Corsica Horned Frogs 7, Parkston Devil Rays 4

PARKSTON — Brendan Wentland struck out eight batters and Corsica pounded out 13 hits for a Sunshine League amateur baseball win on Sunday. 

Wentland allowed 11 hits, three earned runs, walked three batters and struck out eight on 142 pitches in the complete-game performance. Wentland also had a hit at the plate. 

Logan Bakker finished 2-for-5, drove in three runs and cracked a home run. Jayce Slaba went 3-for-5, had two doubles and drove in two runs. Blake Moke added three hits. Reggie Slaba had two hits and drove in a run. Tyson Wentland and Teddy Slaba had hits. 

For the Devil Rays, Carter Sommer, James Deckert, Ty Neugebauer and Caden Donahue each had two hits. Dylan Soulek drove in two runs. Landon Sudbeck and Tanner Dyk each had hits. Nolan Dvorak took the loss after allowing eight hits, five earned runs, zero walks and struck out two batters in three innings. 


Canova Gang 7, Salem Cubs 2

SALEM — A four-run inning separated Canova from Salem in Cornbelt League action Sunday.

Derek Miller, Kendall Gassman and Luke Koepsell each drove in a run on one hit, including a solo homer from Derek Miller, while Riley Genzlinger, Garrett Gassman, Jack Neises, Jason Miller, Kalub Carmichael and Jared Miller each had hits in the win. Kendall Gassman earned the victory on the mound, allowing one run on two hits in four innings, fanning four batters.

For Salem, Isaac Anderson allowed four runs on six hits and a walk in 5.1 innings, striking out four. Tyer Earls and Jacob Vonberge each drove in a run on one hit in the loss.


Platte Killer Tomatoes 4, Mount Vernon Mustangs 3 (10 innings)

GEDDES — Hunter Hewitt’s RBI sac-fly lifted Platte to a walk-off Sunshine League victory over Mount Vernon Sunday.

Hewitt tallied one hit and one RBI in the win, Hayden Kuiper added two hits, a homer, driving in two runs, while Michael Buitenbos, Preston Nedved and Matt Link each tallied hits in the win. Grant Doom took the victory on the mound in a 10-inning effort, allowing three runs on six hits and a walk, striking out 10 batters.

For MV, Deric Denning took the loss, surrendering four runs on six hits and four walks in 9.2 innings, striking out five. Eric Giblin cracked two hits, a solo homer, and two RBIs, Brady Albrecht added an RBI on one hit  while Spencer Neugebauer, Eric Denning and Austin Graves each had hits in the loss.


Menno MadFrogs 10, Lesterville Broncs 9

LESTERVILLE — With bases loaded in the ninth, Menno hung on late to beat Lesterville in South Central League action Sunday.

Connor Merriam tallied four hits and two RBIs, Macon Oplinger added three RBIs on a homer and a walk, Spencer Schultz collected three RBIs on two hits while Dylan Lehr recorded an RBI on two hits in the win. Doug Hall earned the victory on the mound in six innings of work, allowing eight runs on 10 hits and two walks while striking out seven.

For Lesterville, Alex Wagner allowed seven runs on seven hits and a walk in seven innings, striking out 10. Tyler Edler drove in three runs on two hits, one homer, Ethan Wishon added three hits and a walk, including a solo home run, Derek Quame and Tanner Skorepa each collected two hits, a walk, and an RBI, including a solo homer from Quame, while Hunter Martin drove in a run on one hit. Skyler Bloch added two hits and an RBI in the win as well.


Alexandria Angels 10, Winner/Colome Pheasants 2

ALEXANDRIA — Jerrod Zens tallied five hits and five RBIs to power Alexandria to a Sunshine League victory over Winner/Colome Sunday.

Zens batted a perfect 5-for-5 with two homers, driving in five runs in the win, Michael Schoettmer, Jordan Gau and Pierce Smith each tallied an RBI on two hits while Jacob Giles recorded two hits and two RBIs in the win. Alex Ferrin took the win on the mound, surrendering two runs on seven hits and four walks in nine innings of work, striking out six.

