FORT MEADE — Custer’s Brit Wheeler and Sturgis’ Ty Petrocco were the top South Dakota finishers at Thursday’s Sturgis Invitational run at the Fort Meade Golf Course. 

Custer’s Brit Wheeler finished fourth (20:06), ahead of Douglas runner Aurora Evans who finished sixth (20:23) and Sturgis’ Iris Zylstra who placed ninth (20:49). 

In the boys race, Sturgis’ Ty Petrocco was the top South Dakota athlete placing second (16:30) ahead of Peyton Cast of Douglas (16:35) who was fourth and Sturgis’ Quinn Bruch in sixth place (16:44). Belle Fourche’s Lane Krautschun (16:46) and Wyatt Balliew of Douglas (16:46) placed seventh and eighth, respectively.
