ABERDEEN — The Watertown wrestling team captured Saturday’s Lee Wolf Invitational, edging Aberdeen Central by just 1.5 points. 

Watertown amassed 230.5 points, ahead of Aberdeen Central (229) and Bismarck Century, North Dakota (177). Winner Area (147.5) and Miller/Highmore-Harrold (118) rounded out the top-five. 

Watertown’s lone champion was Sloan Johannsen (120). Johannsen defeated Sisseton’s Ian Metz 10-2 in the final to remain undefeated on the season. 

Winner Area had the top showing amongst Class B schools from South Dakota. Karson Keiser (132), Riley Orel (160) and Jack Kruger (182) each won titles for the Warriors. 

Redfield’s Brady Risetter (106) and Grady Fey (285) won titles for the Pheasants. 

Other individual championships were claimed by Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington’s Jacksen Carter (113), Aberdeen Central’s Rayden Zens (126), Huron’s Moses Gross (145), Miller/Highmore-Harrold’s Colby Kolda (152) and Chamberlain’s Noah Hutmacher (220).

Pierre wrestlers run away with team title at Les Tlustos Invitational

BROOKINGS — Behind seven individual champions Pierre easily won the Les Tlustos Invitational in Brookings on Saturday. 

Pierre ran away with the team title Saturday racking up 287.5 points ahead of West Central (172.5) and Canby Minn. (169). Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial Minn. (163.5) and Brookings (144) rounded out the top five. 

Lincoln Schoenhard (120), Tristan Spencer (138), Deegan Houska (160), Trey Lewis (170), Chance Carda (182), Gavin Stotts (195) and Joshua Rydberg (285) all claimed titles for the Governors. 

Other South Dakota champions were Brookings’ Tate Helmbolt (106), Sioux Falls Lincoln’s Bentley Williams (126), West Central’s Jesse Jost (132) and Mitchell’s Jagger Tyler (152).

Sturgis grapplers dominate Belle Fourche Invitational

BELLE FOURCHE — With six individual champions the Sturgis wrestling team scored over 300 points on their way to winning Saturday’s Belle Fourche Invitational. 

Sturgis amassed 325.5 points ahead of Rapid City Stevens (235.5) and Custer (187). Moorcroft, Wyoming (136) and Belle Fourche (109) rounded out the top-five teams. 

Korbin Bunch (106), Thayne Elshere (138), Kalvin Ketelsen (145), Reese Jacobs (182), Aiden Werlinger (195) and Zak Juelfs (220) each won titles for the Scoopers. 

Custer claimed four individual titles with Tray Wiess (113), Landon Woodward (126), Riley Scott (132) and Ryder Bailey (170) won for the Wildcats. 

Rapid City Stevens had three champions, Corbin Zent (120), Corter Doney (152) and Kaiden Strong (285) all winning for the Raiders. 

The other individual championship went to Lyman’s Tance Wagner (160).

Faulkton Area captures team title at Groton Wrestling Tournament

GROTON — Faulkton Area racked up 161 points, ahead of Warner/Northwestern (117) and Ipswich/Leola/Bowdle. Watertown JV (106.5) and Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington (105.5) rounded out the top five. 

Cash Edgar (90-98), Sean Roseland (106) and Garrett Cramer (145) each captured titles for Faulkton Area. 

Potter County also had three champions in Nicholas Schlachter (113), Tanner Frickson (138) and Carter Luikens (160) each won titles for the Battlers.
