Dec. 20 Boys Lakota Nation Invitational Roundup - Marty outlasts Crazy Horse, wins He Sapa bracket title

Marty 57, Crazy Horse 53

RAPID CITY — Marty edged Crazy Horse to win the boys He Sapa boys bracket at Saturday’s Lakota Nation Invitational. 

Marty’s Steven Peters III finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Tyson Cournoyer recorded 11 points, six rebounds and three 3-pointers. Tayshaun Brewer added nine points and Leon Heart scored eight points. Dayson Arpan added six points. 

For Crazy Horse, Terrell Ashley finished with 27 points and nine rebounds. Ayden Janis-Dull Knife had 13 points and three rebounds. Truman Randall totaled 10 points. 


Pine Ridge 70, Wall 67

RAPID CITY — Pine Ridge rallied for a third-place win in the Oceti Sakowin bracket at the Lakota Nation Invitational in boys basketball action Saturday.

Marvin Richard III recorded 34 points, five rebounds and five steals. Cloudon Apple recorded 14 points, six rebounds and three steals. Caleb Black Feather had 13 points and seven rebounds. Donnie Ghostdog had five points. 

For Wall, Teelan Kjerstad finished with 33 points, six rebounds and five 3-pointers. Emmet Dinger had 12 points, four rebounds and four steals. Trevor Schulz posted nine points and seven rebounds. Dawson Handcock scored eight points and grabbed five rebounds. 


Rapid City Christian 65, Little Wound 36

RAPID CITY — Three players scored in double figures to power Rapid City Christian to a boys basketball win at Saturday’s Lakota Nation Invitational. 

RCC’s Peyton Glenn finished with 17 points and eight rebounds. Hudson Ogle and Henry Koppmann totaled 14 points apiece. Sam Lushbough had seven points.

For Little Wound, Riley Casey finished with 15 points and six rebounds. Tanner High Horse had six points and three rebounds. 


Dupree 61, Todd County 51

RAPID CITY — Three players scored in double figures to power Dupree to a Lakota Nation Invitational boys basketball win on Saturday.

Dupree’s Spencer Olsen and Jayden Marshall scored 12 points apiece. Marshall grabbed eight boards. Traden Meeks added 10 points. Ricco Swallow and Cruz Birkeland had eight points apiece. Birkeland had nine boards. Dayson Kennedy tallied six points and five rebounds. Ayden Uses Knife totaled five points and nine rebounds. 

For Todd County, Kendrik Easter recorded 17 points and seven rebounds. Oniya Whirlwind Soldier finished with 11 points and three rebounds. Rueben Iron Horse totaled nine points and 10 boards. 


Lower Brule 51, McLaughlin 49 

RAPID CITY — Kristian Antelope and Bradley LaForge combined to score 31 points to power Lower Brule to a Lakota Nation Invitational boys basketball win on Saturday.

Antelope finished with 19 points and eight rebounds. LaForge added 12 points and three rebounds. Nicholas Flute totaled nine points, five steals, four rebounds and three 3-pointers. 

For McLaughlin, Laity Brown Otter finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Talan Brown Otter and Javon Chasing Hawk recorded eight points apiece. John Eagle Jr., scored seven points and six rebounds. 


Omaha Nation 70, White River 50 

RAPID CITY — Four players scored in double figures to power Omaha Nation to a boys basketball win at Saturday’s Lakota Nation Invitational.

Dason Romo led the way with 27 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Akesha Starlin finished with 16 points and seven rebounds. Kane Sheridan scored 16 points and Franklin Lasley finished with 10 points. 

For White River, Bryson One Star totaled 16 points and seven rebounds. Zayson Whipple recorded 14 points, three rebounds and three 3-pointers. Maddox Marshall scored eight points, while Jaizon Krogman and Colton Waln had five points apiece. 


Custer 55, St. Francis 45 (OT)

RAPID CITY — Brady Virtue and Regan Sorenson combined to score 38 points to power Custer to a Lakota Nation Invitational boys basketball win on Saturday. 

Virtue finished with 25 points and eight rebounds. Sorenson added 13 points and six rebounds. Chaydon McPhee posted seven points and eight rebounds. 

For St. Francis, Roger Roether III finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Jeremony Donner Jr., had 11 points. Jordan Larvie added nine points and four rebounds. 


Lakota Tech 63, Crow Creek 60

RAPID CITY — Three players scored in double figures to power Lakota Tech for a boys basketball win at Saturday’s Lakota Nation Invitational. 

Rylan Cuny finished with 24 points, four rebounds and three steals. Jack Iron Cloud totaled 17 points. Miles Young had 12 points and five rebounds. 

For Crow Creek, Jerome Big Eagle totaled 18 points and six rebounds. Ashton Comes Flying added 18 points and four rebounds. 

 

Wakpala 35, Tiospaye Topa 34

RAPID CITY — Lawrence Gooden’s double-double powered Wakpala to a Lakota Nation Invitational boys basketball win on Saturday.

Gooden finished with 23 points and 21 rebounds. Tavaughn Steele totaled 10 points and seven rebounds. 

For Crazy Horse, Jacoby Rousseau finished with 13 points and four rebounds. Laken Traversie had 12 points, three rebounds and three 3-pointers. Richard Smith scored five points. 


Tiospa Zina 73, Takini 21

RAPID CITY — Three players scored in double figures to power Tiospa Zina to a Lakota Nation Invitational boys basketball win on Saturday.

TZ’s Isaac Rodlund posted 16 points. Jeffery Heminger Jr., scored 15 points and seven rebounds. Malaki Fast Horse added 11 points and seven rebounds. Devon Bluehorse and Aiden Carrillo scored nine points. 

For Takini, Xavier Condon scored 12 points. 


Santee 50, Oelrichs 38

RAPID CITY — Ronald Good Teacher and Mason LaPointe combined for 45 points to power Santee to a Lakota Nation Invitational boys basketball win on Saturday.

Good Teacher finished with 34 points and nine steals. Staab added 11 points and 24 rebounds. 

For Oelrichs, Jess Her Many Horses totaled 15 points, nine rebounds and four steals. Kaeton Bear Runner had 11 points, four rebounds and three 3-pointers.
