WAGNER —- Corsica-Stickney’s Braylee Bordewyk is no stranger to the upper echelons of Class B track and field in South Dakota.

As a freshman Bordewyk finished second in the Class B 400-meter dash (:59.89).

Bordewyk qualified for the 2024 Class B state track meet in four events, just missing the podium in two of them. At that state meet Bordewyk finished ninth in the 800-meter run (2:27.97) and the Jaguar sprint medley relay team, anchored by Bordewyk, finished ninth (4:32.27).

The Jaguars also competed in the 1,600-meter relay at the state track meet, finishing 13th (4:26.26).

Judging by her and the team's early season performances Bordewyk and the Chargers will be aiming much higher at the state meet in 2025.

At the Wagner Invitational on Tuesday, April 15, Bordewyk charged down the final straight to win the 400-meter dash (1:00.28), just in front of teammate, freshman Hadynn Johnson (1:02.69).

Less than an hour later, Bordewyk and Johnson were back on the track, along with teammates Paige Timmermans and Sophie DeLange and the foursome won the sprint medley relay (4:29.85).

Bordewyk ran a brilliant anchor leg taking the lead early before being passed on the second lap by Wessington Springs eighth-grader Kenzie Koulosek. Bordewyk responded around the final turn, passing Koulesek and winning the race after a great stretch run.

That 4:29.85 by Corsica-Stickney is the second best sprint medley relay time this spring, trailing only Potter County (4:29.80).

Corsica-Stickney also has the seventh fastest Class B time in the 1,600-meter relay (4:24.00).

Bordewyk has yet to contest the 800-meter run this spring but does have a :28.34 to her credit in the 200-meter dash.
