Parkston Mudcats 3, Mount Vernon Mustangs 0 (10 innings) 

PARKSTON — Jake Goble smacked a three-run walk-off homer to lift the Parkston Mudcats to a 10 inning Sunshine League amateur baseball win on Sunday.

Goble finished 2-for-5 and Luke Bormann, who led off the 10th inning with a base hit, also had two hits. Matt Malloy and Will Jodozi added hits. Jake Weber struck out seven batters, allowed one hit, zero runs and zero walks in his eight-inning start. Tate Kogel earned the win after striking out three batters, allowing one hit, one walk and zero runs in two relief innings. 

For Mount Vernon, Daniel Laufmann and Taite Klumb each had hits. Bradley Dean took the loss, allowing six hits, three earned runs, five walks and striking out seven batters in 9.1 innings. 


Winner/Colome Pheasants 14, Corsica-Stickney Horned Frogs 2 (7 innings) 

WINNER — Winner/Colome’s offense produced another Sunshine League amateur baseball win on Sunday. The Pheasants pounded out 13 hits, including four extra-base hits and one homer. 

Aiden Barfuss finished 2-for-4 and drove in four runs, including a two-run homer. Austin Calhoon, Austin Richey and Drew DeMers had two hits apiece. Calhoon drove in three runs. Derek Graesser, Reed Harter, Chandler Bakley, Oscar Pravacek and Trevor Salmonson each had hits. Harter drove in three runs. Graesser earned the win after striking out eight batters, allowing seven hits, two earned runs and zero walks in seven innings.

For Corsica-Stickney, Kiefer Johnson had two hits and drove in a run. Caleb Crist, Luke Bamberg, Aaron Groeneweg, Loga Bakker and Brendan Wentland each had hits. Gavin Zomer took the loss after allowing five hits, eight earned runs, two walks and struck out zero batters.  


Castlewood Ravens 13, Volga Cormorants 2 (7 innings) 

VOLGA — The Castlewood Ravens picked up an Eastern Dakota League amateur baseball win on Sunday.

Blayne Schliesman led the Ravens with two hits and drove in three runs, including a solo home run. Adam Ching had two hits and four RBI. Gus Steiger and Kyler Tvedt each had hits. J. Tvedt struck out five batters, allowed six hits, one earned run and zero walks in his 6.2 inning start. 

For Volga, Noah Puetz, Carson Christopherson, Zane Hiller and Kyler Bezdichek each had hits. Dylan Vosburg took the loss after allowing four hits, four earned runs, three walks and struck out six batters through four innings. 


Lesterville 16, Irene 1 (5 innings)

IRENE — The Broncs hit three homers as Lesterville took down Irene in South Central league action Sunday afternoon.

Ethan Wishon, Micheal Drotzmann, and Hunter Martin were the three Broncs to homer in the game, combining for four hits and eight RBIs.

Tyler Edler drove in four runs on two hits, while Tanner Van Driel and Brody Bierle each tallied hits in the win.

Wishon earned the victory in three innings pitched for Lesterville, allowing three hits, three walks, and one earned run.

Dashell Spurrell highlighted the Cardinal offense with a second inning homer, while Dustin Livingston collected two hits.

Preston Gall earned the loss on the mound for Irene, allowing four hits, nine walks, and nine earned runs in 2.2 innings.


Flandreau Cardinals 3, Madison Dairy Queen Broncos 2 (7 innings)

FLANDREAU — The Cardinals score two runs in the closing innings to edge Madison in the first half of a doubleheader in Cornbelt League action Sunday.

Jacoby Anderson was huge at the plate for Flandreau, batting 3-for-3, cracking two solo home runs. Beau Severtson gave Flandreau the lead in the fifth with an RBI single.

For Madison, Tyler Tappe took the loss tossing seven innings on the mound, allowing seven hits, two walks, and three earned runs while striking out 10 batters.

Heith Williams led the team in hits with two, while Aspen Dahl, Logan Albee, and Nate Ricke each tacked on hits in the loss.


