Ipswich boys, Warner girls capture Lake Region Conference titles

IPSWICH — The Warner girls and Ipswich boys won team titles at Tuesday’s Lake Region Conference track and field meet. 

The Warner girls recorded 159.5 points, finishing ahead of Ipswich (156) and North Central (98.5). 

The Ipswich boys amassed 175.5 points, finishing ahead of Warner (100.5) and North Central (99.5). 

In boys action, Ipswich finished first-through-third in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. Ipswich’s Trevor Heinz won the 100-meter dash (:11.45), followed by Kyle Hettich (:11.45) and Casey Geditz (:11.73). Ipswich’s Maxwell Kulesa won the 200-meter dash (:24.31), followed by Hettich (:24.32) and Heinz (:24.81). 

Trevor Heinz also won the long jump (22-6.5). 

Ipswich’s Rasmus Loken (11-1) and Brody Davis (11-1) tied for first in the pole vault. 

The Ipswich boys won the 400-meter relay (:45.69) and 800-meter relay (1:39.00). 

Northwestern’s Lincoln Woodring won the 800-meter run (2:04.27) and the 1,600-meter run (4:42.23). 

Frederick Area’s Gavin Nickelson placed second in the 400-meter dash (:53.22) and ran the lead leg on the winning 1,600-meter relay (3:40.23). 

North Central’s Gabe Johnson won the 3,200-meter run (10:51.05) and was on the winning 3,200-meter relay (9:18.25). 

Leola’s Dustin Wurtz was a double winner in the shot put (49-5.5) and discus (132-0). 

Faulkton Area’s Spencer Melius won the 300-meter hurdles (:43.38) and javelin (170-0). 

In girls action, Ipswich’s Sophia Knittel won the 200-meter dash (:28.46), placed second in the 100-meter dash (:13.36) and third in the 400-meter dash (1:04.47). 

Aberdeen Christian’s Shawnteah La Croix won the 100-meter dash (:12.92), the long jump (16-3) and placed second in the 400-meter dash (1:02.21). La Croix ran the lead leg on the winning 400-meter relay (:52.82). 

Northwestern’s Ella Boekelheide captured first-place finishes in the 800-meter run (2:24.56) and 1,600-meter run (5:06.86).

Ipswich’s Madisyn Gellhaus won the 3,200-meter run (11:59.16) and placed second in the 1,600-meter run (5:32.71). 

North Central’s Kaidence Bulguin won the 100-meter hurdles (:16.86) and was on the winning 800-meter relay (1:55.84). 

Frederick Area’s Sofia Losure won the 300-meter hurdles (:52.05), the high jump (4-8) and was on the winning 1,600-meter relay (4:20.97). 

Northwestern’s Ana Ratigan won the shot put (31-9.5) and placed third in the discus (85-10). 

Faulkton Area’s Savanna Hayes placed first in the discus (99-2), javelin (96-2) and finished second in the shot put (31-7.25). 

Ipswich’s Jalyssa Hutson (9-9) and Marley Guthmiller (9-3) placed first and second, respectively, in the pole vault. Guthmiller placed second in the 300-meter hurdles (:52.94).  

North Central’s Lindsey Geier (34-3.75) and Ella Batie (31-3.75) finished first and second, respectively, in the triple jump.
