June 14 Amateur Baseball Roundup - Canova clips Mount Vernon at Blarney’s Baseball Classic

Canova Gang 9, Mount Vernon Mustangs 6 (7 innings)

MITCHELL — Canova flipped a 6-2 deficit into a three-run amateur baseball victory at Saturday’s Blarney’s Baseball Classic at Cadwell Park.

The Gang scored four runs in the sixth inning and three runs in the seven to key the win. Game MVP Jackson Remmers drove in three runs, while Jack Neises knocked in two runs on two hits. Jared Miller had two hits. Remmers struck out one batter, allowed two hits and gave up zero runs in two innings. 

For Mount Vernon, Austin Graves and Eric Giblin had hits. 


Platte Killer Tomatoes 9, Wynot (Neb.) Expos 4 (7 innings)

MITCHELL — Grant Doom and Preston Nedved each drove in two runs as Platte defeated Wynot, Nebraska, at Saturday’s Blarney’s Baseball Classic at Cadwell Park.

Doom, who was named game MVP, finished 2-for-4 at the plate. Michael Buitenbos and Dawson Hoffman had two hits apiece. Doom struck out three hits, allowed two hits, one earned run and one walk through two innings. Travis Gant struck out six batters, allowed four hits, two earned runs and two walks in 4.1 innings. Richard Sternberg struck out two batters, allowed one hit, zero runs and one walk through 0.2 innings.

For Wynot, Nebraska, Devin Lammers finished with two hits. Lammers also struck out one batter, allowed nine hits, four earned runs and four walks in 4.1 innings. 


Kimball/White Lake Nationals 12, Parkston Devil Rays 2 (6 innings)  

MITCHELL — Dylan Konechne and Keaton Christensen drove in four runs apiece as Kimball/White Lake defeated the Parkston Devil Rays at Saturday’s Blarney’s Baseball Classic at Cadwell Park.

Konechne finished 2-for-3, while Christensen went 2-for-4 at the plate. Konechne was named the game MVP. Seth Kirsch also had two hits, while Caden Lenz drove in two runs. Lenz struck out three batters, allowed six hits, two earned runs and walked three batters in six innings.

For the Devil Rays, Caden Donahue finished with two hits and drove in a run. Landen Soulek struck out two batters, allowed six hits, four earned runs and walked four batters in 3.1 innings. 


Alexandria  Angels 17, Wynot (Neb.) Expos 4 (5 innings) 

MITCHELL — Nine Alexandria players combined for 16 hits en route to an amateur baseball win at Saturday’s Blarney’s Baseball Classic at Cadwell Park.

Game MVP Jerrod Zens finished with two hits and smacked a three-run homer. Cole Wenande and Jordan Gau finished with three hits. Gau drove in five runs, while Wenande knocked in a run. Tyson Gau added two hits and three RBIs. Jackson Jarding had two hits and drove in four runs. Peyton Smith, AJ Wilber, Landon Ruesink and Jacob Svihovec each had hits. Wilber drove in a run. Giles struck out two batters, allowed five hits, two earned runs and walked one batter in 3.2 innings for the win. 

For Wynot, Landon Wieseler and Jaelen Wieseler each had two hits. Jude Krie allowed four hits, seven earned runs, four walks and struck out zero batters in the 1.1-inning start for the loss. 


Sioux Falls Brewers 17, Mitchell Aces 0 (4 innings) 

MITCHELL — The Sioux Falls Brewers racked up 12 hits en route to an amateur baseball win over the Mitchell Aces at Saturday’s Blarney’s Baseball Classic at Cadwell Park.

Trey Malone had two hits and drove in five runs for the Brewers. Cory Schilling had two hits and knocked in three runs. Game MVP Braxton Wilhelm, Jacob Glovich and Carter Gronseth drove in two runs apiece. Gronseth struck out seven batters, allowed four hits, zero runs and one walk through four innings.

For the Aces, Lincoln Bates, Michael Sadler, Mason Herman and Gavin Jones each had hits. Bates took the loss, after allowing eight hits, nine earned runs, six walks and struck out three batters in three innings.


Elkton Snappers 13, Volga Cormorants 3 (7 innings)

ELKTON — Aidan Stewart struck out 11 batters in Elkton’s Eastern Dakota League win over Volga Saturday.

Stewart allowed just three runs on four hits and three walks in four innings pitched, fanning 11 batters to earn the victory on the mound. Stewart also added two hits, a double, and three RBIs at the plate. Charles Harming drove in three runs on a double, Owen Cass had a double, walk and two RBIs, while Dylan Kuehl tallied one hit and one RBI in the win.

For Volga, Connor Gross took the loss, surrendering seven runs on seven hits and five walks in 3.2 innings. Gross tallied two hits and an RBI in the loss as well.

 

Dimock/Emery Raptors 4, Wessington Springs Owls 1 (7 innings)

MITCHELL — A three-run fifth inning powered Dimock/Emery past Wessington Springs to close out the Blarney’s Baseball Classic Saturday.

Bryce Smart drove in a run on one hit, Brad Bartscher tallied an RBI on a walk, while Drew Kitchens, Sam Pischke and Landon Waddell each tallied hits in the win. Brayden Kreofsky got the start for the Raptors giving up just one unearned run while allowing five hits and a walk through five innings, fanning eight batters. Waddell closed the final two innings for DE, striking out three while not allowing a baserunner.

For WS, Mason Schelske took the loss allowing four runs on four hits and seven walks in four innings, striking out seven batters. Camden Jost and Lucas VanEngelenburg each tallied two hits while T Kenobbie added an RBI double in the loss.
