Burke Bombers 6, Plankinton F&M Bankers 1

BURKE — JJ Farner struck out eight batters as Burke defeated Plankinton in a Pony Hills League amateur baseball game on Thursday. 

Farner allowed four hits, one earned run and eight walks in 7.1 innings. 

Burke’s Dan Jons recorded three hits and drove in a run. Kade Braun added two hits and drove in two runs. Hunter Van Niewenhuyse, Aaron Vomacka, Blake Hoffman and Gannon Thomas added hits. Thomas and Hoffman drove in runs. Brogan Glover struck out two batters in 1.2 scoreless relief innings. 

For Plankinton, Devin Mehlhaff had two of the team’s four hits. Blaine Bohr and Brandon Bosworth added hits. Bohr allowed seven hits, five earned runs, five walks and struck out five batters in four innings.

 

Corsica Horned Frogs 5, Winner/Colome Pheasants 4 (11 innings)

WINNER — Logan Bakker’s RBI single lifted Corsica to an extra-inning, Sunshine League win over Winner/Colome in amateur baseball action Thursday.

Bakker batted 4-for-6 with a double and three RBIs, Gavin Zomer added two hits and two RBIs, Blake Moke collected three hits while Tyson Wentland and Carter Wright each added two hits in the win. Blake Moke took the victory on the mound, allowing four hits and three walks in 4.1 shutout innings, striking out four.

For WC, Reed Harter took the loss, allowing one unearned run on one hit and one walk in 2.1 innings of relief, striking out three. Dillon Lambley tallied three hits, a double, and an RBI, Isaiah Olson had two hits, a double, and an RBI, Oscar Pravacek added an RBI on two walks, while Kelly O’Bryan, Derek Graesser, Reed Harter and Chandler Bakley each tallied one hit in the loss.


Four Corners 12, Wessington Springs Owls 4

WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Four Corners pounded out 15 hits as it defeated Wessington Springs in Pony Hills League action Thursday.

Andrew Coverdale had four hits, a double, and a walk, Brad Hand, Sam Hand, and Justin Lester each drove in two runs on two hits, combining for three walks, Jack Van Camp and Andrew Hand each tallied an RBI on one hit, while River Iverson recorded two hits in the win. Jack Van Camp earned the victory on the mound, allowing two unearned runs on three hits and five walks in five innings, striking out 12 batters.

For WS, Mason Schelske allowed six runs on nine hits and three walks in 6.2 innings, striking out six. Cade Mohling tallied three hits and an RBI, Camden Jost added two hits and an RBI, while Drew Olinger had two walks and an RBI in the loss.


Hartford/Humboldt Gamecocks 12, Salem Cubs 2 (8 innings)

HUMBOLDT — The Hartford/Humboldt Gamecocks used an eight-run eighth inning to secure a Cornbelt League amateur baseball win on Thursday.

Ryan Holgate led the Gamecocks with four hits and two RBIs. Joe Hanisch had three hits and drove in a run. Chad Morrison knocked in two runs, while Cole Quigley, Kyle Konechne, Devon Garry and Noah Vettrus each had hits. Cole Barthel earned the win, striking out five batters, allowing four hits, one earned run and walked five batters in seven innings.

For Salem, Cole Cheeseman had two hits and drove in a run. Jacob Vonberge, Cameron Jones and Owen Alley had hits. Jones drove in a run. Tyler Earls took the loss, allowing six hits, zero runs, one walk and struck out three batters in six innings. 


Garretson Blue Jays 13, Parker Ringnecks 1 (7 innings)

PARKER — Trey Buckneberg drove in four runs as Garretson earned a run rule victory over Parker Thursday in State Line League action.

Buckneberg drove in four runs on two hits, including a home run, Sam Siegel added four hits and an RBI, Nick Bonte collected two hits and an RBI, Scott Splett had a two-run homer, Brady Bonte tallied an RBI on one hit while Robin Chute added two hits in the win as well. Brady DeBates tossed four innings for Garretson, allowing one run on two hits and two walks, striking out five.