For WC, Connor Hopkins allowed five runs on 12 hits in seven innings of work. Oscar Pravacek tallied an RBI single while Kelly O’Bryan drove in a run on two hits in the loss.


Milbank Firechiefs 3, Castlewood Ravens 2

MILBANK — Dom Boerger tossed 22 strikeouts as Milbank handed Castlewood its first Eastern Dakota League loss this season on Sunday.

Boerger allowed two runs on four hits in nine innings of work, tossing 22 strikeouts in the win. Kellen Hoeke tallied an RBI on two hits, one double, Taylor Boerger added an RBI double, while Brady Krause collected two hits in the win.

For Castlewood, Alex Gauer took the loss, surrendering three runs on seven hits and a walk in eight innings, striking out 11 batters despite the losing effort. Gauer drove in a run on one hit, while Nate Phinney, Booker Schooley and Adam Ching each tallied hits in the loss.


Kimball/White Lake Nationals 14, Burke Bombers 1 (7 innings)

KIMBALL — Ethan Price struck out seven in five shutout innings as Kimball/White Lake knocked off Burke in Pony Hills League action Sunday.

Price allowed one hit and three walks in five innings, striking out seven to take the win on the mound. Dylanger Pierson tallied a three-run homer, adding a walk, Jesse Kroupa had three RBIs on two hits and a walk, Wes Kroupa collected two RBIs on one hit, Dylan Konechne and Tucker Wookey had an RBI on two hits and a walk, Keaton Christensen tallied an RBI single, Cooper Leifman had two hits and a walk while Caleb Crist added three hits, two doubles, in the win.

For Burke, Gannon Thomas allowed eight runs on nine hits and a walk in three innings, striking out two. Blake Boes hit a solo home run for the only score of the game for the Bombers.


Plankinton F&M Bankers 9, Colome Chaos 6

PLANKINTON — Plankinton held off a late Colome rally to take another Pony Hills League victory Sunday.

Keagan Hill tallied three RBIs on one hit for Plankinton, Thomas Stange added two RBIs on two hits and two walks, Cain Tobin recorded an RBI on a hit and two walks while four other players recorded a hit in the contest. Stange took the victory on the mound in a seven inning outing, allowing four runs on six hits and four walks, striking out seven.

For Colome, Carter Brickman allowed eight runs on seven hits and four walks in 3.1 innings, striking out four. Joey Cole drove in two runs on two hits and a walk, including a homer, Brickman added two RBIs on a double, Ethan Vobr drove in a run on two hits and a walk while Riley Orel had an RBI in the loss as well.


Chamberlain Mallards 10, Wessington Springs Owls 3

CHAMBERLAIN — Chamberlain collected 14 hits as the Mallards defeated Wessington Springs in Pony Hills League action Sunday.

Dakota Munger led the Mallards batting 4-for-4 with a walk and three RBIs, Ryan Covelans had four hits, two doubles, and two RBIs, Kyle Forester and Timothy Travis each tallied two hits and an RBI while Sandler Wiekamp added an RBI on a hit and two walks in the win. Dakota Munger earned the victory on the mound in his seven inning start, allowing three runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out eight.

For WS, Terrek Butterfield allowed seven runs on eight hits and three walks in 4.1 innings to take the loss, striking out seven. Camden Jost tallied two RBIs on two hits, one triple, Cade Mohling added three hits while Blake Larson collected two hits and a walk in the loss.


Dimock/Emery Raptors 13, Parkston Mudcats 4

EMERY — Cole Knippling’s six RBI game lifted Dimock/Emery to a Sunshine League victory over Parkston Sunday.

Knippling tallied six RBIs on two hits, including a grand slam, Jason Schmidt had two hits and a walk, including a home run, driving in two runs, Josh Engquist tallied three RBIs on a homer and two walks, Drew Kitchens added an RBI on a hit and two walks, while Landon Waddell drove in a run on a walk in the win. Schmidt earned the victory on the mound in seven innings, allowing four runs on nine hits and two walks, striking out 11 batters in the win.

For the Mudcats, Max Scott allowed two runs on two hits in three innings, striking out two. Scott also batted 2-for-4 with two RBIs while Jeff Harris and Brady Bierma each had two hits in the loss.


