Rapid City Post 22 5, Spearfish 2

RAPID CITY — A three-run inning separated Rapid City Post 22 from Spearfish, capturing a spot in the Class A state tournament Thursday.

Dawson Inhofer drove in a run on a hit and a walk in the win while Jace Morgan added an RBI walk. Aiden Roberts, Lars Kieffer, Wyatt Reeder, Dexter Steen and Carter Johnson each tallied a hit in the win as well. McCoy Rippentrop took the victory on the mound in two innings of work, allowing two runs on one hit and two walks, striking out two.

For Spearfish, Sean Sewell allowed five runs on five hits and five walks in five innings, striking out two. Jack Scharf tallied an RBI while Tucker Olson and Walker Viessman each had a hit in the loss.


Yankton 12, Sturgis 0 (6 innings)

YANKTON — Matthew Sheldon drove in six runs as Yankton punched its ticket to the Class A state tournament Thursday.

Sheldon batted 3-for-4 with two doubles and six RBIs, Evan Serck and Sam Gokie each had two hits while Gavin Johnson tallied an RBI on a hit and two walks in the win. Beck Ryken earned the win on the mound, allowing one hit and two walks in five shutout innings, striking out three.

For Sturgis, Brody Royer allowed seven runs on seven hits and three walks in 4.1 innings, striking out two. George Hamer had the only hit of the game in the loss.


Brandon Valley 5, Aberdeen 4

BRANDON — Bryton Stroh had two RBIs on two hits as Brandon Valley took game one of a three game series with Aberdeen Thursday.

Stroh batted 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs, Jack Blomgren added two RBIs on a hit and a walk, Ryland Carroll collected two hits while Cooper Ness had an RBI on a hit. Caleb Severin allowed four runs on six hits and a walk in 5.2 innings, striking out six in the win.

For Aberdeen, Cooper Eisenbeisz allowed five runs on nine hits and two walks in six innings of work. Karson Borge tallied three hits and an RBI, Grant Beyer added two hits, a double and an RBI, while Joe Cogley drove in a run in the loss.


Brandon Valley 4, Aberdeen 1

BRANDON — Brayden Knutson went the distance on the mound to power Brandon Valley to the Class A state tournament Thursday.

Knutson allowed just one run on two hits and two walks in seven innings, striking out five in the win. Knutson also batted 3-for-4 with a double, Ryland Carroll added two hits and an RBI, while Mason Veld drove in a run on a walk in the win.

For Aberdeen, Michael Dutenhoffer allowed three unearned runs on five hits and four walks in six innings of work, striking out eight. Karson Borge and Lance Siefken each had a hit in the loss.


Sioux Falls West 4, Renner 2

RENNER — Kyler Boyd’s complete game on the mound powered Sioux Falls West to a game one victory over Renner in a best of three series Thursday.

Boyd allowed just two runs on four hits and two walks in seven innings, striking out eight to take the win on the mound. Mason Payne added three hits, a double, and an RBI while Chris Logue collected an RBI on a hit and a walk in the win.

For Renner, Jackson Bjorkman allowed four runs on six hits and four walks in seven innings, striking out nine to take the loss. Jack Stukel and Brogan Moffit each drove in a run on one hit in the loss.


Renner 6, Sioux Falls West 5

RENNER — Brody Jacobson slammed the door with the tying run on third as Renner forced a game three with Sioux Falls West Thursday.

Jacobson tossed one inning of relief allowing just two hits, while Rylan Arbogast tossed the first 5.1 innings, allowing five runs on 10 hits and two walks, striking out four. Brogan Moffit had three hits, Sam Donohoe had three RBIs on two hits, Arbogast collected an RBi on two hits while Jackson Bjorkman collected an RBI on one hit in the win.

For SF, Caden Voss took the loss, allowing six runs on 11 hits, striking out nine batters. Jack Hille and Ian Stokes each tallied an RBI on two hits and a walk, including a homer from Stokes, Mason Payne collected two RBIs on two hits, Boston Bryant added three hits while Noah MacFarlane and Jackson Dunn each tallied two hits in the loss.

Renner and SFW will play tomorrow in a winner-take-all matchup to go to the Class A state tournament.


