Winner/Colome Pheasants 7, Dimock/Emery Raptors 2

MOUNT VERNON — Derek Graesser’s complete game on the mound powered Winner/Colome to an opening round win over Dimock/Emery in the District 5B tournament Thursday.

Graesser allowed two runs on eight hits and five walks in nine complete innings, striking out nine in the win. Graesser batted 3-for-4 with a double, two homers, a walk and three RBIs. Chandler Bakley had two hits, a double and an RBI while Aiden Barfuss collected two RBIs in the win.

For DE, Landon Waddell allowed one run on three walks without recording an out in his start to take the loss. Drew Kitchens, Jason Schmidt and Peyton Nash each tallied two hits in the loss, while Sam Pischke and Colton Plagmann each had an RBI in the loss.

Winner/Colome will face Platte on Sunday, July 27 at 5 p.m. in the district semifinals, while Dimock/Emery and Parkston faceoff at 6 p.m. July 29 in an elimination game.

 

Platte Killer Tomatoes 11, Parkston Mudcats 2

MOUNT VERNON —  Grant Doom recorded 20 strikeouts as Platte advanced in the District 5B tournament Thursday.

Doom allowed two runs on five hits and five walks in nine innings, striking out 20 in the win. Hunter Hewitt had two hits, including a grand slam in the seventh inning, Travis Gant added two RBIs on two hits and a walk, Hayden Kuiper and Preston Nedved each drove in a run on two hits, while Michael Buitenbos, Dawson Hoffman and Grayson Hanson each tallied a RBI on one hit in the win.

For Parkston, Brady Nolz allowed 11 runs on 11 hits and five walks in eight innings, striking out 11 in the loss. Max Scott hit a solo homer in the loss while Jeff Harris added two hits as well.

Platte will face Winner/Colome on Sunday, July 27 at 5 p.m. in the district semifinals, while Parkston and Dimock/Emery faceoff at 6 p.m. July 29 in an elimination game.

 

Larchwood (Iowa) Diamonds 21, Parker Ringnecks 0 (5 innings)

LENNOX — Larchwood pounded out 21 hits as the Diamonds earned a mercy rule win in District 7B tournament action Thursday.

Zach Van Beek drove in four runs on three hits and a walk, Cody Groskreutz and Keaton Grevengoed each drove in three runs on three hits, Chase Vander Feen added three RBIs on two hits and a walk, including a homer, Korey McKenney and Micah Linn each drove in two runs on two hits while Jacob Kindhart and Brent Ripperda combined for two RBIs on three combined hits in the win.

For Parker, Isaac Beeck allowed seven runs on seven hits and a walk in one inning. Zach Schrank was the lone hit of the game for the Ringnecks.


Lesterville Broncs 10, Crofton (Neb.) Bluejays 7

WYNOT — Alex Wagner tossed 13 strikeouts as Lesterville upended Crofton in South Central League District tournament action Thursday.

Wagner allowed seven runs on seven hits in eight innings, striking out 13 in the win. Tyler Edler and Derek Quame each had two RBIs on two hits, Tanner Skorepa had two RBIs on a hit and a walk, Ethan Wishon had an RBI on one hit while Hunter Martin drove in a run in the win as well.

For Crofton, Brayden Hegge allowed seven unearned runs on four hits and a walk in 2.1 innings to take the loss. Justin Potts drove in five runs on two doubles, Austin Gobel collected three hits and a walk while Tyler Koch had an RBI in the win as well.


Groton Locke Electric 9, Faulkton Hitmen 8

FAULKTON — Groton scored six runs in the ninth inning to stun Faulkton in Northern Plains League action Thursday.

Ty Sieber led the comeback effort with three hits and three RBIs, Austin Jones drove in two runs on a hit and a walk, Ben Althoff had an RBI on one hit, Spencer Locke collected an RBI walk while Dylan Frey had two hits, a double and an RBI in the win. Wyatt Locke allowed two runs on four hits and a walk in 0.2 innings to take the win on the mound.

For Faulkton, Gunner Brueggeman allowed five runs on five hits and two walks in two innings, striking out three. Layne Cotton tallied two hits, a triple and two RBIs, Beau Kirsch added an RBI on two hits, Blaze Herdman tallied three hits while Brueggeman added two hits and an RBI in the loss.


Tea Steam 9, Renner Monarchs 8

TEA — Tea stormed back from a three-run deficit to stun Renner in non-league amateur baseball action Thursday.

Sam Kampshoff drove in four runs on two hits, including a double and a homer, Michael Buchmann added two RBIs on two hits, Cameron Jensen drove in a run on two hits while Trey Heckenlaible added an RBI single in the win. Jensen took the win on the mound in two shutout innings, allowing one hit while striking out four.

For Renner, Cole Kraemer allowed eight runs on eight hits and a walk in six innings, striking out 10. Kraemer and Jeremiah Mauch each drove in two runs on two hits, Adam Durfee collected two RBIs on a double, while Ryan Hander netted two hits and an RBI in the win as well.


Sioux Falls Flying Squirrels 14, Baltic River Dawgs 0

BALTIC — Lucas Wilber and Kyle Gulbrandson combined for seven hits and seven RBIs as Sioux Falls blanked Baltic in Sioux Empire League action Thursday.

Wilber batted 3-for-6 with a double, walk and four RBIs, Gulbrandson added four hits, two walks and three RBIs, Connor Hurley had three RBIs on three hits, two doubles, Dylan Ades, Carter Brown and Jaden Holzer each tallied an RBI on a combined four hits and four walks in the win as well. Zach Dibble also netted two hits and two walks for the Squirrels.

For Baltic, Tyler Groenewold allowed six runs on eight hits and seven walks in five innings, striking out five. Ray Williams III tallied two hits in the loss for Baltic.
