Deubrook Area girls, Wessington Springs boys claim Region 2B golf titles

BROOKINGS — Deubrook Area girls and Wessington Springs boys won Region 2B golf titles on Tuesday.

The Deubrook Area girls scored 265 points, followed by Elkton-Lake Benton (302) and Howard (306). The Wessington Springs boys recorded 249 points, followed by Howard (251) and De Smet (253). 

Individually, Deubrook Area’s Ava Crooks was the individual medalist with an 85. She shot a 41 on the front nine and a 44 on the back nine. Howard’s Halle Schulz (88) and De Smet’s Brooke Jennings (88) placed second and third, respectively. De Smet’s Harper Anderson (89) and Deubrook Area’s Brooklyn Gladis (89) placed fourth and fifth, respectively. 

Wessington Springs’ JD Thompson was the individual medalist with a 79, shooting a 41 on the front nine and a 38 on the back nine. Thompson finished with two birdies on the day. De Smet’s Gradyn Henrich (80) and Hamlin’s Aiden Abraham (80) finished second and third, respectively. Wessington Springs’ Luke Larson (80) and Wolsey-Wessington’s Larz Tvedt (81) placed fourth and fifth, respectively.
