Brandon Valley wins Floyd Farrand Invitational

SIOUX FALLS – Brandon Valley looked every bit the No. 1 ranked team in Class A wrestling as the Lynx finished with 218 points, finishing ahead of second-place Watertown (191.5) and third place Harrisburg (176.5). Sturgis (137) and Wagner (119) rounded out the top-five. 

Brandon Valley’s Jordon Oehme (126), Alex Mentzer (138), Damion Schunke (195) and Navarro Schunke (285) claimed individual titles.

Other individual champs included Wagner’s Karstyn Lhotak (106), Watertown’s Sloan Johannsen (113), Tea Area’s Maddix Slykhuis (120), Harrisburg’s Korbyn Ockenga (132), Sioux Falls O’Gorman’s Keenan Sheridan (145), Spearfish’s Clayton Donovan (152), Brookings athlete Tyson Brandt (160), Sturgis’s Reese Jacobs (170), Harrisburg’s Ryan Hirschkorn (182) and Brookings’ Luke Rasmussen (220)

Pipestone, Minnesota captures Webster Invitational

WEBSTER – Pipestone, Minnesota finished with 140 points, finishing ahead of second-place Clark/Willow Lake (136.5) and third place Sisseton (124.5). Border West, Minnesota (121.5) and Sioux Valley (102.5) rounded out the top-five. 

Pipestone’s JJ Martens (120), Hudson Burnett (126) claimed titles for Pipestone. Clark/ Willow Lake’s Gunnar Kvistad (152), Lucas Kannegieter (182) and Kasey Michalski (195) also earned individual titles. 

Other individual champs included Sioux Valley’s Tate Steffensen (106), Border West’s Cole Sykora (113), Border West’s Eli Larson (132), Webster Area’s Cael Larson (138), Groton Area’s Christian Ehresmann (145), Sioux Valley’s Russell Sheets (160), Sioux Valley’s Joe Hornick (170), Webster Area’s Caleb McGregor (220) and Sisseton’s Ethan Skarnagel (285)

Tournament notes: 

Webster Area’s Cael Larson, Class B’s No. 3 rated wrestler at (145) dropped to (138) this week. He remained undefeated (16-0) by pinning Pipestone’s Nate Bobendrier (4:48) in the finals. 

Clark/Willow Lake’s Lucas Kannegieter, Class B’s No. 5 ranked wrestler, pinned his way to a title with a fall over Aiden Voss of Pipestone (Fall :54)

BUFFALO — Hettinger/Scranton, North Dakota finished with 244.5 points, finishing ahead of second-place Kildeer, North Dakota (169) and third place Rapid City Central JV (165). Sturgis Brown JV (128) and Belle Fourche (126) rounded out the top-five. 

Peyton Tuhy (126), Jaron Frank (132), Cade Warbis (138), Connor Andress (160), Landon Strang (170), Tristan Pekas (182) all won individual titles for Hettinger/Scranton.
