Harrisburg 78, Mitchell 77 (3OT)

SIOUX FALLS — Harrisburg outlasted Mitchell in a three-overtime thriller to pick up an opening round win at the Class AA tournament on Thursday.

Harrisburg was led by Jacoby Mehrman with 26 points, six rebounds, and five assists, while Ethan Determan scored 25 points and five rebounds. Gavin Aasheim and Andrew Walter each added eight points. 

The Tigers will play Sioux Falls Roosevelt in the Class AA semifinals at 6 p.m. on Friday.

Mitchell was led by Caden Hinker with 29 points and 13 rebounds. Dylan Soulek and Charlie McCardle each scored 19 points. McCardle also grabbed nine rebounds. Steele Morgan added nine points and 13 rebounds.

The Kernels will face Yankton in the consolation semifinals at noon on Friday.

Sioux Falls Roosevelt 57, Yankton 49

SIOUX FALLS — Top-seeded Sioux Falls Roosevelt outlasted No. 9 seed Yankton to pick up an opening round victory at the Class AA tournament on Thursday.

The Rough Riders were led by Marcus Phillips with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Micah Johnson and five rebounds. Vance Borchers tallied 11 points and five boards, while Gabe Kranzler and Sam McMillen added seven and six points, respectively.

Sioux Falls Roosevelt will play Harrisburg in the semifinal round on Friday at 6 p.m.

Yankton was led by Mac Ryken with 14 points, while Rugby Ryken tallied nine points and eight rebounds. Jaden Kral scored eight points and Drew Ryken added seven points and six rebounds.

The Bucks will play Mitchell in the consolation semifinals on Friday at noon.

Sioux Falls O’Gorman 57, Sioux Falls Lincoln 34

SIOUX FALLS — No. 2 seed Sioux Falls O’Gorman pulled away from No. 7 seed Sioux Falls Lincoln for an opening round win at the Class AA tournament on Thursday.

David Alpers led the Knights with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while John Costello tallied 14 points and six boards. Matt Eng and Emanuel Struck each scored eight points, while Struck also grabbed six boards. Chad Ambroz added six points.

The Knights will play Sioux Falls Washington in the semifinal round at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.

The Patriots were led by Khalil Cisse with 15 points, while J.T. Rock scored seven points and eight rebounds. Caleb Hiatt added six points.

Sioux Falls Lincoln will play Sioux Falls Washington/Sioux Falls Jefferson in the consolation semifinals at 1:45 p.m. on Friday. 

Sioux Falls Washington 66, Sioux Falls Jefferson 56 

SIOUX FALLS — Sioux Falls Washington jumped out to a 10-point lead in the first quarter and never looked back in securing a spot in Friday’s Class AA semifinals. 

Mikele Kambalo led the No. 3 seed Warriors with 20 points while Angok Akot and Mandalla Mohamed added 12 points in the win. 

Taylen Ashley led Jefferson with 23 points and Griffin Wilde chipped in 13. 

Washington jumped out to a 22-7 lead after the first quarter and held a 37-24 lead at halftime. The Warriors will advance to play Sioux Falls O’Gorman which defeated Sioux Falls Lincoln 57-34 in Thursday’s earlier game. Meanwhile Jefferson will play Lincoln in Friday’s second afternoon game.