Hartford/Humboldt Gamecocks 5, Flandreau Blue Teal 3

HUMBOLDT — The Gamecocks scored five runs in the final three innings to stun Flandreau in Cornbelt League action Sunday.

Cam Quigley had three hits and an RBI while Ryan Holgate, Jonah Rechtenbaugh and Adam Hentges each tallied an RBI on one hit in the win. Noah Vettrus took the victory on the mound in four shutout innings, allowing four hits while striking out four.

For Flandreau, Sam Gassman allowed five runs on 11 hits and three walks in 7.2 innings, striking out six. Kolby Peters, Tash Lunday and Tristen Peters each drove in a run on a combined four walks while Emmot Nathan tallied three hits, one double, in the loss.


Yankton Lakers 15, Crofton (Neb.) Bluejays 4 (7 innings)

YANKTON — Will Rauch and Waylon McNight each drove in four runs as Yankton remains unbeaten in South Central League action.

Rauch tallied two hits, one triple, two walks and four RBIs while McNight had four RBIs on two hits, one homer and a walk. Lucas Kampshoff recorded two RBIs on a double, Colin Zahrbock and Mac Ryken each tallied an RBI on two hits while Cade Sudbeck added an RBI on a hit and two walks in the win. Kieren Luellman took the win in six innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks in six innings, striking out four.

For Crofton, Ben Hegge allowed nine runs on seven hits and five walks in four innings, striking out three. Wilson Munzke tallied two hits, a double, and three RBIs, Tyler Koch had an RBI on two hits while four other hitters cracked a base hit in the loss.


Lake Norden Lakers 14, Estelline Merchants 4

ESTELLINE — Tony Campbell drove in four runs as Lake Norden defeated Estelline in Eastern Dakota League action Sunday.

Campbell tallied two doubles and four RBIs, Ryan Thue and Jesse Vanoverbeke each drove in a run on one hit, while Trevor Thue collected two hits and an RBI in the win. Trevor Thue earned the victory on the mound, allowing four runs on six hits and six walks in seven innings, striking out eight.

For Estelline, Isaac Schulte allowed 14 runs on 11 hits and eight walks in nine innings pitched, striking out six. Austin Suther drove in a run on one hit, Jake Goodfellow recorded an RBI on two walks while Jesus Jacobo tallied two hits in the loss.


Clark Traders 12, Groton Locke Electric 7

CLARK — Clark scored 10 runs in the third inning in the Traders win over Groton in non-league amateur baseball action Sunday.

Zach Toben tallied two hits, a double and a homer, and four RBIs, Grayson Florey and Braedon Zaug each recorded two RBIs on two hits, including two doubles from Florey and one from Zaug, Andrew Magedanz added an RBI on a hit and a walk while Brent Giffith tallied two hits in the win. Hudson Fuller allowed seven runs on 11 hits and a walk in nine innings, striking out five in the winning effort.

For Groton, Alex Morris allowed 12 runs on 12 hits and a walk in eight innings, striking out six to take the loss. Brian Hansen and Jonah Schmidt each drove in two runs on two hits, including a homer from Schmidt, Ben Althoff drove in a run on a double while Ryan Groeblinghoff and Austin Jones each tallied two hits in the loss.


Dell Rapids PBR 9, Dell Rapids Mudcats 3

DELL RAPIDS — Drew Sweeter drove in a trio of runs as Dell Rapids PBR defeated the Dell Rapids Mudcats in a cross-town Cornbelt League showdown Sunday.

Sweeter collected three RBIs on two hits, a triple, and a walk, Cris Kropuenske added two RBIs on two hits, one homer, and a walk, Riley Hoffman added three hits and an RBI, Riley Calhoon recorded two hits and an RBI while Zack Puetz tallied an RBI on one hit and two walks in the win. Hoffman took the victory on the mound in six innings, allowing three runs on 10 hits while striking out four.

For the Mudcats, Austin Henry allowed eight runs on 11 hits and four walks in 4.2 innings, striking out seven. Ty Hoglund, Reece Arbogast and Henry each drove in a run on one hit in the loss.


