Freeman sweeps team titles at Cornbelt Conference meet

ALEXANDRIA — The Freeman Flyers swept the team titles at Thursday’s Cornbelt Conference meet.

The boys team scored 159 points to win the title, ahead of Viborg-Hurley (119.5) and Hanson (106). The girls team won the title with 153 points, clipping Canistota (134.5) and Irene-Wakonda (131).

On the boys’ side, Viborg-Hurley’s Godwin Johnson won the 100-meter dash (:11.29).

Bridgewater-Emery’s Holden Wollmann captured the 200-meter dash (:23.59) and the 400-meter dash (:50.15).

Freeman’s Luke Miller captured the 800-meter run (2:04.95).

Scotland/Menno’s Izayah Ulmer won the 1,600-meter run (4:52.55).

Freeman’s Lane McCune secured the 3,200-meter run (10:54.86).

VH’s Lincoln Vannorsdel won the 110-meter hurdles (:16.25) and the 300-meter hurdles (:43.14).

Hanson’s Carter Endorf, Cole Dewald, Stetson Riggs and Jett Jager won the 400-meter relay (:45.60).

Freeman’s Luke Peters, Miller, Brody Sorensen and Tate Sorensen captured the 800-meter relay (1:33.00) and the 1,600-meter relay (3:33.72).

Scotland/Menno’s Jaxon Stoebner, RIley Keppen, Luke Bierle and Mirik Vaith won the 1,600-meter sprint medley relay (4:09.96) while Vaith, CJ Bjorum, Bierle and Ulmer won the 3,200-meter relay (9:27.47).

In the field events, Irene-Wakonda’s Cain Healy captured the shot put title (47-07.00) and the discus (137-06).

Freeman’s Alaric Knittel won the javelin throw (163-11).

VH’s Andrew Madsen won the high jump (6-00).

IW’s Jordan Stockland won the pole vault (12-00).

Hanson’s Jason Porth secured the long jump title (20-08.50).

In the girls’ meet, Freeman’s Vaida Amman won the 100-meter dash (:12.99).

Howard’s Brooklyn Becker won the 200-meter dash (:27.63).

Freeman’s Landrei Baker won the 400-meter dash (1:01.32).

Irene-Wakonda’s Ava George captured the 800-meter run (2:31.03) and the 1,600-meter run (5:40.76).

Scotland/Menno’s Zoe Schaeffer won the 3,200-meter run (13:41.63).

Freeman’s Rylee Peters captured the 100-meter hurdles (:15.09) and the 300-meter hurdles (:47.75).

Freeman’s Makenzie Scharberg, Peters, Baker and Ammann won the 400-meter relay (:51.39) while Cadence Hofer, Peters, Baker and Ammann secured the 800-meter relay (1:48.96). Hofer, Baker, Penny Schultz and Ammann secured the 1,600-meter relay (4:21.67) as well.

Irene-Wakonda’s Rose Libby, Maryn Lyngstad, Alexa Matthews and George won the 3,200-meter relay (10:46.91).

Hanson’s Lacey Easton, Brooklyn Schroeder, Hannah Easton and Ella Jager captured the 1,600-meter sprint medley relay (4:50.93).

In the field events, IW’s Bella Healy won the shot put title (32-03.00), Lanie Van Beek won the discus throw (98-04).

Viborg-Hurley’s Ava Marts captured the javelin throw (105-03).

VH’s Olivia Hanson won the high jump (4-06).

IW’s Callie Peterson won the pole vault (8-00).

Freeman’s Hofer captured the long jump (16-01.00) and the triple jump (33-09.00) titles.
