July 10 Legion Baseball Roundup - Emory Lefers guides Lennox to win over Salem at Clark Rotary Tournament

Lennox 7, Salem 4

CLARK — Emory Lefers fell one out shy of a complete game outing to power Lennox to a Legion baseball victory over Salem at the Clark Rotary Tournament Thursday.

Lefers tossed 6.2 innings, allowing just four runs on seven hits and two walks, fanning eight batters in the win. Jackson Anacker had three hits, two doubles, a walk and an RBI, Dayne Moeller added two hits and two RBIs, Gabe Veurink had two hits while Talen Eich, Cole Spieler, Nate Haar and Griffen Boomgarden each drove in a run on one hit in the win.

For Salem, Shea Klinkhammer allowed seven runs on 12 hits and two walks in six innings, striking out five. Zane McCormick tallied two hits while Carter Randall, Klinkhammer and Nolan Mentele each tallied one RBI on one hit in the loss.

 

Dell Rapids 1, Clark/Willow Lake 0

CLARK — Tad Tjaden tossed 18 strikeouts as Dell Rapids held on to beat Clark/Willow Lake to end the first day of the Clark Rotary Tournament.

Tjaden went the distance on the mound, allowing just one hit and one walk in 80 pitches, striking out 17 batters in the win. Jackson Peppel and Drake Eastman each tallied hits while Jake Heinitz added two hits in the win.

Josh Kannegiter took the loss allowing one unearned run on three hits and seven walks in 5.2 innings, striking out five in the loss. Collin Gaikowski tallied the lone hit of the game for CWL.


Colton 8, Groton 5 (6 innings)

CLARK — Colton pounded out 11 hits to beat Groton at the Clark Rotary Tournament Thursday.

Alex Wingen and Aiden Bunde each drove in a run on two hits, including a homer and double from Bunde, Tristen Bunde and Denton Bicknase each drove in a run on one hit while Brody Dybvig drove in a pair of runs on one hit in the win. Bicknase earned the win on the mound, allowing one hit in two shutout innings of work, striking out two.

For Groton, Nick Morris allowed eight runs on 11 hits and a walk in five innings, striking out eight in the loss. Brevin Fliehs and Carter Simon each drove in a run on two hits, including a double and triple from Fliehs, while Gavin Englund added an RBI as well.

 

Lisbon (N.D.) 4, Parkston 2

CLARK — Parkston fell short of a late comeback to Lisbon, North Dakota, at the Clark Rotary Tournament Thursday.

Carter Sommer took the loss, allowing four runs on six hits and six walks in 5.1 innings, striking out five batters. Sommer tallied two hits while Mason Jervik, James Deckert, Taite Klumb and Kash Neugebauer each had a hit in the loss.


Devils Lake (N.D.) 7, Groton 5 (6 innings)

CLARK — Groton fell in its second game at the Clark Rotary Tournament to Devils Lake, North Dakota, Thursday.

Carter Simon drove in a pair of runs on two hits, including a homer, Gavin Englund hit a solo homer, while Teylor Diegel collected two hits in the loss. Jarrett Erdmann allowed six runs on five hits and six walks in three innings, striking out one.


Hankinson-Lidgerwood (N.D.) 7, Salem 0 (6 innings)

CLARK — Salem fell in its first game of the Clark Rotary Tournament Thursday.

Zane McCormick took the loss, allowing three runs on three hits and three walks in 2.1 innings, striking out three. Trystan Traupel, Dawson Dorr, Korbin Shumaker and Hayes Erickson each tallied hits in the loss for Salem.


Bennett County 21, Hot Springs 2 (5 innings)

HOT SPRINGS — Maddux Risse, Rush O’Neill and Caysen Soderlin combined for 10 RBIs as Bennett County defeated Hot Springs in Legion action Thursday.

Risse drove in four runs on a triple, double, and a walk, O’Neill added three RBIs on a double and three walks, while Soderlin tallied four walks and a hit in the win. Jordan Risse and Lyle Noel each tallied an RBI on two hits, Kade Harris and Wanikiya Bad Milk each had two RBIs on one hit while Hayden Risse and Ryker Heath each collected an RBI on one hit as well. O’Neill tossed four innings, allowing one run on three hits and five walks, striking out four.

For Hot Springs, Jax Tschacher allowed 11 runs on four hits and 10 walks in 2.1 innings. Tschacher tallied two hits while Wyatt Dossey drove in a run in the loss.