Elkton Snappers 18, Ramona Express 7 (8 innings)

RAMONA — Elkton pounded out 29 hits in its Eastern Dakota League victory over Ramona Sunday.

Aidan Stewart batted 5-for-6 with a double and two homers, driving in three runs, Dylan Gillespie tallied four hits, a double and a homer, driving in six total runs, Charles Harming had four hits, Dave Bierman and Brady Steffen each tallied three hits and an RBI, including a solo homer from Bierman, Dylan Kuehl totaled two hits and two RBIs, Billy Stuefen drove in three runs on two hits, Aiden Erickson had two hits and an RBI, while Devin Sopko drove in a run on one hit in the win. Eliot Erickson added two hits in the win as well. Kuehl allowed four runs on three hits and nine walks in three innings to take the win on the mound, striking out three.

For Ramona, Ken Longman allowed 18 runs on 29 hits in eight innings to take the loss. Will Matson drove in two runs on two hits and two walks, Jeremiah Hoekman added two RBIs on a hit and a walk, Connor Libis and Aaron Schlosser each tallied a hit and two walks while Logan DeRungs drove in a run for the Express as well in the loss.


Madison Dairy Queen Broncos 11, Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks 4

MADISON — Madison pounded out 13 hits as the Broncos took down Hartford/Humboldt in Cornbelt League action Sunday.

Heith Williams had four hits, one double, Tyler Tappe recorded three hits and two RBIs, Peyton Wolf added two hits and an RBI, Dawson Bakker recorded two RBIs on a home run, Mitch McNary totaled an RBI on a hit and a walk while Thomas Mechels drove in a run in the win. Tappe took the win on the mound in five innings, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks.

For the Wood Ducks, Brayden Odegaard allowed five runs on three hits and three walks in 1.2 innings pitched. Hunter Den Boer had three hits, one homer, and three RBIs, Odegaard tallied an RBI on a double while five other batters cracked hits in the loss.


Redfield Dairy Queen 9, Northville Merchants 4

NORTHVILLE — Redfield scores eight runs in the final three frames to stun Northville in Northern Plains League action Sunday.

Noah Hainy tallied two RBIs on three hits, Cooper Hainy added two hits, a walk and an RBI, while Camden Osborn, Peyton Osborn and Nathan Hainy each tallied an RBI on one hit in the win. Nolan Gall allowed three runs on six hits and eight walks in 6.2 innings, striking out seven to take the win on the mound.

For Northville, Jeremiah Maxfield allowed six runs on six hits and three walks in 2.2 innings, striking out five. Ashton Remily tallied three hits and an RBI, Greg Heyne tallied an RBI on a hit and two walks while Logan Fischbach recorded an RBI on a walk in the loss.


Flandreau Cardinals 14, Colman A’s 4 (7 innings)

FLANDREAU — Flandreau pounded out 14 hits as the Cardinals earned a Cornbelt League victory over Colman Sunday.

Keith Cutler led the Cardinals with three hits, two doubles and an RBi, Jacob Patterson and JaColby Anderson each drove in three runs on two hits, Austin Koenig and Austin King each drove in a run on two hits, Grant Hieb added two RBIs on a hit and a walk while Curt Anderson added an RBI on a double in the win. Bret Severtson took the win on the mound, allowing three runs on 10 hits in six innings, striking out five.

Colman’s stats were not reported.


Tabor Bluebirds 16, Irene Cardinals 2 (5 innings)

TABOR — Matt Brown drove in five runs as Tabor defeated Irene in game one of an amateur baseball double header Sunday.

Brown tallied five RBIs on three hits, including a double and a homer, Chase Kortan collected three RBIs on two hits, one double, Joey Slama and Beau Rothschadl each recorded two RBIs on two hits and a walk, including a homer from Rothschadl, while Sam Caba and Riley Rothschadl each tallied an RBI on one hit in the win. Bryse Scieszinski took the win on the mound, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks in five innings, striking out nine.

For Irene, Cole Edberg tossed 3.2 innings, allowing nine runs on six hits and five walks, striking out three. Marcus VanDriel and Edberg each tallied an RBI on one hit in the loss.


