Parkston Devil Rays 9, Mitchell Aces 5

MITCHELL — Jake Helleloid struck out 10 batters as the Parkston Devil Rays upended Mitchell in Sunshine League action Thursday.

Helleloid allowed five hits and two walks in six shutout innings, fanning 10 batters in the win. James Deckert led the offense batting 3-for-4 with a walk and three RBIs, Carter Sommer drove in two runs on two hits, one double, while Nolan Dvorak, Dylan Soulek and Caden Donahue each drove in one run on one hit in the win.

For Mitchell, Blake Brosz allowed seven runs on seven hits and three walks in 6.2 innings, striking out three. Carter Miller drove in a run on three hits, Peyton Mandel had an RBI on two hits, Karter Sibson added two RBIs on one hit while Conor Mattke recorded two hits in the loss.


Tabor Bluebirds 10, Crofton (Neb.) Bluejays 9

TABOR — Joey Slama’s RBI single pushed Tabor to a walk-off win over Crofton Thursday.

Slama drove in three runs on two hits, Easton Mudder added two RBIs on two hits, Sam Caba recorded two hits and an RBI, Beau Rothschadl had an RBI on one hit while Riley Rothschadl and Bryce Scieszinski each tallied an RBI on a walk in the win. Scieszinski took the win on the mound, allowing six runs on six hits and two walks in six innings, striking out 13 batters.

For Crofton, Zach Hegge took the loss, allowing six runs on six hits and a walk in four innings, striking out five. Austin Gobel tallied four hits and an RBI, while Seth Wiebelhaus and Tyler Koch each drove in a run on one hit in the loss.


Dell Rapids Mudcats 5, Salem Cubs 4

SALEM — Dell Rapids scored three runs in the ninth inning to stun Salem in Cornbelt League action Thursday.

Josh Roeman tallied two doubles and an RBI, Travis Peters added two RBIs on one hit while Treyse Eastman and Grant Olson each had an RBI on one hit in the win. Jake Goble took the win on the mound in two shutout innings, allowing one hit and two walks while striking out six.

For Salem, Cameron Jones allowed one run on one hit and two walks in one inning, striking out two. Bobby Koepsell tallied two RBIs on two hits, Cole Cheesman drove in a run while Isaac Anderson tallied an RBI on one hit in the win.


Colman A’s 2, Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks 1

HUMBOLDT — Paul Clark’s complete game on the mound lifted Colman to a Cornbelt League victory over the Wood Ducks Thursday.

Clark tossed nine innings, allowing one run on five hits and a walk while striking out six. Clark also tallied two hits and an RBI in the win.

For HH, Andrew Zimmer allowed two runs on four hits and two walks in six innings, striking out 10 in the loss. Jearl Jesson tallied two hits, a solo home run and a double, adding a walk in the loss.


Four Corners 2, Chamberlain Mallards 1

CHAMBERLAIN — Jack Van Camp struck out 14 batters as Four Corners clipped Chamberlain in Pony Hills League action Thursday.

Van Camp allowed one run on two hits and four walks in 7.2 innings, striking out 14 to take the win on the mound. Garret Stout drove in a run on two hits in the win while five other batters collected a hit in the win.

For Chamberlain, Timothy Travis allowed one run on five hits and four walks in seven innings, striking out six. Mike Schwartz and Travis each tallied hits in the loss.


Flandreau Cardinals 14, Flandreau Blue Teal 11

FLANDREAU — The Cardinals outlasted the Blue Teal in a Flandreau showdown Thursday.

Austin Koenig drove in three runs on two hits and a walk, Keith Cutler added three hits, a walk, and an RBI, Brian McGuire tallied two RBIs on a hit and two walks, Noel Burgos and Austin King each tallied an RBI on one hit while Bret Severtson added two hits in the win. Kasen Grengs took the win on the mound in 2.1 innings, allowing five runs on seven hits and a walk, striking out two.

For the Blue Teal, Emmot Nathan took the loss, surrendering nine runs on eight hits and four walks in five innings. Nathan drove in three runs on three hits, including two homers, Micah Otto had two RBIs on two hits, Tristan Van Wassenhove tallied three hits and an RBI, Tanner Christenson totaled two RBIs on one hit while Kolby Peters and Tash Lunday each drove in a run on two hits in the win. 


Canova Gang 5, Madison Dairy Queen Broncos 2

MADISON — Justin Miller drove in four runs as Canova put away Madison in Cornbelt League action Thursday.

Miller had four RBIs on two hits, including a home run in the win, while Luke Koepsell collected two hits for the Gang. Jack Neises tossed two shutout innings to take the win on the mound for Canova.

