Flandreau’s Faith Wiese, Garretson’s Carter Siemonsma win titles at Big East Conference meet

VOLGA — Flandreau’s Faith Wiese and Garretson’s Carter Siemonsma captured titles at Thursday’s Big East Conference cross-country meet. 

Wiese covered the 5,000-meter distance in 18 minutes and :44.98 seconds, followed by Chester’s Emmerson Eppard (20:24.15) and Flandreau’s Calla Wiese (20:35.26). Sioux Valley’s Maci Licht (21:02.26) and Amia Ward (21:08.29) rounded out the top-five girls runners.

Siemonsma won the boys race in 17:49.44, followed by Sioux Valley’s Carson Wosje (18:08.88) and Garretson’s Ethan McGregor (18:23.14). Garretson’s Nathaneal Roberts (18:33.66) and Flandreau’s Logan Kontz (18:37.15) rounded out the top-five boys runners. 

Garretson won the boys team title with 21 points, followed by Beresford (41) and Flandreau (42). Sioux Valley won the girls team title with 22 points, followed by Flandreau (26) and Beresford (42).