Tabor Bluebirds 16, Irene Cardinals 0 (3 innings)

TABOR — Five different batters drove in multiple runs as Tabor upended Irene in three innings to sweep Sunday’s South Central League double header.

Beau Rothschadl connected on a homer, driving in three runs, Chase Kortan drove in three runs on a double and a walk, Joey Slama added two RBIs on two hits, Matt Brown had two RBIs on a double and a walk while Sam Caba recorded an RBI single in the win. Riley Rothschadl tallied an RBI on three walks in the win as well. Brown took the victory on the mound in three shutout innings, allowing two hits and three walks while striking out three.

For Irene, Bailey Neuhauser allowed eight runs on two hits and four walks in 1.1 innings, striking out one. Alex Kopf and Dustin Livingston each tallied a hit in the loss.


Lennox/Chancellor/Worthing Dirt Devils 3, Beresford Blues 1

LENNOX — Dylan Vosburg tossed six shutout innings as Lennox/Chancellor/Worthing beat Beresford in State Line League action Sunday.

Vosburg allowed just three hits and two walks in six innings, striking out five in the win. Peyton Garbers tallied two hits while Quentin Evers drove in two runs on a double and a homer in the win.

For Beresford, Izaak Reed allowed three runs on eight hits and a walk in eight innings pitched, striking out one. Zach Boden collected three hits and an RBI while Payton Borah added two hits in the loss.


Tea Steam 4, Akron (Iowa) Rebels 0 (7 innings)

AKRON — Braxton Mulder struck out 13 as Tea defeated Akron in State Line League action Sunday.

Mulder tossed six shutout innings, allowing two hits and four walks while fanning 13 in the win. Troy Ljunggren tallied two hits and two RBIs, Austin Portner had an RBI double while Dawson Portner collected two hits, one double, in the win.


Tea Steam 4, Akron (Iowa) Rebels 3 (7 innings)

AKRON — A walk-off wild pitch pushed Tea to a State Line League double header sweep over Akron in amateur baseball action Sunday.

Troy Ljunggren tallied two hits and two RBIs, Marcus Bolin collected an RBI single while Michael Buchman recorded two hits and a walk in the win. Cameron Jensen took the win on the mound in one inning of relief, recording one strikeout.


Harrisburg Woodies 12, Sioux Falls Brewers 4

HARRISBURG — A seven-run first inning powered Harrisburg to a Sioux Empire League victory over the Sioux Falls Brewers Sunday.

Mark Abrahamson drove in four runs on three hits, including a double and a homer, Carson Drexler tallied a grand slam, adding two walks as well, Isaac Loosmore totaled two hits and an RBI, while Nathan Motl, Kole Zimmerman and Josh Baumgart each drove in a run on one hit in the win. Kris Regas took the win on the mound in five innings, allowing four runs on eight hits, fanning eight batters.

For the Brewers, Brian Fuez took the loss, allowing 11 runs on nine hits and two walks, striking out two in 3.1 innings. Andrew Langner tallied two doubles and an RBI, Carter Gronseth drove in a run on one hit while Drue Soukup collected three hits, two doubles in the loss.


Sioux Falls Flying Squirrels 6, Brandon Belugas 5

SIOUX FALLS — Trevor Hurley struck out Daniel Buteyn with bases loaded in the ninth as the Flying Squirrels hung on to beat Brandon in Sioux Empire League action Sunday.

Vanderhye allowed one run on one hit and four walks in three innings, striking out five. Jake Wheeler started the game for the Squirrels, allowing four runs on nine hits and three walks in six innings of work, striking out two. Connor Hurley and Ryan Costlello each tallied two hits and an RBI, Lucas Wilber added an RBI on a hit and three walks, Zach Dibble recorded two hits and a walk while Raf Hernandez added two RBIs on one hit in the win.

For Brandon, Kellan Johns took the loss in six innings of work, allowing five runs on seven hits and four walks. Joe Lund drove in two runs on two hits, Austin Reiter added an RBI on two hits, Buteyen recorded three walks and an RBI while Charlie Holm and Tyler Sandbulte each tallied two hits and a walk in the loss.
