Ipswich vaulters soar to new heights at Dewey Donat Classic

ABERDEEN —  The Ipswich pole vaulting crew put on a show at Monday’s Dewey Donat Classic in Aberdeen. 

Defending Class B pole vault champion Rasmus Loken broke his personal best (13-00) with an indoor vault of (13-01-5). Ipswich junior Brody Davis finished third in the competition (12-01.5) and Ipswich eighth grader Seth DeRaad cleared (9-04.25) to finish 11th. 

Defending Class B girls champion Jalyssa Hutson won the girls pole vault Tuesday (10-03.25) with teammate Marley Guthmiller finishing second (9-09.25). 

Ipswich junior Kyle Hettich continued his strong 2025 indoor season winning the 55-meter dash (:6.55) and 200-meter dash (:23.60) and finishing second in the long jump (19-0.5). 

The Warner boys had several strong performances that included wins from Beckham Cantalope in the 55-meter hurdles (:8.81) and Zach Evans in the shot put (41-06). 

Great Plains Lutheran had a pair of winners as Lucas Johnson won the high jump (6-02.75) and Hessel Andringa won the long jump (20-05). 

The Ipswich girls also had a strong day with Sophia Knittel winning the 200-meter dash (:27.90), Isabella Anderson winning the 400-meter dash (1:06.56), Marley Guthmiller winning the 55-meter hurdles (:9.76), Jalyssa Hutson the high jump (4-09.75).

The quartet of Aubree DeRaad, Knittel, Gabby Wald and Henderson won the 1,600-meter relay (4:28.89).

North Central had a pair of winners as Peyton Schnabel won the 55-meter dash (:7.74) and Lindsey Geier won the triple jump (31-01). 

Warner won two individual titles as Katelyn Wirth won the 800-meter run (2:39.39) and Courtney Leidholt won the long jump (15-02).
