian Danzeisen tallied nine points, while Parker Puetz and Alec Squires added six points apiece.

Sioux Valley advances to their second straight Class A championship game and will play Dakota Valley at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday.

St. Thomas More was led by Caleb Hollenbeck with 19 points and six rebounds, while Cade Kandolin scored 13 points. Ian Clewley and Jordan Uhlir added six and five points, respectively. Clewley also grabbed seven boards.

The Cavaliers will play in the third-place game against Flandreau at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
