Jan. 23 Boys Basketball Roundup - Madison's Charles Callahan nets 31 points in victory over Chamberlain
Madison’s Charles Callahan is fouled while going up for a shot during the second half of the Bulldogs’ 76-34 win over Chamberlain Tuesday in Chamberlain. Callahan ended the night leading Madison with 31 points.

Madison 76, Chamberlain 34

CHAMBERLAIN — Charles Callahan powered Madison to a boys basketball win over Chamberlain on Tuesday.

Callahan poured in 31 points and nailed seven 3-pointers. Ben Brooks adde 12 points, while Thomas Mechels scored 11 points. Shane Veenhof added five points.

For Chamberlain, Dakota Munger scored 10 points. Kenyon McCloskey scored seven points and Cruz Soulek added six points. Breckyn Harmon had five points. 


White River 55, Philip 40

PHILIP — Class B No. 2 White River pulled away from Philip for a boys basketball win on Tuesday.

Nic Marshall led the Tigers with 27 points and five assists. Jordan Uhlir logged 17 points and four rebounds. Teagen Bouman recorded eight points and five boards. Evastine Wright grabbed 12 rebounds.

For Philip, Layton Terkildsen scored 12 points. Jess Jones and Lane Kuchenbecker scored six points apiece. Kuchenbecker added five rebounds. Kade Fitzgerald scored five points and grabbed six boards. Bryson Schofield had three points and seven rebounds. 


Stanley County 62, Sully Buttes 59 

FORT PIERRE — Stanley County outlasted Sully Buttes for a boys basketball win on Tuesday.

Stanley County’s Paxton Deal scored a game-high 20 points and hit three 3-pointers. Eddie Duffy logged 15 points and three 3-pointers. Broch Zeeb posted 13 points, while Austin Boxley and Wyatt Mortenson scored six points apiece.

For Sully Buttes, Wesley Wittler scored 19 points and Gavin Colson logged 13 points. Logan Severson had 10 points and Trever Marshall scored nine points. Eli Mercer scored six points. 


Castlewood 76, Colman-Egan 30

COLMAN — Three players scored in double figures to pace Class B No. 1 Castlewood to a boys basketball win on Tuesday.

Bryon Laue recorded 18 points and 15 rebounds. Lane Tvedt added 15 points, while Luke Baumberger had 12 points. Brody Bass scored nine points and Tyson Manley had six points.

For Colman-Egan, Jase Mousel scored 16 points and Jackson Zwart added 10 points. 


Bon Homme 38, Kimball/White Lake 33

KIMBALL — Bon Homme clipped Kimball/White Lake for a boys basketball win on Tuesday.

KWL’s Blake Leiferman finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Lantz Bass posted nine points and Park Sinclair had seven rebounds.

Bon Homme stats were not reported. 


Parkston 70, Platte-Geddes 54

PARKSTON — Four players scored in double-figures as Parkston earned a win over Platte-Geddes in boys basketball action Tuesday.

Luke Bormann powered the Trojans with 16 points and seven rebounds. Will Jodozi added 16 points and Payton Koehn finished with 15 points. James Deckert added 12 points and Brycen Bruening chipped in with five assists.

Braxton Breukelman led Platte-Geddes with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Parker Bailey and Tanner Dyk each scored 11 points for the Black Panthers. 


Florence-Henry 66, Arlington 55

ARLINGTON — Three players scored in double-figures as the Florence-Henry boys downed Arlington in boys basketball action Tuesday. 

Carson Vavruska led Florence-Henry with 17 points, two rebounds and four assists. Ty Bergh posted a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. James Schroeder chipped in with ten points and four rebounds.

Paxton Rheault led Arlington with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Riley Miller pumped in 14 points and grabbed two rebounds. 


Canistota 57, Chester 41

CANISTOTA — Tage Ortman and Brandon Kjetland combined to score 45 points as Class B No. 5 Canistota knocked off Chester in boys basketball action Tuesday

Ortman stuffed the stat sheet with 25 points, three rebounds, six assists and five steals. Kjetland scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Levi Schroeder chipped in with eight points, four rebounds and three assists.

Jovi Wolf led Chester with 21 points. Layke Wold contributed 12 points and seven rebounds for the Flyers.


Cheyenne-Eagle Butte 74, Standing Rock, N.D., 70

EAGLE BUTTE — Cheyenne-Eagle Butte outlasted Standing Rock, North Dakota, for a boys basketball win on Tuesday.

CEB’s Damien Clown finished with 16 points, while Easton Lawrence and Dayson Kennedy scored 13 points apiece. Braxton Kennedy finished with 10 points. Levi Elk Nation and Austin Johnson scored eight points.


McLaughlin 56, Mobridge-Pollock 31

MOBRIDGE —- A balanced scoring attack helped the McLaughlin boys earn a road win over Mobridge-Pollock on Tuesday night.

