Dec. 28 Basketball Roundup - Jones County boys clip Burke in Thursday action

Jones County 61, Burke 53

BURKE — Three players reached double figures as the Jones County boys picked up a road win over Burke in Thursday night basketball action. 

Gunnar Whitney powered the Jones County attack with 17 points and eight rebounds. Kaden Kiinsley added 15 points and three assists for the Coyotes. Bryer Kinsley pumped in 11 points while Adrik Schoon led the team with nine rebounds. 

Reed Benter led Burke with 22 points while Bryce Bartling chipped in with 10 points. 


Milbank 57, LQPV, Minn 46

MILBANK — Garrett Mertens and Jackson Wildung combined for 42 points as Milbank picked up a win over Lac qui Parle Valley, Minnesota in boys basketball action Thursday. 

Mertens finished with 27 points, four assists and two rebounds. Wildung added 15 points, one steal and two rebounds. Joe Schulte chipped in with six points and nine rebounds. 

Kaden Mulder paced LQPV with 20 points, four rebounds, one block and one steal. 


O’Gorman 61, Tea Area 38

TEA — A big night from Henry Theobald helped O’Gorman power past Tea Area for a win in Thursday night basketball actions. 

Theobald hit 6 3-pointers on his way to a game high 18 points. Nyun Dut added 11 points. Four rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Austin Terveen chipped in with eight points, three rebounds and two assists while Caleb Terveen came off the bench to add seven points. 

Jessen Wiebenga led Tea Area with 18 points. Sam Almas added five points and Boston Willemssen chipped in with four points. 


Girls Basketball Roundup

Burke 59, Jones County 36

BURKE — The Burke girls used a balanced scoring attack to knock off Jones County in girls basketball action Thursday. 

Paige Bull powered Burke Saturday with 15 points and five rebounds. Emmie Hausmann added 13 points, four assists and four steals. Piper Hanson finished with nine points while Olivia Bull led with seven rebounds. 

Aubrey Tucker led Jones County with 11 points. Jacey Jensen added six points and six rebounds while Sunny Valburg had three rebounds, two assists and five steals.