For Parker, Justin Brehmer tossed four innings, allowing nine runs on seven hits, striking out two. Tyler Bailiff drove in a run on two hits, one double, in the loss.


Madison Dairy Queen Broncos 14, Colman A’s 1 (7 innings)

MADISON — Logan Albee drove in four runs during Madison’s Cornbelt League victory over Colman Thursday.

Albee batted 2-for-4 with a walk, double, and a homer, driving in four runs in the win, Nate Ricke added two hits, a homer, and two RBIs, Trey Smith collected three hits, a walk, and two RBIs, Matt Burpee and Thomas Mechels each tallied an RBI on one hit and one walk while Heith Williams recorded two hits and an RBI in the win.

For Colman, Chris Burke allowed seven runs on eight hits and two walks in three innings, striking out three.


Canova Gang 15, Dell Rapids Mudcats 5 (7 innings)

CANOVA — Canova pounded out 17 hits as the Gang defeated Dell Rapids in mercy rule fashion Thursday.

Justin Miller and Jared Miller each collected three hits and an RBI, Derek Miller had two hits and two RBIs, Riley Genzlinger recorded three hits and two RBIs, Kalub Carmichel added an RBI on two hits and two walks, while Jackson Remmers, Jack Neises and Luke Koepsell each drove in a pair of runs on a hit and a walk in the win. Jared Miller earned the win on the mound, allowing one unearned run in six no-hit innings, allowing one walk while striking out nine.

Carter Gullickson allowed seven runs on eight hits and a walk in 2.2 innings, striking out two. Jake Goble launched a three-run homer while Austin Henry had an RBI double in the loss.


Flandreau Blue Teal 10, Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks 5

FLANDREAU — A seven-run first inning guided Flandreau to a Cornbelt League victory over Hartford/Humboldt Thursday.

Dane Mediger tallied two hits and an RBI, Micah Otto had two hits and two RBIs, T Christensen and Tristen Peters each drove in a run on one walk, Kolby Peters recorded a two RBI double, M Witte added three hits while Mason Riley tallied an RBI on a hit and a walk in the win. Peters took the victory on the mound, allowing five runs on seven hits and four walks in nine innings, striking out nine in the win.

For HH, Derek Renken took the loss allowing seven runs on three hits and four walks in 0.2 innings. Braden Herr and Keaton Vessells each drove in a run on one hit, Jearl Jesson added two hits and a walk while Brodie Herr added a hit and a walk in the loss.


Dell Rapids PBR 5, Flandreau Cardinals 3

DELL RAPIDS — Trey Randel struck out eight batters as Dell Rapids PBR edged the Flandreau Cardinals in a Cornbelt League amateur baseball win on Thursday.

Randel allowed four hits, zero runs and walked eight batters in a complete-game performance. Riley Hoffman finished 2-for-3 and scored a run. Beau Behrend drove in two runs, while Drew Sweeter and Weston Hansen had hits. Hansen drove in a run. 

Flandreau’s Bret Severtson finished with two hits. Austin Koenig and Keith Cutler each had hits. Grant Hieb and Curt Anderson both drove in runs. Drew Weber took the loss after allowing five hits, two earned runs, three walks and struck out two batters in four innings.


Freeman Black Sox 6, Menno MadFrogs 5

FREEMAN — Freeman held on to beat Menno in South Central League action Thursday.

Bailey Sage led the Black Sox with three hits and an RBI, Riley Tschetter added two hits, a double, and an RBI, Sam Gillespie and Jackson Fiegen each had an RBI on one hit, while Evan Scharberg totaled an RBI in the win. Jake Weier tossed six innings for Freeman, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk, fanning two batters.

For Menno, Brayden Sattler allowed  six runs on nine hits and four walks in eight innings, striking out seven. Dylan Lehr launched two home runs and a double, totaling four RBIs while Macon Oplinger had two hits and an RBI. Connor Merriam and Parker Hochstein each had two hits in the loss as well.


Parkston Mudcats 11, Platte Killer Tomatoes 6

PLATTE — The Mudcats scored 10 unanswered runs to stun Platte in Sunshine League action Thursday.

