Platte 3, Winner/Colome 2 (11 innings) 

PLATTE — Hayden Kuiper’s walk-off single in the 11th inning propelled Platte to a Sunshine League amateur baseball win over Winner/Colome on Thursday.

Sheldon Gant, who scored the game-winning run, led off the 11th with a double to center field. Gant and Grant Doom had two hits apiece for Platte, with Doom hitting a solo home run. Hunter Hewitt added a hit. Doom earned the win after nine strikeouts, three hits allowed, zero runs allowed and four walks in 4.1 relief innings. 

For Winner/Colome, Derek Graesser, Austin Richey and Austin Calhoon each had two hits. Drew DeMers, Chandler Bakley and Dillon Lambley each had hits. DeMers and Richey drove in runs. J.J. Farner took the loss after allowing two hits, one earned run, one walk and zero strikeouts in 1.1 relief innings. Graesser started and lasted nine innings, allowing four hits, two earned runs, three walks and struck out nine batters.

Mount Vernon 17, Corsica-Stickney 1 (6 innings) 

MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon erupted for five home runs en route to a Sunshine League amateur baseball win on Thursday.

Brady Albrecht finished 4 of 5 and smacked two home runs. Koby Larson, Chase Hetland and Briggs Havlik each hammered homers. Hetland logged four hits and Luke Tiesler added two hits. 


Alexandria 7, Dimock-Emery 1

ALEXANDRIA — Alexandria racked up 15 hits and Jed Schmidt struck out 14 batters en route to a Sunshine League amateur baseball win on Thursday.

Schmidt scattered seven hits, allowed one earned run and walked two batters in his complete-game performance. 

Offensively, Erik DeJong and Jerrod Zens had three hits and an RBI apiece. Peyton Smith had two hits and drove in four runs, including a two-run homer. Tyson Gau added two hits. Cole Wenande, Jordan Gau, Michael Schoettmer, Reid Smith and Jacob Giles each had hits. 

For Dimock-Emery, Peyton Nash had two hits and drove in a run. Drew Kitchens, Jason Schmidt, Phil Johnson, Sam Pischke and Colton Plagmann each had hits. Schmidt took the loss after allowing 14 hits, seven runs (six earned), two walks and struck out three batters in his seven-inning start. 


Parkston Mudcats 11, Parkston Devil Rays 7

PARKSTON — Matt Malloy had three hits to pace Parkston Mudcats to a win over the Parkston Devil Rays in Sunshine League amateur baseball action on Thursday.

Malloy logged a single, a double and a triple, while driving in three runs. Dan Bonte added two hits and an RBI. Jeff Harris and Cole Knippling added hits for the Mudcats. Jake Weber earned the win after four strikeouts, four hits allowed, two earned runs allowed and one walk in his four-inning start. 

For the Devil Rays, Jonah Schmidt finished 3 of 5 and drove in one run. Jay Storm added two hits and an RBI. Seth Muth, Brayden Jervik, Landon Sudbeck and Logan Heidinger each had hits. Sudbeck drove in two runs. Storm took the loss after allowing four hits, seven earned runs, seven walks and struck out three batters in his two-inning start. 


Colome 3, Wessington Springs 0

WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Joey Cole threw a three-hit shutout as Colome picked up a Pony Hills League amateur baseball win on Thursday.

Cole struck out 10 batters and issued three walks on 128 pitches. Cole added two hits at the plate. 

Offensively, Carter Brickman had three hits, while Riley Orel had two hits. Shea Connot, Hunter Van Nieuwenhuyse, Aaron Sundquist and Cameron Biggins each had hits. Ethan Vobr, Van Nieuwenhuyse and Sundquist each drove in runs. 

For Wessington Springs, Tyson Lien, Parker DeJean and Mason Schelske had hits. DeJean took the loss after allowing 10 hits, three earned runs, two walks and striking out seven batters in his six-inning start. 


Kimball/White Lake 8, Plankinton 1

KIMBALL — Ten players accounted for 13 hits as Kimball/White Lake picked up a Pony Hills League amateur baseball win on Thursday. 

Caden Lenz led the Nationals with three hits and an RBI. Dylanger Pierson logged two hits and two RBI. Zak Wallner, Eathan Gaulke, Jaxon Christensen, Brian Zeman, Blake Leiferman, Wes Kroupa and Dylan Konechne each had hits. Gaulke and Pierson drove in two runs apiece. Wallner earned the win after 12 strikeouts and three hits allowed in six relief innings. 

For Plankinton, Griffin Tobin, Cain Tobin and Hunter Pranger each had two hits. Blaine Bohr and Ryland DeVries each had hits. Devin Mehlhaff took the loss after allowing seven hits, four earned runs, two walks and struck out four batters in his five-inning start. 


Freeman 5, Menno 2

MENNO — Phil Madsen had three hits and Bailey Sage homered as Freeman picked up a South Central League win over Menno on Thursday.

Madsen finished 3 of 4 at the plate, while Sage smacked a two-run homer in the eighth inning. Blake Schroedermeier added two hits. Owen Feser had one hit and an RBI. Trey Christensen earned the win after six strikeouts, six hits allowed, one earned run allowed and three walks in his 8.1-inning start. 

For Menno, Jamison Kleinsasser and Preston Gall had two hits apiece. Dylan Lehr and Macon Oplinger each had hits. Oplinger took the loss after allowing seven hits, four earned runs, five walks and struck out six batters in nine innings.
