Five dynamic guards and a versatile forward make up this year’s Class A all-state boys basketball first team.

The team, which was chosen by the South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association, is made up of six big-time playmakers and scorers.

Dakota Valley’s Isaac Bruns, Flandreau’s Tash Lunday, Sioux Valley’s Oliver Vincent, Tea Area’s Cael Lundin, Dakota Valley’s Randy Rosenquist and Winner’s Blake Volmer were selected to the first team.

Bruns is the Class A Player of the Year and is a repeat first-team member. Bruns' brother, Paul, was last year’s Class A Player of the Year. Isaac Bruns, a 6-foot-4 junior guard, powered Dakota Valley to the Class A state championship. He averaged 24.2 points and nine rebounds per game for the undefeated Panthers. A 1,000-point scorer, Bruns was also an all-tourney selection at the state tournament.

Lunday is making his third straight all-state team. He was a third team selection last year and was a second-team honoree in 2020. A 6-foot-5 senior forward, Lunday averaged 24.1 points, 9.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. He guided the Fliers to a fourth-place finish at the state tourney, where he also received the prestigious Spirit of Su award. Lunday finished as the state’s 39th all-time leading scorer in boys basketball history with 2,021 career points.

Vincent is also a repeat first-team member. The 6-foot-1 junior guard guided the Cossacks to a Class A runner-up finish for the second straight season. Vincent registered 17.5 points, 6.8 assists and four rebounds per game. He scored his 1,000th career point earlier this season.

Lundin lands on the first team after earning third-team honors as a junior. The Tea Area guard recorded 20 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game, while posting 55 steals. Lundin, who will play college basketball at NAIA Northwestern College, scored his 1,000th point this season.

Rosenquist lands on his first all-state team. The 6-foot junior point guard orchestrated Dakota Valley’s offensive attack, while also defending at a high level. He averaged 12.7 points, 7.7 assists and 5.6 rebounds per game, while racking up 106 steals.

Volmer rounds out the first team and is making his initial all-state team. The 6-foot-3 junior guard led the Warriors to a sixth-place finish at the state tournament, while he earned all-tourney honors. He averaged 16.6 points, 8.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.

Lennox’s Porter Ihnen, Mount Vernon/Plankinton’s Reed Rus, St. Thomas More’s Cade Kandolin, St. Thomas More’s Caleb Hollenbeck, Dell Rapids’ Brayden Pankonen and Sioux Falls Christian’s Ethan Bruns were second-team all-staters.

Flandreau’s Chase LeBrun, Sioux Valley’s Hayden Ruesink, Cheyenne-Eagle Butte’s Rance Harrison, West Central’s Grafton Stroup, Stanley County’s Lathan Prince, Tea Area’s Jeff Worth and Parker’s Carter Robertson were third-team all-staters.