Cullen Verville drove in five runs in the win for the Mudcats, totaling a double and three-run homer, Jeff Harris added two RBIs on a hit, Luke Bormann recorded two RBIs on three hits, while Ryan McGinnis added an RBI double in the win. Braxton Wilhelm earned the victory on the mound, allowing one walk in three shutout innings, striking out five. Wilhelm also collected two hits in the win as well.

For Platte, Michael Buitenbos allowed six runs on six hits and a walk in four innings, striking out three. Richard Sternberg tallied three hits and an RBI, Grant Doom hit a three-run homer, while Buitenbos added two hits, a double, and two RBIs in the loss.


Winner Demons 4, Chamberlain Mallards 0

CHAMBERLAIN — Evan Farner’s complete game on the mound helped Winner blank Chamberlain in Pony Hills League action Thursday.

Farner tossed nine shutout innings, allowing just three hits and five walks while striking out six. Ashton Klein tallied an RBI on a double and a walk, Landon Calhoon drove in a run on a walk while Farner and Pierce Nelson each recorded hits in the win.

For Chamberlain, Timothy Travis allowed two unearned runs on three hits and eight walks in seven innings, striking out seven. Sawyer Donovan recorded all three hits in the loss for Chamberlain.


Kimball/White Lake Nationals 9, Colome Chaos 6

KIMBALL — Mitchell Price tossed 4.2 shutout innings of relief to limit Colome in Kimball/White Lake’s Pony Hills League victory Thursday.

Price took the win on the mound allowing just one hit in 4.2 innings, striking out seven batters as well. Dylan Konechne tallied two hits, a double, walk, and an RBI, Caleb Crist added two hits, a double, and a walk, Dylanger Pierson tallied an RBI on a hit and two walks, Caden Lenz recorded two walks and an RBI, while Keaton Christensen tallied an RBI in the win as well.

For Colome, Shea Connot took the loss, allowing five unearned runs on six hits and five walks in 7.2 innings, striking out three. Carter Dye hit a three-run homer, Carter Birckman and Connot each tallied RBIs on one hit, including a solo shot from Connot, while Eli Vobr tallied two hits in the loss.


Alexandria Angels 7, Dimock/Emery Raptors 3

EMERY — Jack Gray struck out 10 batters as the Alexandria Angels topped the Dimock-Emery Raptors in Sunshine League amateur baseball action on Thursday. 

Gray allowed seven hits, one earned run and four walks in eight innings. Jackson Jarding went 3-for-5 and drove in three runs for the Angels, who had nine total hits. Tyson Gau had two hits, while Peyton Smith drove in two runs. Jerrod Zens, Cole Wenande and Jordan Gau added hits. Jordan Gau drove in a run. 

For Dimock-Emery, Peyton Nash had a team-high three hits and drove in a run. Phil Johnson and Sam Arend both drove in runs. Arend smacked a home run. Drew Kitchens and Chase Arend added hits. Landon Waddell struck out seven batters, allowed five hits, five earned runs and two walks in the six-inning loss.  


Lennox/Chancellor/Worthing Dirt Devils 9, Larchwood (Iowa) Diamonds 8 (10 innings)

LARCHWOOD — Brett Duncan’s RBI single pushed Lennox/Chancellor/Worthing to a State Line League victory over Larchwood Thursday.

Duncan tallied three RBIs on two hits and two walks, Peyton Garbers added two RBIs on two hits, one homer, and two walks, Mikey Kocer added two RBIs on a hit and a walk, Camden Berndt tallied three hits, Nick Zabel drove in two runs on a walk, while Isaac Bambas and Bailey Ludens each tallied two hits in the win. Quentin Evers tossed 5.2 innings, allowing six runs on five hits and three walks, striking out seven.

For Larchwood, Spencer Ver Meer took the loss allowing one unearned run on one hit and four walks in two innings, striking out three. Kael Blauwet had three hits and an RBI, Cody Groskruetz batted 4-for-5 with a triple and five RBIs, while Brent Ripperda added two hits in the loss.
