Golfers from Harrisburg, Tea Area to compete at Boys High School Golf National Invitational in Texas

FRISCO, Texas — Six South Dakota golfers will compete at the 2023 Boys High School Golf National Invitational on July 17-19 at PGA Frisco. 

The invite-only tournament field will be made up of the top high school golfers across the country competing at the “Modern Home of American Golf.” Tea Area’s Keeton Newborg and Harrisburg’s Parker Schultz, Will Parsons, Charlie Swift, Hayden Scott and Riley Christensen will compete at the prestigious event. 

Teams and individuals will receive invites based on state championship performances. The Invitational brings together a wide variety of golfers from nearly all 50 states.

The state championship winning teams may receive an invitation provided they meet the NHSGA qualifying standards based on field availability. Harrisburg won the 2022 Class AA state championship, while Christensen won the individual title. 

The state championship medalists may receive an invitation provided they meet the NHSGA qualifying standards based on field availability. Newborg won the 2022 Class A individual state championship for the Titans. 

The Boys Invitational is a 3-day, 54 hole stroke play event including team and individual competition. Competition rounds will take place on the PGA Frisco campus – Fields Ranch-East, Fields Ranch-West as well as The Tribute Golf Links.

PGA Frisco campus hosted the nationally-televised 2023 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship in May. In addition, it will host the 2025 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and the 2027 PGA Championship. The Tribute Golf Links is designed as a tribute to some of the most famous and challenging holes in all of Scotland.
