Parkston 51, Lyman 44

MITCHELL — Class B No. 2 Parkston outlasted Class B No. 3 Lyman in girls basketball action at Saturday’s Hanson Classic.

Parkston’s Mya Thuringer finished with 14 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Lauren Ziebart chipped in with 13 points, while Berkley Ziebart added 11 points and four rebounds. 

For Lyman, Mak Scott and Brooke Palmer scored 17 points apiece. Scott added 11 rebounds, while Palmer had nine boards. Bree Smart had five points and three rebounds. 

 

Centerville 58, Ethan 47

MITCHELL — Class B No. 1 Centerville turned a five-point halftime deficit into an eight-point girls basketball win at Saturday’s Hanson Classic.

Centerville’s Izzie Eide finished with 15 points, seven rebounds and three 3-pointers. Keira Austin added 11 points and three 3-pointers. Althea Gust and Emma Marshall scored 10 points apiece. Marshall added seven rebounds. Tessa Eide scored six points.

For Class B No. 4 Ethan, Marissa Storm finished with 17 points and five rebounds. Ella Pollreisz scored 15 points and grabbed five rebounds. Taziah Hawkins added 10 points. Sadie Mueller scored five points.

 

Mahpiya Luta 56, Vermillion 34

MITCHELL — Class A No. 3 Mahpiya Luta clipped Class A No. 2 Vermillion to close out the girls Hanson Classic Saturday.

Jode Big Crow-Hunter led the Crusaders with 19 points, four rebounds and three steals, Ashlan Carlow-Blount added 14 points, 11 rebounds and two steals, Abigail Haas added seven points and eight rebounds, while Dorthie Mesteth tallied five points and three rebounds in the win.

Vermillion’s Brooke Jensen finished with 14 points and five rebounds while Kasey Hanson collected eight points in the loss.


Dakota Valley 50, Groton Area 40

MITCHELL — Katie Betsworth and Cameryn Sommervold combined for 27 points and 19 rebounds to power Dakota Valley to a girls basketball win at Saturday’s Hanson Classic.

Betsworth finished with 15 points and six rebounds. Sommervold tallied 12 points and 13 rebounds. Aubree Worden had nine points, while Ella Otten had eight points. Emersen Mead posted five points and seven rebounds. 

For Groton Area, Rylee Dunker recorded 11 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Kennedy Hansen finished with 10 points, five rebounds and three steals. Jaedyn Penning had five points and five rebounds. Taryn Traphagen tallied five points and three rebounds. 


Elk Point-Jefferson 47, Aberdeen Roncalli 42

MITCHELL — Elk Point-Jefferson edged Aberdeen Roncalli for a girls basketball victory at Saturday’s Hanson Classic.

EPJ’s Bentlee Kollbaum finished with 11 points and three rebounds. Kaitlyn VanRoekel added 10 points and four rebounds. Cera Schmitz had 10 points and five boards. Ashley Brewer tallied eight points and six boards. Courtney Brewer added five points.

For Roncalli, Maddie Huber tallied 13 points and three rebounds. Ava Hanson posted 11 points and six rebounds. McKenna O’Keefe had nine points and three rebounds. Rylee Voeller added five points.


Scotland-Menno 38, Alcester-Hudson 37

SCOTLAND — Scotland-Menno clipped Alcester-Hudson during Saturday’s high school girls basketball action.

Trinity Bietz led the charge with 13 points and eight rebounds, Nora Robb added 10 points, Emily Dvorak tallied seven points, while Lexi McNinch recorded eight rebounds in the win.

AH’s Emily Winquist had 13 points, Emma Solberg recorded 10 points, Jenna Manning tallied seven points, while Delta Pies recorded four points in the loss.


Lennox 48, St. Thomas More 38

MITCHELL — Three players scored in double figures to pace Lennox to a girls basketball win at Saturday’s Hanson Classic.

Lennox’s Libby Kranz finished with 13 points and three 3-pointers. Andie Peters posted 11 points, six rebounds, five assists and three 3-pointers. Ryan Hanssen logged 10 points and five rebounds. Karlie Bosma had six points, while Tori Gerdes added four points and five rebounds.

For STM, Leighton Scherr recorded 10 points and five rebounds. Sloane Keszler added eight points and three rebounds. Riley Gylten logged seven points and four assists. Enna Henry recorded five points and three rebounds. 


