Dell Rapids PBR 16, Madison Dairy Queen Broncos 6

CANOVA — Riley Hoffman and Drew Sweeter drove in a combined eight runs during the District 4B tournament victory over Madison Saturday.

Hoffman batted 3-for-5 with two doubles and four RBIs, Sweeter collected two hits, a homer, a walk, and four RBIs, Matt Gillogly had two hits, a home run, and three RBIs, while Weston Hansen and Zach Puetz each drove in a run on a combined five hits, including three doubles by Hansen.

Sweeter earned the victory in five innings on the mound, allowing three runs on five hits and a walk, fanning three batters.

For Madison, Aspen Dahl took the loss in five innings, surrendering eight runs on nine hits and two walks, striking out nine batters.

Matt Burpee and Ty Jorgenson each hit solo homers in the loss, Dawson Bakker had three hits, two doubles, and an RBI, Logan Albee had two hits and an RBI, while Greg Biagi connected on two hits for Madison.


Wessington Springs Owls 5, Colome Chaos 4

WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Tyson Lien hit two homers during a District 3B tournament victory Saturday.

Lien drove in three runs on two homers, Cade Mohling batted 4-for-5 with an RBI, while Clay Olinger, Dalton Mogck, and Dylan Schimke each had hits in the win.

Mason Schelske took the victory on the mound in 1.2 shutout innings of relief, allowing two hits and a walk while tossing one strikeout.

For Colome, Carter Brickman took the loss in eight innings, allowing five runs on eight hits while striking out nine.

Brickman, Cameron Biggins, and Ethan Vobr each had two hits, including a double by Biggins and an RBI by Vobr. Jake Luse, Joey Cole, and Riley Orel each had one hit, including a double by Cole and an RBI by Orel.


Clark Traders 1, Elkton Snappers 0

MILBANK — Wesley Jones tossed 11 strikeouts in a District 1B tournament victory over Elkton Saturday.

Jones went the distance on the mound for Clark, allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out 11 batters.

Peyton Garbers drove in the lone run on one hit and one walk, while Jones, Brent Griffith, and Grayson Florey each had hits in the win, including a triple by Florey.

For Elkton, Eliezer Burgos tossed eight innings, allowing one run on five hits and four walks, striking out eight batters.

Aiden Erickson hit a double, while Dylan Gillispie and Jordan Beck each had hits in the loss.


Burke Bombers 7, Plankinton F&M Bankers 4

WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Burke pounded 11 hits in a District 3B tournament victory over Plankinton Saturday.

Sawyer Tietgen batted 4-for-4 with a walk, Aaron Vomacka had two hits, including a solo homer, Coy Determan batted 2-for-5 with an RBI, while Ben Witt, Brogan Glover, and Christian Schweigert each drove in a run on one hit, including doubles by Witt and Glover.

Glover took the victory on the mound in a complete game, throwing 170-pitches, surrendering four runs on eight hits and six walks, striking out nine batters along the way.

For Plankinton, Thomas Stange took the loss allowing seven runs on 11 hits and two walks in nine innings, striking out 11 batters.

Gavin Tobin drove in a run on three hits, including a double, Kane Knudson had an RBI-single, while Blaine Bohr, Hunter Pranger, Cain Tobin, and Drew Gerlach each had hits in the loss.


Salem Cubs 8, Hartford/Humboldt Gamecocks 4

CANOVA — Salem pounded 12 hits in an opening round District 4B tournament victory over Hartford/Humboldt Saturday.

Jacob Vonberge had three hits, a walk, and an RBI, Bobby Koepsell, Kyle Tuschen, and Tyler Earls each had two hits combining for two RBIs, including doubles by Koepsell and Earls. Hakeem Yatim drove in two runs on a homer and a walk, while Jon Forster had two RBIs on a hit as well.

Luke Loudenburg earned the victory in five innings on the mound, allowing three runs on two hits and a walk, striking out six batters.

Cole Barthel surrendered seven runs on seven hits and three walks in six innings for HH, striking out six batters.

Broc Haldeman, Ryan Healy, and Chad Morrison each drove in a run, while Cam Quigley tallied two hits in the loss.


Lake Norden Lakers 7, Ramona Express 2

MILBANK — Kevin Krumm fanned 14 batters in a win over Ramona in the opening round of the District 1B tournament Saturday.

Krumm went all nine innings for Lake Norden, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks, striking out 14 batters.

Jesse VanOverbeke batted 3-for-5 with an RBI, Cameron Thue batted 3-for-4 with a walk, triple, and an RBI, Josh Cleveland tallied three hits, Jackson Noem drove in two runs on a homer, while Matt Stevenson had two RBIs on one hit in the win.

For Ramona, Ken Longman took the loss in eight innings, allowing seven runs on 11 hits and four walks, striking out four batters.

Casey Renaas drove in two runs on two hits, including a homer, while Brady Miller and Connor Libis each had hits.


Castlewood Ravens 13, Volga Cormorants 3 (7 innings)

MILBANK — Kellan Benck’s complete game on the mound lifted Castlewood to a Region 1B tournament victory Saturday.

Benck gave up just three runs on five hits and two walks, striking out three in seven innings to earn the victory. Benck also drove in three runs on three hits in the win.

Kegan Tvedt batted 1-for-3 with a grand slam and a hit-by-pitch, scoring five runs. Lucas Ching, Booker Schooley, Alex Gauer, and Kyler Tvedt each had two hits, combining for five walks and two RBIs, including a double by Gauer, while Nate Phinney drove in a run on a walk in the win.

For Volga, Connor Gross took the loss allowing eight runs on seven hits and seven walks in five innings pitched.

Noah Puetz drove in a run on a double, while Gross, Randy Santema, Paul Santema, and Dylan Vosburg each tallied hits in the loss.


Canova Gang 18, Flandreau Cardinals 5 (7 innings)

CANOVA — Jared Miller drove in six runs during the opening round of the District 4B amateur tournament Saturday.

Miller batted 3-for-4 with a walk, double, and homer driving in six total runs, Garrett Gassman batted 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBIs, Justin Miller batted 2-for-2 with two walks, a homer, and two RBIs, Jason Miller drove in three runs on a single, Riley Genzlinger batted 3-for-5 with an RBI.

Trey Krier earned the victory on the mound allowing five runs on eight hits and a walk in six innings, striking out five batters.

For Flandreau, JaColby Anderson took the loss allowing seven runs on seven hits and a walk in three innings, striking out four.

Jacob Patterson, Bret Severtson, and Keith Cutler each had two hits, including a double by Patterson and an RBI by Cutler, Anderson hit a two-run home run, while Austin Koenig drove in a run on one hit in the loss.


Four Corners 16, Winner Demons 1 (5 innings)

WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Five batters drove in two runs apiece as Four Corners topped Winner in the opening round of the District 3B tournament Saturday.

Sam Hand, Garrett Stout, Andrew McCloud, Noah Hainy, and Brad Hand each had two RBIs on a combined nine hits and five walks, including doubles by McCloud and Hainy. River Iverson tallied a hit and two walks in the win as well.

Austin Hand earned the victory on the mound, allowing one run on three hits and five walks in five innings.

For Winner, Ethan Bartels and Justin Hausmann combined for the loss, allowing 16 runs on 10 hits and eight walks, striking out five batters.

Pierce Nelson drove in a run on one hit, while Shane Phillips and Hausmann each had hits in the loss.
