PARKSTON — The McCook Central/Montrose wrestling team claimed five individual championships on their way to winning the Parkston Little B tournament on Saturday. 

The Fighting Cougars racked up 226 points, ahead of Miller/Highmore-Harrold 173.5 and Parkston 170. Central Lyon/George-Little Rock IA (150.5) and Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington (147) rounded out the top-five. 

Trystan Traupel (120), Jackson Remmers (152), Carter Randall (160), Weston Remmers (170) and Austin Hoiten (285) all won titles for McCook Central/Montrose. 

Miller/Highmore-Harrold had two champions in Talon Ping (113) and Kellan Hurd (126). Parkston had two champions, Wyatt Anderson (132) and Carter Sommer (138). 

Other South Dakota champions were Clark/Willow Lake’s Cooper Pommer (106), (Mt. Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney’s Drew Gerlach (145), Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington Springs’ Keegan Haider (182) and Howard’s Griffin Clubb (220).

Parker holds off Bon Homme/Avon to claim Winner Invitational wrestling title

WINNER — A big weekend for the Parker wrestling team culminated with three individual champions and a team title from Saturday’s Winner Invitational. 

The Pheasants racked up 202 points, ahead of Bon Homme/Avon (195) and Custer (181). Winner Area (159) and Burke/Gregory (115.5) rounded out the top-five. 

Jack Even (145), Levi Wieman (220) and Zaul Centeno (285) won individual titles for Parker. 

Bon Homme/Avon had two champions, Brady Bierema (152) and Isaac Crownover (182). Wagner also had two champions, Karstyn Lhotak (120) and Jhett Breen (138). Burke/Gregory also had two champions, Owen Hansen (132) and Gunnar Stephens (170).

Other individual champions were Philip/Kadoka Area/Wall Badland’s Brawler Carter Kendrick (106), Custer’s Tray Weiss (113), Stanley County’s Chase Hanson (126), Winner Area’s Riley Orel (160) and Hot Springs’ Caleb Rickenach (195).

Canton wins title at Dakota XII Conference Tournament

NORTH SIOUX CITY, SD — Canton scored 242 points, ahead of West Central (217) and Tea Area (214.5) to win the team title at Saturday’s Dakota XII Conference Tournament. Madison (113) and Tri-Valley (101.5) rounded out the top-five. 

Canton’s seven champions were Zach Bartels (106), Ashton Keller (138), Ayson Rice (145), Josh Merkle (182), Tanner Meyers (195), Hunter Richmond (220) and Traun Cook (285). 

Tea Area garnered four champions, Hunter Wilson (120), Jackson Tschetter (126), Maddix Slykhuis (132) and Sam Werdel (170). 

West Central had two champions, Karson Vessells (113) and Justin Zirpel (170). 

The other individual champion was Elk Point-Jefferson’s Lucas Hueser (152).

Milbank holds off Chamberlain to claim River City Rumble wrestling title

CHAMBERLAIN — Behind three individual champions and solid depth throughout their lineup the Milbank wrestling team claimed the title at Saturday’s River City Rumble. 

The Bulldogs put up 161 points, ahead of Chamberlain (156) and Huron (140). Sioux Falls O’Gorman (135.5) and Belle Fourche (129) rounded out the top-five. 

Owen Fischer (106), Barrett Schneck (170) and Jesse Schneck (195) won titles for Milbank. 

Sisseton also had three champions in Ian Metz (120), Holden Hawkins (126)  and Mason Shultz (182). 

Mitchell had two champions, Cruze Allhiser (113) and Jagger Tyler (152). Chamberlain’s two champions were Noah Hutmacher (220) and Canyon Burkard (285). 

Other individual champions were Yankton’s Dylan Sloan (132), Belle Fourche’s Riley Dighton (138), Huron’s Moses Gross (145) and Sioux Falls O’Gorman’s Keenan Sheridan (160).

Brookings wins team title at Kingsbury County Invitational

The Brookings Bobcats had three individual champions on their way to winning the team title at the Kingsbury County Invitational. 

The Bobcats finished with 235.5 points, ahead of Canby, Minn., (222) and Kingsbury County (164.5). Redfield Area (138) and Sioux Falls Washington (89) rounded out your top-five. 

Nolan Miles (126), Israel Caldron (170) and Tyson Brandt (182) all won titles for the Bobcats. 

Redfield had two champions, Brady Risetter (106) and Grady Fey (285). 

Other individual champions from South Dakota were Britton-Hecla’s Collin Beaner (152), Lyman’s Tance Wagner (160), Faulkton Area’s Lincoln Dikoff (195) and Sioux Falls Washington’s Abraham Myers (220).

Brandon Valley and Pierre go undefeated at East West Duals

Pierre — The Brandon Valley and Pierre wrestling teams went undefeated at Saturday’s East West duals in Pierre. 

Brandon Valley defeated Rapid City Stevens 43-25, Spearfish 70-10,  Sturgis 44-27 and Rapid City Central 75-6. 

Pierre defeated Spearfish 72-9, Rapid City Stevens 54-11, Rapid City Central 62-9 and Sturgis 36-27.
