Jan. 3 Boys Basketball Roundup - Rapid City Stevens tops Central in cross-town rivalry

Rapid City Stevens 63, Rapid City Central 45

RAPID CITY — Seth Paugh and Lucas Marcus combine for 30 points in Rapid City Stevens’ boys basketball victory over Rapid City Central Saturday.

Paugh tallied 15 points, two rebounds and two steals while Marcus added 15 points and five boards. Peyton Crawford and Logan Nisen each had seven points, including six boards from Nisen, while Anders Christiansen and Andrew Zimmerman each had five points in the win.

For RCC, Preston Yellow had 13 points and four rebounds, Sean Smith and LLogan Soderlin each tallied seven points and three rebounds while Julius Duran had six points and three steals in the loss.


Tea Area 62, Sturgis Brown 40

STURGIS — Gavin Shawd and Grifin Wiebenga combined for 46 points in Tea Area’s boys basketball win over Sturgis Brown Saturday.

Shawd led the Titans with 24 points while Wiebenga added 22 points. Mitchell Grant recorded nine points in the win as well.

For SB, Jerek Dufner had 13 points , Hayden Rock tallied 12 points while Gage West tallied 11 points in the loss.


Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 55, Canistota 44

CANISTOTA — Brodie Albertson’s 24-point double-double lifted Oldham-Ramona/Rutland over Canistota in boys basketball action Saturday.

Albertson had 24 points, 14 rebounds, two assists and two steals in the win, Brennan Bickett added 13 points and two rebounds while Boyd Pooler had 12 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals in the win.
For Canistota, Prayden Acheson had 18 points, three rebounds and three assists, Easton Miller collected seven points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals while Carter Becker had eight points, five boards and two steals in the loss.


Leola/Frederick Area 49, Waubay-Summit 48

WAUBAY — Three players scored in double figures as Leola/Frederick Area clipped Waubay-Summit in boys basketball action Saturday.

Jace Thorpe, WInston Clark and Milo Sumption all tallied 11 points while Westyn Thorpe tallied seven points in the win.

For WS, Hogan Hlavacek tallied 22 points while Tripp Gaikowski and Jace Wohlleber each had eight points in the loss.


Dickinson Trinity (N.D.) 57, Rapid City Christian 54

DICKINSON — Class A No. 7 Rapid City Christian fell in boys basketball action Saturday.

RCC’s Henry Koppman had 19 points and nine rebounds, Sully Kieffer added 15 points while Peyton Glenn totaled 11 points in the loss.


Britton-Hecla 54, Tri-State (N.D.) 20

BRITTON — A balanced scoring attack pushed Britton-Hecla to a boys basketball victory Saturday.

Will Richter led the Braves with 13 points, three rebounds and three assists, Benjamin Folkman had 10 points, Mitchell Burger totaled seven points while Chaz Vietor and Graham Fosness each had five points in the win.


Jan. 3 Girls Basketball Roundup

Faulkton Area 37, Wolsey-Wessington 28

WOLSEY — Anika Mueller’s 24-point game guided Faulkton Area to a girls basketball victory over Wolsey-Wessington Saturday.

Mueller ended with 24 points, seven rebounds and a steal, Presleigh Martinmaas had seven points, five rebounds and six assists while Brooklyn Mueller collected four points and four rebounds in the win.
For WW, Kendal Uttecht tallied 10 points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists, Maria Nelson had six points, six rebounds and two steals while Shae Uttecht had four points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals in the loss.


Waubay-Summit 57, Leola/Frederick Area 28

WAUBAY — Addison Heinje’s 22-point game powered Waubay-Summit over Leola/Frederick Area in girls basketball action Saturday.

Heinje had 22 points in the win, Brynlee Amdahl collected 13 points while Caley Boik had six points in the win.

For LF, Arabella Clark had 10 points, Kaitlyn Mueller collected eight points while Karli Achen had five points in the loss.


Britton-Hecla 54, Tri-State (N.D.) 33

BRITTON — Three players scored in double figures in Britton-Hecla’s girls basketball win Saturday.

Chellon Pruitt led the Braves with 16 points, Maddie Micko had 15 points, Daynika Zuehlke had 10 points while Karlie Zuehlke added seven points in the win.