For Madison, JD Kirchner allowed four runs on six hits and four walks in eight innings, striking out nine in the loss. Dawson Bakker had an RBI single in the loss, while Nate Ricke drove in a run as well.


Elk Point Colt .45’s 11, Parker Ringnecks 3

ELK POINT — Hunter Ingwerson hit two home runs as Elk Point earned a State Line League victory over Parker Thursday.

Ingwerson drove in four runs on three hits, including two home runs, Priebe added two RBIs on two hits, Kayden had two RBIs on one hit, while Logan Bobzin collected three hits, two doubles, and an RBI. Ashton Pick took the victory on the mound, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks in seven innings, striking out seven.

For Parker, Zach Schrank allowed nine runs on nine hits and three walks in four innings, striking out four. Jevin Erickson collected two hits in the loss for the Ringnecks.


Dell Rapids PBR 9, Hartford/Humboldt Gamecocks 4

DELL RAPIDS — Dell Rapids pounded out 11 hits as PBR upended Hartford/Humboldt in Cornbelt League action Thursday.

Conner Spindler and Chris Kropuenske each tallied an RBI on two hits, Tad Tjaden, Riley Calhoon and Grant Sweeter each drove in a run on one hit, Riley Hoffman collected two RBIs on a hit and a walk while Zack Puetz totaled two hits and a walk in the win. Brett Mogen earned the victory on the mound in six innings, allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out four.

For the Gamecocks, Jonah Rechtenbaugh allowed five runs on five hits and three walks in 3.2 innings, striking out two. Cam Quigley and Chad Morrison each drove in a run on one hit while Kyle Konechne tallied an RBI in the loss.


Lennox/Chancellor/Worthing Dirt Devils 12, Akron (Iowa) Rebels 6

LENNOX — Lennox/Chancellor/Worthing pounded out 14 hits as it defeated Akron in State Line League action Thursday.

Isaac Bambas tallied three hits and two RBIs, including a home run, Aiden McCafferty tallied three RBIs on a homer and a walk, Camden Berndt and Wyatt Adam each tallied an RBI on one hit, while Bailey Ludens totaled three hits in the win. Bambas earned the victory on the mound in seven innings, allowing three runs on eight hits and five walks, striking out six.

For Akron, Braxton Hundes allowed six runs on seven hits and two walks in 5.1 innings, striking out one. Connor Wendel, Jared Kirkeby and Luke Hughes each drove in a run on one hit, Christian Stekl had two RBIs on a hit and a walk in the loss.


Kimball/White Lake Nationals 13, Wessington Springs Owls 0 (7 innings)

WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Kimball/White Lake scored 13 runs in the final two innings to shutout Wessington Springs in Pony Hills League amateur baseball action on Thursday. The National scored 10 runs in the sixth inning, and three more in the seventh to secure the win.

KWL’s Jaxon Christensen finished 3-for-4, drove in six runs and smacked a two-run homer to jump start the offense in the sixth inning. Dylanger Pierson and Dylan Konechne finished with two hits apiece. Jesse Kroupa drove in two runs. Mitch Price struck out six batters, allowed two hits, zero runs and zero walks in six innings for the win.

For Wessington Springs, Cade Mohling had the team’s two lone hits. Mason Schelske struck out six batters, allowed eight hits, three earned runs and two walks in five innings.  


Burke Bombers 6, Colome Chaos 2

BURKE — JJ Farner struck out 11 batters as Burke defeated Colome in Pony Hills League action Thursday.

Farner allowed two runs on four hits and four walks in nine innings, striking out 11 in the win. Hunter Van Niewenhuyse batted 4-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, Ben Witt added three hits, Aaron Sundquist collected two RBIs on one hit while Gannon Thomas and Dan Jons each recorded two hits in the win.

For Colome, Jake Luse allowed six runs on 13 hits and four walks in eight innings, striking out two. Ethan Vobr tallied two hits and two RBIs in the loss for the Chaos.


Winner Demons 13, Plankinton F&M Bankers 8

WINNER — Ethan Bartels struck out 11 batters as WInner hung on to beat Plankinton in Pony Hills League action Thursday.

Bartels allowed four runs on three hits and six walks in seven innings, striking out 11 in the win. Kayleb Brozik tallied three hits, including a solo home run for the Demons, Ashton Klein and Pierce Nelson each had two RBIs on one hit, combining for four walks, Landon Calhoon had two RBIs on a double and three walks while Casey Heenan had two hits, a walk, and two RBIs in the win.

