Tabor 9, Wagner 2

PLATTE — Tabor pounded out 10 hits as it eliminated Wagner from Region 4B tournament action Wednesday.

Jackson Kaul tallied three hits and an RBI, Jace Toupal drove in two runs on a double, Landon Schmidt had two hits and an RBI while Madden Merkwan, Major Aarstad and Isaiah Crownover each drove in a run on one hit in the win. Alex Adler took the win on the mound, allowing one run on five hits and three walks in five innings, striking out three.

For Wagner,  Edward Ulrich allowed six runs on six hits and a walk in four innings, striking out three. Frank Soukup and Dominic Doom each tallied two hits while Ulrich had two hits, a walk and an RBI in the loss.

Tabor will face Scotland/Menno/Freeman/Canistota in the Region 4B championship at 2 p.m. Thursday.


Wagner 3, Platte/Geddes 2

PLATTE — Trasin Dilts RBI single in the seventh lifted Wagner to a Region 4B elimination win over Platte/Geddes Wednesday.

Dilts finished the game with an RBI single and one walk, while Frank Soukup, Edward UIrich, Javian Pesicka, Dominic Doom and Landon Mudder each had a hit in the win. Pesicka earned the victory on the mound in a complete game performance, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk, striking out eight.

For Wagner, Hayden Sprik took the loss, allowing two runs on three hits and nine walks in five innings, striking out four. Kenyon Kuiper tallied two hits and an RBI on a solo homer, Sprik tallied an RBI single while Keaton Christensen had two hits in the loss.


Scotland/Menno/Freeman/Canistota 7, Tabor 4

PLATTE — A three-run seventh inning separated Scotland/Menno/Freeman/Canistota from Tabor in the 79ers Region 4B semifinal win Wednesday.

Easton Tschetter drove in two runs on two hits, Tayden Kerrigan added three hits and an RBI, Bryce Sattler drove in two runs on one hit, Kory Keppen added three hits while Sawyer Wipf and Oliver Waltner each drove in a run on one hit for the 79ers. Tannen Auch earned the win on the mound, allowing one hit in 1.2 innings of relief.

For Tabor, Madden Merkwan allowed six runs on 11 hits and three walks in six innings, striking out five. Landon Bares tallied an RBI on two hits, Merkwan drove in a run on one hit, Isaiah Crownover added an RBI as well, while Major Aarstad, Jace Toupal and Calvin Caba each had two hits in the loss.

SMFC will face Tabor in the Region 4B championship Thursday.


Parkston 5, Alexandria 0

SALEM — Carter Sommer tossed 12 strikeouts as Parkston Post 194 advanced to the Region 5B championship game Wednesday.

Sommer allowed just two hits in seven shutout innings, fanning 12 Alexandria batters in just 86 pitches. Taite Klumb and Sommer each drove in a run on one hit, Drew Braley added an RBI as well, while James Deckert batted 2-for-4 in the win.

For Alexandria, AJ Wilber took the loss, surrendering five runs on six hits in seven innings, striking out six. Brayden Bahmuller and Carter Popp each tallied a hit in the loss.

Parkston will face Alexandria for the Region 5B championship Thursday.


Salem 4, Colton 3

SALEM — Salem came back from a three-run deficit to eliminate Colton in Region 5B tournament action Wednesday.

Shea Klinkhammer tallied two hits, a double and an RBI, Carter Randall added two hits, Korbin Shumaker drove in a run while Zane McCormick had two RBIs on one hit in the win. Randall took the win on the mound in seven complete innings, allowing three runs on nine hits and two walks, striking out three.

For Colton, Tristen Bunde took the loss allowing one unearned run on one hit in 1.1 innings. Braxton Allen drove in a run on two hits and a walk, Carter Sorenson tallied an RBI on one hit while Mason Hemme added two hits in the loss.


Winner/Colome 14, Gregory 0 (5 innings)

GREGORY — Aiden Schroeder and Konner Osborn drove in six combined runs in Winner/Colome’s Region 7B semifinal win over Gregory Wednesday.

Schroeder batted 3-for-4 with three RBIs while Osborn added two hits, a double, and three RBIs as well. Gavin Risse and Isaiah Olson each drove in two runs on one hit, Landon Calhoon had two hits, a double and an RBI, while Jackson Eisemann recorded an RBI on a hit and two walks in the win. Schroeder earned the win on the mound in five shutout innings, allowing two hits while striking out three in just 48 pitches. 

Hudson Fuhrer tossed three innings for Gregory, allowing four runs on four hits and a walk in three innings. Noah Bearshield and Schonebaum each had a hit in the loss.

Winner/Colome will face Belle Fourche in the Region 7B championship Thursday.


Belle Fourche 13, Chamberlain 6

GREGORY — A seven-run seventh inning separated Belle Fourche from Chamberlain in a Region 7B elimination game Wednesday.

Gavin Pearson drove in three runs on a double in the win, Harvey Walding added two hits, a walk and an RBI, while Caeyn Howard, Carsyn Hahne, Trig Thomsen and Graham VanderBoom each drove in a run in the win. Walding earned the victory on the mound in 1.2 innings, allowing one unearned run on one hit.

For Chamberlain, Jeric Klages allowed six runs on three hits and five walks in six innings pitched, striking out two. Kruse Brennan drove in two runs on a hit in the loss for Chamberlain.