Rapid City Post 320 8, Sioux Falls East 7

SIOUX FALLS — Max Speed and Colton Mehlhaff combined for seven RBIs as Rapid City Post 320 took game one of a best of three series with Sioux Falls East Thursday.

Speed batted 2-for-4 with a double and a triple, driving four runs while Mehlhaff added three RBIs on two hits. Jhett Peterson collected two hits, a double and an RBI while Ethan Wilson added two hits in the win. Nolan Williamson took the victory on the mound, allowing seven runs on eight hits and four walks in 6.2 innings, striking out two. 

For SF, Colin Lunders allowed eight runs on seven hits and two walks in 3.2 innings, striking out two to take the loss. Lunders batted 3-for-3 with three RBIs, Dietrich Haan added two RBIs on a double while Brody Schafer and Ethan Olson each tallied a hit and a walk in the loss.


Rapid City Post 320 3, Sioux Falls East 0

SIOUX FALLS — Laadon Fatz’s complete game shutout pushed Rapid City Post 320 over Sioux Falls East, advancing to the Class A state tournament.

Fatz allowed just five hits and a walk in seven shutout innings, striking out one in the win. Jhett Peterson and Jonah Blake each tallied two hits and an RBI while Ayden Byrd and Colton Mehlhaff each had a hit in the win.

For SF, Dietrich Haan allowed three runs on five hits and four walks in five innings, striking out three. Ethan Olson had two hits while Colin Lunders, Haan and Caden Sporrer each tallied a hit in the loss.


Pierre 9, Huron 3

PIERRE — Pierre pounded out 16 hits to tie the best of three series against Huron Thursday.

Charlie Simpson had four hits and three RBIs, Cooper Terwilliger added two RBIs on three hits, one double, Dawson Getz had two hits, a double, and two RBIs, Ridge Leimbach netted two hits and an RBI, while Carter Schiefelbein and Grayson Hunsley each had two hits in the win. Leimbach earned the victory on the mound, allowing two runs on three hits and eight walks in six innings, striking out 11.

For Huron, Bubba Peterson took the loss, surrendering six runs on 11 hits and two walks in 5.2 innings, striking out four. Anderson Porisch had an RBI on two hits and two walks while Trace Wenz netted two hits and a walk in the loss. Peterson also tallied two walks and an RBI as well.


Pierre 7, Huron 0

PIERRE — JJ Bucholz tossed a complete game on the mound as Pierre secured a spot in the Class A state tournament Thursday.

Bucholz allowed two hits and three walks in a complete game shutout, striking out six in the win. Sutton Sonnenschein tallied three RBIs on two hits, one double, Carter Schiefelbein added two hits and two RBIs, Dawson Getz collected three hits, a double, and an RBI, while Grayson Hunsley added an RBI single in the win.

For Huron, Jack Peterson allowed five runs on six hits and three walks in four innings, striking out one.  Trace Wenz and Gabe Waldner each tallied a hit in the loss.


Harrisburg Gold 7, Brookings 2

HARRISBURG — Kason Syverson tossed five shutout innings as Harrisburg took game one of a best of three series with Brookings Thursday.

Syverson allowed just three walks in five shutout innings, striking out six to take the win on the mound. Bryson Esser and Michael Oakland each drove in two runs on one hit, including a double from Oakland, Ethan Beek had an RBI single while Rylan Boe drove in two runs in the win.

For Brookings, Tyson Antonen allowed five runs on two hits and a walk in 0.1 innings of his start to take the loss. Tre Christopherson tallied the only hit of the game in the loss for Brookings.


Harrisburg Gold 6, Brookings 1

HARRISBURG — Eli Kokenge had three RBIs as Harrisburg Gold punched its ticket to the Class A state tournament Thursday.

Kokenge tallied three RBIs on two hits, Noah Boschee and Ty Raymond each had an RBI on a double and a walk, while Griffen Schlapkohl had an RBI on two hits in the win. Darren Safranski allowed one run on three hits and three walks in six innings, striking out six in the win.

For Brookings, Breck Wilson allowed six runs on nine hits and four walks in 5.2 innings, striking out five. Cooper Schneider tallied two hits and a walk in the loss.
