Corsica Horned Frogs 3, Parkston Mudcats 2

PARKSTON — Caleb Crist tossed a complete game on the mound as Corsica topped Parkston in District 5B tournament action Tuesday.

Crist allowed two runs on six hits and three walks, striking out six in nine innings to take the victory on the mound.

Nathan Blom batted 3-for-4 with an RBI, Blake Moke had two hits and an RBI, Kiefer Johnson and Aaron Groeneweg each had one hit and one RBI, Crist collected two hits, while Ryan Buck and Brendan Wentland each had doubles in the win.

For Parkston, Jake Weber took the loss allowing four runs on 11 hits in eight innings, striking out four batters.

Will Jodozi batted 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs, while Jeff Harris, Matt Malloy, Jake Goble, and Kaleb Weber each had hits in the loss.

Corsica will play Dimock/Emery Wednesday at 8 p.m. for a spot in the state tournament, while the Parkston Mudcats advance to the elimination bracket, facing off against the Parkston Devil Rays on Thursday at 8 p.m.


Dell Rapids Mudcats 4, Dell Rapids PBR 3 (12 innings)

CANOVA — The Dell Rapids Mudcats advanced to the District 4B championship after walking it off over Dell Rapids PBR Tuesday.

John Spaeth earned the victory on the mound for the Mudcats, tossing two shutout relief innings, giving up one hit and one walk. Dalton Lehnen started on the mound for the first 10 innings, giving up three runs on seven hits and two walks, striking out 15.

Dalton Allen batted 2-for-4 with a walk, homer, and two RBIs, Ty Hoglund had a hit, two walks, and an RBI, Kole Zimmerman and Josh Roeman each had two hits, while Spaeth drove in the winning run in the victory.

For Dell Rapids PBR, Tanner Solberg took the loss in his relief outing, allowing one run on one hit and one walk in 0.1 innings.

Nate Mckee and Brayden Pankonen each had two hits, including a double by McKee. Conner Spindler drove in a run, while Drew Sweeter, Zach Puetz, and Chris Kropuenske each tallied hits in the loss.

The Dell Rapids Mudcats will face Canova in the District 4B championship Saturday at 5:30 p.m., while Dell Rapids PBR moves to face the Flandreau Cardinals vs Hartford/Humboldt Gamecocks loser on Friday at 8 p.m.


Tabor Bluebirds 5, Freeman Blacksox 0

LESTERVILLE — Jared Miller tossed 15 strikeouts as Tabor advanced to the District 6B championship Tuesday.

Miller tossed eight shutout innings for Tabor, allowing just three hits and a walk while striking out 15 to earn the victory on the mound.

Chris Sutera and Sam Caba each had three hits and an RBI, including two doubles by Sutera and a solo homer by Caba, Landon Schmidt drove in a run o two hits, Brady Bierma had two hits, while Riley Rothschadl and Chase Kortan each had hits in the win.

For Freeman, Trey Christensen took the loss allowing five runs on 12 hits and two walks in eight innings.

Jake Weier, Jackson Feigen, and Evan Scharberg each tallied hits in the loss.

 

Tabor will face the Lesterville Broncs in the District 6B championship on Saturday at 7 p.m., while Freeman will face Menno on Thursday at 8 p.m. for a spot in the state tournament.


Wessington Springs Owls 11, Chamberlain Mallards 0 (7 innings)

CHAMBERLAIN — Parker DeJean tossed a complete game shutout as Wessington Springs qualified for the state tournament Tuesday.

DeJean allowed just four hits and a walk in seven innings, striking out 10 batters to earn the victory.

Dylan Schimke drove in two runs on three hits, including a double, Landon Cleveland had two hits, a double, and two RBIs, Clay Olinger drove in two runs, Cade Mohling had two hits and two RBIs, Tyson Lien drove in a run on two hits, while Trevor Kenobbie and Blake Larson tallied a hit and an RBI in the win.

For Chamberlain, Braydon Kreofsky took the loss, surrendering four runs on seven hits and a walk in four innings.

Ian Anderson, Evan Steiner, and Rayden Haak each tallied hits in the loss.

Wessington Springs qualified for the state tournament with the win, while Chamberlain will face the Plankinton F&M Bankers in a "last chance" game Thursday at 7:30 p.m. for a spot in the state tournament.


Clark Traders 11, Volga Cormorants 7

MILBANK — Rhett Florey and Andrew Magedanz each homered as Clark defeated Volga in District 1B tournament action Tuesday.

Florey drove in two runs on a homer, Magedanz hit a solo homer, John Koenig drove in two runs on a walk and two hits, Brent Griffith drove in a run on a single, Zach Winter had two walks and and a hit-by-pitch scoring a run, while Grayson Florey, Braedon Zaug, and Jess Karber each had hits in the win.

Jeffrey Paulson took the victory pitching 5.1 innings, giving up six runs on six hits and five walks while tossing two strikeouts.

For Volga, Dylan Vosburg took the loss in just two innings pitched, giving up nine runs on six hits and four walks.

Zane Hiller drove in three runs on a hit and a walk, Randy Santema and Connor Gross each had RBI-singles, while Bayley Colemer and Carson Christopherson each tallied two hits in the loss.

Clark advances to the "last chance" game against Elkton on Friday at 8 p.m. for the final spot in the state tournament. Volga was eliminated from the District 1B tournament with the loss.


Lesterville Broncs 8, Crofton Blue Jays (Neb.) 3

LESTERVILLE — Tanner Van Driel drove in three runs on two hits as Lesterville advanced to the District 6B championship Tuesday.

Van Driel batted 2-for-5 with a double, homer, and three RBIs, Michael Drotzmann and Ethan Wishon each had RBIs on one hit, including a solo homer by Wishon, Andy Dollerschell had three hits, a double, and an RBI, Cam Shiltz drove in two runs on two hits, while Tyler Edler, Derek Quame, and Garret Damico each had hits in the win.

Alex Wagner earned the victory on the mound, allowing one run on three hits in five innings.

For Crofton, James Kaiser took the loss allowing six runs on eight hits in four innings.

Zach Hegge had three hits and an RBI, Seth Weibelhaus drove in a run on two hits, Jared Weibelhaus had a solo home run, while Kaiser tallied a double in the loss.

Lesterville will face Tabor in the District 6B championship Saturday at 7 p.m., while Crofton moves to play Wynot, Nebraska for a trip to the state tournament on Thursday at 6 p.m.

 

Canova Gang 15, Salem Cubs 0 (5 innings)

CANOVA — Canova collected nine hits and eight walks as it defeated Salem Tuesday, advancing to the District 4B championship.

Cole Gassman batted 2-for-2 with a walk and four RBIs, Jared Miller drove in two runs on two walks and a homer, Justin Miller batted 1-for-3 with a double, walk, and an RBI, Jason Miller cracked two doubles and an RBI, Riley Genzlinger drove in three runs on two hits, including a double and a homer, while Calab Carmichael drove in a run on a walk in the win.

Kendall Gassman earned the victory on the mound tossing five shutout innings, allowing just two hits and a hit batter while striking out six.

For Salem, Braedon Kerkhove took the loss allowing nine runs on seven hits and four walks in two innings, striking out two.

Jon Forster and Cole Cheeseman each tallied hits in the loss for the Cubs.

Canova advances to face the Dell Rapids Mudcats Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in the District 4B championship, while Salem will face the Colman vs Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks loser on Friday at 6 p.m.
