Groton 6, Sisseton 2

SISSETON — Gavin Englund struck out eight batters as Groton captured the Region 1B championship Friday.

Englund allowed just two unearned runs on two hits and four walks in a complete game, striking out eight in the win. Carter Simon had three hits, a double and an RBI, Nick Morris tallied a two RBI double, while Englund and Alex Abeln each tallied an RBI on one hit in the win.

For Sisseton, Levi Nelson took the loss despite throwing two shutout innings, striking out three. Hughin Current drove in a run on one hit while LJ Crooks added an RBI in the loss.


Clark/Willow Lake 12, Lake/Norden Badger 11

CLARK — Tyson Huber stole home on a wild pitch to walk-off the Region 6B championship for Clark/Willow Lake Friday.

Huber finished the game with three RBIs on a homer and two walks, Josh Kannegieter added three RBIs on a hit and two walks as well while Collin Gaikowski drove in a trio of runs on two doubles in the win. Huber also took the win on the mound in 1.1 innings, allowing nine runs on five hits and four walks, striking out two.

For LNB, Turner Stevenson allowed two runs on six walks in 3.1 innings, striking out three in the losing effort. Rylan Thue had four RBIs on a double, Riggs Prouty added three RBIs on three hits, Ted Smith collected three hits and a walk, Aiden Abraham had two RBIs on a hit while Dawson Noem netted a walk and two RBIs in the loss.


Renner 5, Sioux Falls West 2

RENNER — Brody Jacobson pitched a complete game on the mound as Renner clinched the last spot in the Class A state tournament Friday.

Jacobson allowed just two unearned runs on four hits and five walks in seven innings, striking out three to take the win on the mound. Jackson Bjorkman drove in three runs on two hits, one double, for Renner, Jack Canfield added an RBI on two hits, while Jack Stukel had an RBI on a double in the win as well.

For SFW, Noah MacFarlane allowed four runs on nine hits in three innings to take the loss. Beckett Whitlock had two hits, two walks and an RBI while Chris Logue tallied an RBI in the loss.