For Plankinton, Devin Mehlhaff allowed five runs on five hits and four walks in five innings, striking out five. Thomas Stange drove in four runs on two hits and a walk, Blaine Bohr collected an RBI on two hits, including a double, while Cain Tobin and Cole Pranger each had an RBI on one hit and one walk in the loss.


Winner/Colome Pheasants 5, Mount Vernon Mustangs 2

MOUNT VERNON — Austin Richey and Kelly O’Bryan both hammered home runs as Winner/Colome defeated Mount Vernon in Sunshine League amateur baseball action on Thursday.

Richey hit a solo homer, while O’Bryan went 2-for-2 and smacked a two-run homer. Isaiah Olson finished 2-for-4, while Derek Graesser, Drew DeMers, Reed Harter and Oscar Pravacek each had hits. Austin Calhoon earned the win after five strikeouts, seven hits allowed, two earned runs allowed and five walks in a complete-game performance.

For MV, Cam Deinert had two hits and hit a double. Spencer Neugebauer, Eric Giblin, Daniel Laufman, Austin Graves and Cody Cavanaugh each had hits. Laufman and Graves drove in runs. Giblin took the loss, allowing four hits, four earned runs, three walks and struck out one batter in two innings. 


Alexandria Angels 11, Corsica Horned Frogs 1 (8 innings)

ALEXANDRIA — Eight Alexandria produced 14 hits en route to a Sunshine League amateur baseball win on Thursday. 

Tyson Gau finished 4-for-5, hit a double and drove in two runs. Cole Wenande had two doubles and drove in three runs. Pierce Smith and Esten Schlimgen had two hits apiece, while Smith drove in a run. Jacob Svihovec drove in two runs. Jordan Gau and Jacob Giles both drove in runs. Landon Ruesink struck out eight batters, allowed four hits, one earned run and walked three batters in seven innings for the win.

For Corsica, Brendan Wentland, Blake Moke, Nathan Blom and Carter Wright each had hits. Wright drove in the lone run. Blom struck out two batters, allowed five hits, three earned runs and walked three batters in six innings. 


Yankton Lakers 18, Freeman Blacksox 0 (7 innings)

FREEMAN — Lucas Kampshoff and Cade Sudbeck combined for three home runs in Yankton’s South Central League victory over Freeman Thursday.

Kampshoff drove in five runs on two hits, a double and a homer, while Subeck had four RBIs on two homers and a hit. Will Rauch drove in three runs on two hits,a double, and a walk, Josh Sheldon recorded two RBIs on two hits, Mac Ryken recorded two RBIs on a hit and a walk, while Rex Ryken tallied an RBI on one hit. Drew Ryken tallied three hits in the win as well. Drew Ryken took the win on the mound in six shutout innings, allowing four hits and a walk while striking out six.

For Freeman, Colton Spader allowed 18 runs on 15 hits and five walks in seven innings, striking out two. Sawyer Wipf, Austin Smidt, Evan Scharberg and Rocky Ammann each tallied a hit in the loss.


Garretson Blue Jays 16, Parkston Mudcats 13 (7 innings) 

GARRETSON — Dustin Steckler totaled four RBIs as Garretson outlasted Parkston in non-league amateur baseball action Thursday.

Steckler drove in four runs on two hits, a double and a walk, Robin Chute and Trey Buckneberg each tallied two RBIs on two hits, including a homer from Buckneberg, Sam Siegel added two RBIs on a double and a walk while Brett Fischer and Tayson Swatek each collected two hits and an RBI in the win. Buckneberg took the win on the mound in 1.2 innings, allowing four runs on four hits and three walks while striking out two.

For Parkston, Brayden Jervik took the loss, allowing 12 runs on nine hits and four walks in four innings, striking out two. Kaleb Weber and Max Scott each tallied three hits and three RBIs, Jervik drove in two runs on two hits, Luke Bormann had two hits, a double and a walk, driving in a run, while Jeff Harris, Will Jodozie and Jake Weber each had an RBI on one hit in the loss.


Sioux Falls Flying Squirrels 13, Sioux City (Iowa) Futures 0 (7 innings)

SIOUX FALLS — Cam Gadbois tossed seven shutout innings as Sioux Falls shutout Sioux City, Iowa, in non-league action Thursday.

Gadbois allowed four hits and three walks while striking out 11 batters in the win. Gadbois also drove in two runs on a homer and two walks as well. Lucas Wilber drove in two runs on three hits, Trevor Hurley and Kyle Gulbrandson each drove in two runs on two hits and a combined three walks, while Damon Baruth and Jaxen DeHann each had two RBIs in the win.