Wagner 13, Platte/Geddes 3

GEDDES — Wagner drew 19 walks and added 10 hits to beat Platte/Geddes in Legion baseball action Thursday.

Carter Cournoyer had two RBIs on two hits and a walk, Joey Cournoyer tallied an RBI on a hit and four walks, Frank Soukup collected three hits, two doubles, two walks, and an RBI, Dominic Doom had an RBI on two hits and a walk, Malakai Segura added an RBI on a hit and two walks, while Edward Ulrich tallied three walks in the win. Cournoyer tossed four no-hit innings of relief for Wagner, striking out six.

For Platte/Geddes, Tommy Nelson allowed seven runs on four hits and six walks in 1.1 innings. Hayes DeVries and Bohde Kuiper each drove in a run on one hit while Asher Kott tallied two hits and an RBI in the loss. Nelson added two hits as well.


Lake Norden/Badger 8, Webster 0

WEBSTER — Dawson Noem tossed 11 strikeouts and collected four hits as Lake/Norden Badger blanked Webster in Legion action Thursday.

Noem tossed four shutout innings, allowing just one hit while striking out 11 in the win. Noem batted 4-for-4 with three doubles and three RBIs as well. Riggs Prouty tallied two RBIs on two hits while Ryland Thue and Caleb Drenth each collected an RBI on one hit in the win as well.

For Webster, Jack Shoemaker allowed seven runs on eight hits and two walks in 5.2 innings, striking out five. Blaize Amdahl and Ian Lesnar tallied the only hits of the game for Webster.

 

Volga 13, Redfield 1 (5 innings)

REDFIELD — Volga took advantage of six Redfield errors to earn a mercy rule victory in Legion action Thursday.

Kellon Tucker drove in a run on two hits, Braden Danzeisen and Bret Milton each drove in a run on one hit while Kam Hauck and Broden Teske each tallied hits in the win. Teske took the victory on the mound, allowing one run on three hits and five walks in five innings, striking out five.

For Redfield, C Odland allowed 11 unearned runs on five hits and five walks in 2.2 innings, striking out four. Micah Zastrow, Odland, and Jet Kleinsasser each tallied hits in the loss.


Big Stone City 9, Castlewood 5

CASTLEWOOD — Isaac Brown tossed 10 strikeouts in Big Stone City’s Legion baseball victory over Castlewood Thursday.

Brown took the victory on the mound, allowing five runs on nine hits and two walks in 6.1 innings, striking out 10 in the win. Connor Danielson drove in two runs, Braxton Bandriet had a hit, two walks and an RBI, while Carter Lee drove in a run on one hit in the win.

For Castlewood, Kaden Nedved allowed two runs on three hits and two walks in 6.1 shutout innings, striking out four. Mason Kimball drove in two runs on two hits, Nedved added three hits and an RBI, while Jarin Eidson tallied two hits and an RBI in the loss.


Big Stone City 12, Castlewood 2 (3 innings)

CASTLEWOOD — Big Stone City drew 12 walks in three innings to sweep Castlewood in Legion action Thursday.

Cadyn Vanderwal drove in a run on three walks, Ashton Sletten drove in a run on two walks, while Carter Lee and Josh Haugen each drove in two runs on one hit in the win. Three different pitchers combined for the win on the mound for BSC, with Connor Ohm tossing three strikeouts in two innings of work.

For Castlewood, Kolby Davis allowed eight runs on two hits and 10 walks in 2.1 innings, striking out three. Davis drove in a run on one hit in the loss.


Watertown 6, Marshall (Minn.) 2

WATERTOWN — Watertown scored four in the first inning to take game one of a Legion double header Thursday.

Kaden Rylance, Mitch Olson and Carter Buisker each had two hits and an RBI, while Hayden Ries, Nash Berg, Markus Pitkin and Johnathan Lake each tallied a hit in the win. Talan Jurgens took the victory on the mound, allowing two runs on three hits in four innings, striking out two.


Marshall (Minn.) 17, Watertown 4

WATERTOWN — Watertown gave up 10 runs in the fifth to split the double header Thursday.

Max Dylla allowed six runs on six hits and three walks in 2.2 innings, striking out three. Nathan Briggs drove in a run on one hit while Nash Berg added an RBI on a walk in the loss.
