Rapid City Post 22 11, Brandon Valley 9

WATERTOWN — Rapid City held off a late rally to hang on and avoid elimination during Wednesday’s state tournament action.

Rowan Fredrickson allowed four runs on seven hits and five walks in five innings of work, striking out seven in the win. Wyatt Reeder drove in two runs on two hits and a walk, including a homer, Lars Kieffer and Josh Elder each had two RBIs on a hit and a walk, including a double from Kieffer, Blayn Hunt added two hits and an RBI while Aiden Roberts, Kain McLeod and Jace Morgan each drove in a run on one hit in the win.

For Brandon Valley, Caleb Severin allowed five runs on four hits and a walk in 2.1 innings in the loss. Ryland Carroll drove in a run on two hits and a walk, Jack Blomgren added three hits and a walk, Christopher Joseph collected two RBIs and a walk, while Ryder Mueller, Max Peters and Will VanLeur each drove in a run on one hit in the loss.


Yankton 3, Pierre 2 (9 innings)

WATERTOWN — Beck Ryken’s walk-off RBI single lifts Yankton over Pierre during Wednesday’s elimination game.

Ryken finished the game batting 2-for-3 with a walk, double, driving in all three runs in the win. Sam Gokie added two hits while Easton Feser, Owen Wishon and Mark Kathol each tallied a hit in the win. Ryken also allowed two runs on five hits in 8.2 innings on the mound, striking out four in the win.

For Pierre, Will Danburg took the loss allowing one run on four hits and three walks in 3.1 innings. Dawson Getz drove in a run on one hit, Porter Hunsley had two hits while Cooper Terwilliger hit a triple in the loss.


Rapid City Post 320 6, Renner Royals 0

WATERTOWN — Nolan Williamson tossed eight strikeouts as Rapid City Post 320 blanked Renner in Wednesday’s state tournament action.

Williamson allowed three hits and three walks in seven shutout innings, striking out eight to take the win on the mound. Jhett Peterson had two hits, a double, and an RBI, Max Speed and Jonah Blake each drove in a run on one hit, Colton Mehlhaff added an RBI while Tegan Sayles recorded two hits in the win.

For Renner, Rylan Arbogast took the loss, surrendering six runs on eight hits and a walk in 6.1 innings, striking out five in the loss. Jackson Bjorkman, Owen Lechtenberg and Zach Sprenkle each collected one hit in the loss.


Harrisburg Gold 6, Watertown 3

WATERTOWN — Eli Kokenge drove in three runs and earned the save as Harrisburg Gold edged Watertown in Wednesday’s Class A Legion baseball tournament. 

Kokenge finished 4-for-4, hitting a double and a triple. He allowed two walks, zero hits, zero runs and struck out two batters in 1.1 relief innings. Darren Safranski earned the win, striking out seven batters, allowing three hits, two walks and zero earned runs in 5.2 innings. 

Ethan Beek added three hits, while Noah Boschee had two hits and drove in two runs. Ty Raymond and Griffen Schlapkohl had two hits apiece. Schlapkohl drove in a run. Michael Oakland had a hit.

For Watertown, Nathan Briggs, Treyton Himmerich and Cole Hansen had hits. Carter Buisker and Hansen drove in runs. Talan Jurgens took the loss, allowing 12 hits, six earned runs, three walks and struck out five batters in five innings.
