IRENE — The Dell Rapids St. Mary girls and Irene-Wakonda boys won the team titles at the Region 2B cross-country meet Wednesday at Glenridge Golf Course.

St. Mary led the girls team scores posting a final number of 22, Centerville came in second place at 29 and Arlington took third place with a score of 32. Individually, Chester’s Emmerson Eppard won the 5,000-meter race finishing with a time of 20:40.58. Sioux Falls Lutheran’s Clara Pederson took second place with a final time of 20:50.46, while Centerville’s Annalisa Stake (20:56.75) took third place. Irene-Wakonda’s Ava George (21:03.29) and Arlington’s Kaelyn Ulschmid (21:08.51) rounded out the top-5 individual runners.

In the boys scores, Irene-Wakonda ran away with the team title posting a score of 24, followed by Sioux Falls Lutheran (33) and Flandreau Indian (34). Sioux Falls Lutheran’s Noah Baumbach clipped Canistota’s Caleb Schroeder (18:18.51) for first place individually, finishing the race in 18:14.43. Arlington’s Karsten Lerwick (18:30.02) took third place, Gayville-Volin’s Gram Messler (18:37.15) finished in fourth place, while Iroquois/Lake Preston’s Case Carlson (18:40.72) rounded out the top-5.
