DEADWOOD —- The Sturgis girls and boys claimed cross-country titles Tuesday on a 4,000-meter course at the Tomahawk Country Club.

The Sturgis girls racked up 20 points, well ahead of Lemmon (52) and Douglas (53). The Sturgis boys amassed 18 points, ahead of Douglas (43) and Little Wound (82) 

Individually, Kira Ubence of Douglas won the girls title (17:06) and Sturgis’ Ty Petrocco won the boys race (13:25).

Dakota Valley cross-country teams sweep titles at Dakota Valley Invitational

NORTH SIOUX CITY —- The Dakota Valley boys and girls cross-country teams swept the team titles at Tuesday’s Dakota Valley Invitational run at the Adams Homestead and State Nature Preserve. 

The Dakota Valley boys easily won the team race scoring 16 points, ahead of Sioux City East (32) and Beresford (40). Lawton-Bronson, Iowa (52) and Canton (83) rounded out the top five boys teams. 

The Dakota Valley girls racked up 13 points to win the girls team title, well ahead of Canton (41) and Sioux City East (50). Lawton-Bronson (58) and Sioux City West (69) rounded out the top-five teams. 

Dakota Valley athletes Jack Brown (16:54) and Sophia Redler (20:24) won individual titles at Tuesday’s race.