Belle Fourche 4, Gregory 0

GREGORY — Nolan Wahlfeldt’s complete game on the mound helped Belle Fourche to a shutout victory over Gregory in the final elimination in Region 7B action.

Wahlfeldt allowed just three hits and two walks in seven innings, striking out seven in the win. Trig Thomsen, Daven Kracht and Raif Parmeter each drove in a run on one hit in the win.

For Gregory, Cruz Klundt allowed three runs on four hits and five walks in four innings, striking out five. Landon Keiser, Noah Bearshield and Colt Keiser each tallied a hit in the loss for Gregory.

BF will face Winner/Colome in the Region 7B championship Thursday.


Dell Rapids 6, Madison 1

DELL RAPIDS — Tad Tjaden fanned 11 batters in Dell Rapids Region 2B semifinal win over Madison Wednesday.

Tjaden allowed just one run on four hits and three walks in seven innings of work, striking out 11 to take the win on the mound. Tjaden also drove in a run on two hits in the win. Talan Millage recorded two hits and an RBI while Connor Hanson, Jackson Peppel and Gauge Bunkers each drove in a run on one hit in the win.

For Madison, JD Prorok took the loss, allowing four runs on five hits and four walks in six innings, striking out seven. Gavin Schenider tallied an RBI on one hit while Carson Wolf, Tregg McGillivray and Cohen Hahn each had hits in the loss.

Dell Rapids will face Volga in the Region 2B championship Thursday.


Volga 21, Castlewood 2 (5 innings)

DELL RAPIDS — Volga took advantage of nine Castlewood errors to eliminate Post 250 in Region 2B action Wednesday.

Levi Loban drove in four runs on three hits, including a double, Braden Danzeisen had three RBIs on two hits, including a homer, Kam Hauck and Tate Steffensen combined for three RBIs on three walks, while Jake Burns and Hunter Steinhaus each drove in a run on one hit in the win. Burns earned the win on the mound allowing two runs on six hits and three walks in five innings of work, striking out four.

For Castlewood, Kolby Davis allowed 13 runs on four hits and four walks in 2.2 innings. Jarin Eidson tallied two RBIs on a hit and a walk while Logan McMillan added two hits in the loss.


Volga 7, Madison 5

DELL RAPIDS — Broden Teske’s complete game on the mound powered Volga over Madison in a Region 2B elimination game Wednesday.

Teske allowed five unearned runs on two hits and four walks in seven innings, fanning two batters in the win. Braden Danzeisen had two RBIs on two hits and two walks, Isaac Skovlund tallied three hits while Levi Loban drove in two runs on a hit in the win.

For Madison, Quincy Kurtz allowed three runs on two hits and a walk in 0.2 innings, striking out one to take the loss. JD Prorok collected an RBI on a hit and a walk while Tregg McGillivray added a hit in the loss as well.

Volga will face Dell Rapids in a rematch for the Region 2B championship Thursday.


Dakota Valley 13, Elk Point/Jefferson 4

VERMILLION — Grady Ramos tossed 10 strikeouts as Dakota Valley put away Elk Point/Jefferson in Region 3B action Wednesday.

Ramos allowed just four runs on 10 hits and a walk in six innings of work, striking out 10 in the win. Ramos also batted 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs as well. Jack Wiese tallied three hits, a walk and two RBIs, Sterling Schauff had two RBIs on one hit, Jackson Shoulders had three hits, Jake Pick recorded two hits while Vincent Hoffman tallied an RBI walk in the win.

For EPJ, Ethan Bovill allowed six runs on four hits in 1.2 innings, Jace Shatswell allowed six runs on four hits and a walk in two innings as well. Keaton Gale tallied two RBIs on two hits, Grayson Girard and Ashton Fairbanks each had two hits, Luke Swatek drove in a run on two hits while Shatswell added an RBI single in the loss as well.

DV will face Lennox in the Region 3B championship Thursday.


Lennox 9, Vermillion 4

VERMILLION — Lennox pounded out 12 hits as it eliminated Vermillion in Region 3B tournament action Wednesday.

Dayne Moeller led with two hits, a double, and three RBIs, Cole Spieler added two hits and an RBI, Mason Reischl drove in two rubs on one hit, Talen Eich recorded a double, two walks and an RBI, while Jaxon Bittner and Gabe Veurink each collected two hits in the win. Spieler nearly went the distance on the mound, allowing four runs on 10 hits and five walks in 6.2 innings, striking out six.

For Vermillion, Jack Moskowitz allowed nine runs on 10 hits and a walk in 3.1 innings. Moskotwitz and Connor Peterson each collected three hits while Matthew Roob, Corbin Heckens and Ryan Vitt each drove in a run on one hit in the loss.


Lennox 7, Elk Point/Jefferson 2

VERMILLION — Lennox pounded out 11 hits to eliminate defending Class B champion Elk Point/Jefferson from Region 3B action Wednesday.

Jaxon Bittner tallied three hits and an RBI, Gabe Veurink had two hits and an RBI, Cole Spieler and Jackson Anacker each drove in a run on one hit while Mason Reischl had two hits in the win. Anacker threw six innings to take the win on the mound, allowing two runs on three hits and five walks, striking out four.

For EPJ, Keaton Gale had two hits, a walk and an RBI in the loss. Ethan Bovill allowed five runs on eight hits and a walk in 4.1 innings, striking out two.

Lennox will face Dakota Valley for the Region 3B championship Thursday.