Reymin Yellow Earrings led the Mustangs with 21 points while adding two assists and two steals. Cass Demery added 15 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals. Deven Archambault and Tyler Bullhead combined for 11 points in the win.

Shane Henderson led Mobridge-Pollock with 11 points.


Rapid City Christian 57, Custer 55

CUSTER — Rapid City Christian clipped Custer for a boys basketball win on Tuesday.

Rapid City Christian’s Julius Frog finished with 27 points and nine rebounds. Simon Kieffer added 19 points and eight rebounds. Wilson Kieffer posted seven points and five boards.

For Custer, Kyle Virtue had 16 points and 12 rebounds. Drew Lehman added 11 points, while Kincade Lehman had nine points. Rhett Lowe posted five points, while Roland Sedlacek had four points and five rebounds. 


Hitchcock-Tulare 60, Redfield 39 

TULARE — Three players scored in double figures to pace Hitchcock-Tulare to a boys basketball win on Tuesday.

HT’s Erik Salmen finished with 17 points and Jackson Maynard added 16 points. Devin Enander had 11 points, while Brendon Nowell had seven points. Preston Wipf scored six points.

For Redfield, Justin Ratigan scored 13 points and Tristan O’Daniel logged 12 points. Grady Hulscher scored seven points and Ethan Falk had five points. 


Tripp-Delmont/Armour 52, Centerville 45

CENTERVILLE — Three players scored in double figures to pace Tripp-Delmont/Armour to a boys basketball win on Tuesday.

TDA’s Isaac Wunder logged 16 points, three rebounds and three assists. Dalton Westendorf added 12 points and eight rebounds. Riley Spaans had 10 points and seven rebounds. Mason Reiner recorded eight points. Reegan Loneman had five points and seven rebounds.

For Centerville, Cole Edberg finished with 12 points and five rebounds. Aiden Bobzin logged 11 points and three rebounds. Miles Eide posted nine points and six rebounds. Jase Brouwer had six points and Covin Wattier had five points.


Flandreau 48, Garretson 25

FLANDREAU — Flandreau coasted past Garretson for a boys basketball win on Tuesday.

Luke Sheppard finished with 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Xavier Bien had nine points. 

Garretson’s Ian Buettner logged 12 points. 


Dell Rapids St. Mary 73, Deubrook Area 62

DELL RAPIDS — Dell Rapids St. Mary held off Deubrook Area for a boys basketball win on Tuesday.

Trevon Beckman finished with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Nic Gaspar and Maverick LeBrun scored 19 points apiece. Trimmier Hanson posted 12 points.

Jake Jorenby led Deubrook Area with 31 points. 


Leola-Frederick Area 58, Britton-Hecla 20

BRITTON — Leola-Frederick Area improved to 12-0 with a boys basketball win over Britton-Hecla on Tuesday.

Brayden Sumption and Lucas Gulbranson scored 11 points apiece for the Titans. Westyn Thorpe scored eight points and Noah Kippley had six points.

For Britton-Hecla, Jordyn McGregor scored six points. 


Baltic 78, McCook Central/Montrose 54

SALEM — Three players scored in double figures to pace Baltic to a boys basketball win on Tuesday.

Baltic’s Jack Erickson finished with a game-high 35 points, grabbed seven rebounds and hit three 3-pointers. Kellen Artz added 14 points, while Mark Ditter posted 11 points, four assists, three rebounds and three 3-pointers. Blake Hookie had seven points and Ben Erickson posted six points.

For MCM, Jackson Schmidt recorded 13 points, while Mason Sabers added 12 points. Owen Alley logged nine points and Lane Deutsch added eight points. Carter Jandl scored seven points. Ty Morrison grabbed five boards. 


Dell Rapids 59, Elkton-Lake Benton 40 

DELL RAPIDS — Three players scored in double figures to pace Dell Rapids to a boys basketball win on Tuesday.

Jack Henry finished with 18 points, while Treyse Eastman added 17 points. Rhett Kloth logged 14 points and Cole Ruesink added nine points. 

For ELB, Tanner Drietz had 18 points and five rebounds. Carson Griffith logged 10 points and Colt Beck had nine points. 


West Central 70, Parker 34

HARTFORD — West Central rolled past Parker for a boys basketball win on Tuesday.

West Central’s Connor Mebius finished with 23 points and three assists. Carter Tetzlaff added 10 points, while Crew Heier had eight points and seven rebounds. Jake Kuhl had seven points and 10 rebounds. Paden Schulte logged five assists. Will Kuhl recorded seven points and three blocked shots.

For Parker, Ray Travnicek scored 13 points. Myles Meyer had eight points and Jevin Erickson scored six points. 


Harrisburg 69, Brookings 44

HARRISBURG — Class AA No. 3 Harrisburg picked up a boys basketball win over Brookings on Tuesday.

Jacoby Mehrman finished with 30 points and Braeden VanBockern had 17 points. 

Keech Bior scored 23 points for Brookings.