Harding County 47, Hitchcock-Tulare 40

MITCHELL — Bailey Verhulst and Kaylen Padden combined for 25 points to pace Harding County to a girls basketball win at Saturday’s Hanson Classic.

Verhulst finished with 15 points and seven steals. Kaylen Padden added 10 points and five rebounds. Kamry Padden posted nine points and four rebounds. Brayden Padden had eight points and four rebounds. 

For HT, Gracyn Bixler recorded 12 points and five boards. Emmerie Arthurs logged 10 points and five rebounds. Katelyn Schroeder scored nine points and collected eight boards. Cambree Hoekman had six points and four rebounds. 


Arlington 55, Hanson 50 

MITCHELL — Arlington outscored Hanson 12-5 in the fourth quarter to pick up a girls basketball win at Saturday’s Hanson Classic.

Arlington’s Jaelyn Huntimer finished with 16 points and five rebounds. Madalyn Madsen added 13 points and seven rebounds. Emma Spilde, Emarie Vincent and Ellisyn Vincent scored eight points apiece. Spilde added nine rebounds. Ellisyn Vincent had five rebounds. Sony Johnson collected five boards.

For Hanson, Kylie Haiar posted 18 points and 15 rebounds. Grace Arend added 13 points, four 3-pointers and three rebounds. Cadence Jarding added eight points. Claire Bridge logged six points and five boards.


De Smet 62, Dawson-Boyd (Minn.) 37

De Smet — Hazel Luethmers’ 25-point outing lifted De Smet past Dawson-Boy Saturday in high school girls basketball action.

Luethmers finished with 25 points, seven rebounds, eight steals and four assists, Audi Currier tallied 11 points and eight rebounds, Megan Dylla had nine points, eight rebounds, seven steals and five assists. Alyssa Asleson recorded eight points, four assists and two steals, while Brooke Jennings had seven points and seven rebounds in the win.


Viborg-Hurley 64, Corsica-Stickney 47

VIBORG — Three players scored in double figures to pace Viborg-Hurley to a girls basketball win on Saturday.

VH’s Charley Nelson tallied 24 points, five assists and five rebounds. Kendra Gilbert added 16 points and five rebounds. Jenna Graves tallied 13 points, four rebounds and four assists. Aubree Schwartz had six points, four rebounds and four steals. 

For Corsica-Stickney, Braylee Bordewyk had 13 points and Sydney Spaans added nine points. 


Hamlin 59, Crofton, Neb., 56 (OT)

MADISON — Hamlin edged Crofton, Nebraska, in girls basketball action at Saturday’s Dakota State University Shootout.

Hamlin’s Addie Neuendorf tallied 15 points on five 3-pointers. Jo Steffensen posted 15 points, while Addie Steffensen recorded 13 points and three 3-pointers. Issie Steffensen had 10 points, while Addie Jensen scored six points. 


Canton 55, Castlewood 31

COLMAN — Canton pulled away from Castlewood for a girls basketball win on Saturday.

Canton’s Camry Skiles finished with 15 points and three rebounds. Jordan Rhead added 11 points and five boards. Brynn Oakland recorded seven points, while Avayla Jaacks added six points. 

For Castlewood, Claire Horn finished with 10 points and four rebounds. Ava Ruml recorded six points and six rebounds. 


Deubrook Area 67, Lakota Tech 41

MADISON — Four players scored in double figures as Deubrook Area defeated Lakota Tech at the Dakota State University Shootout on Saturday.

Deubrook Area’s Zoey Molengraaf finished with 15 points and five rebounds. Peyton Trooien tallied 11 points, six rebounds and three 3-pointers. Matte Bauman added 10 points, six rebounds and four steals. Mataya Gouws logged 10 points, five rebounds and three steals. Carly Engelstad scored seven points, while Kaylee Johnson tallied six points and five rebounds. Clare Jorenby scored five points.

For Lakota Tech, Shania Ferguson tallied 12 points and eight rebounds. Layla Janis added 11 points and four rebounds. Daisy Red Hawk and Amelia Shangreaux scored six points apiece. Lizzie Robinson scored four points and grabbed five boards. 


Flandreau 41, Clark/Willow Lake 40

FLANDREAU — Morgan Sheppard and Sadie Iott powered Flandreau to a one-point girls basketball win over Clark/Willow Lake on Saturday.

Sheppard finished with 21 points, five rebounds and five steals. Iott added 11 points and eight rebounds. 

For CWL, Brynn Roehrich scored 13 points and Shelby Begeman had nine points.