Madison Dairy Queen Broncos 4, Flandreau Cardinals 3 (7 innings)

FLANDREAU — Madison splits the double header after taking Game 2 in a one-run nail-biter over Flandreau Sunday afternoon.

Heith WIlliams and Aspen Dahl did most of the damage for Madison, driving in three runs on two doubles in the fifth inning.

Peyton Wolf, Trey smith, Dawson Bakker, and Ty Jorgenson each tallied hits in the win for Madison, with Jorgenson driving in another run.

Dahl earned the victory on the mound in six innings pitched, issuing four hits, four walks, and three runs while striking out nine.

Logan Albee tossed three strikeouts in the final frame to earn the save.

For Flandreau, Beau Severtson led the Cardinals with two hits including a double, while Keith Cutler drove in one on one hit, and Calvin Hegg added a hit, a walk, and an RBI.


Salem Cubs 5, Flandreau Blue Teal 2 (7 innings)

SALEM — A four-run fifth inning was the difference as the Cubs took Game 1 over Flandreau Sunday afternoon.

The top part of the order did the most damage for Salem, as Bobby Koepsell, Kyle Tuschen, and Cole Cheeseman each added hits including two combined walks, while Hakeem Yatim drove in two runs on a double and added another walk.

Luke Loudenburg and Isaac Anderson combined for the win on the mound, giving up five hits, one walk, and two earned runs while striking out seven in the win.

For Flandreau, Tanner Christenson, Kolby Peters, Gage Sharping, and Tristan Van Wasenhove each tallied hits in the win.

Brendon Gregory took the loss on the mound, suffering one hit, four walks, and one earned run in four innings pitched, striking out five batters.


Flandreau Blue Teal 6, Salem Cubs 0 (7 innings)

SALEM — Ethan Johnson throws seven shutout innings to blank the Salem Cubs in Cornbelt League action Sunday.

Johnson allowed two hits and six walks while striking out four batters in his 123 pitch outing.

The Blue Teal mustered 11 hits in the win, with Gage Sharping, Kolby Peters, and Sam Gassman each collecting two hits. Peters drove in two runs in the win as well.

Tanner Christenson, Tash Lunday, Paul Mc Glone, Mason Riley, and Tristan Van Wassenhove each collected hits in the win.

For Salem, Braedon Kerkhove saw the majority of the pitching in the loss, allowing 11 hits, one walk, and six earned runs while striking out four in five innings.

Tyler Cleveland recorded the lone hit for Salem in the loss.


Milbank Firechiefs 12, Clark Traders 4

CLARK — Dom Boerger struck out 18 batters and drove in five runs at the plate as the Firechiefs defeated Clark in Eastern Dakota League action Sunday.

Boerger hit 2-for-4 with a walk, a three-RBI double, a two-run home run to complete the five-RBI day, while throwing seven shutout innings giving up just two hits and a walk to earn the victory on the mound.

Mitch Quade added three hits, including a double, triple, and two walks while driving in two more runs.

Brady Femling added two hits and an RBI, Tyler Krause drove in two runs on one hit, and Brady Krause went 1-for-4 with two walks and an RBI.

For Clark, Hudson Fuller took the loss on the mound, giving up eight hits, three walks, and eight runs in 5.2 innings pitched.

Peyton Gerbers led the Traders with three hits including a double and two-RBIs, while Rhett Florey added a double and a home run, driving in two more runs in the loss.


Hartford-Humboldt Gamecocks 3, Canova Gang 1 (7 innings)

HUMBOLDT — Cole Barthel limited the Class B defending champs to four hits as the Gamecocks took Game 1 in Cornbelt League action Sunday.

Barthel earned the win throwing all seven innings, giving up four hits and one run in 73 pitches, striking out three.

Joe Hanisch tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the first on an RBI-single, while Briggs Havlik scored the go-ahead runs with a two-RBI single in the second inning.

Jonah Rechtenbaugh collected two hits in the win, while Cam Quigley, Devon Garry, Chad Morrison, and Nate Masloski each collected one hit.

For Canova, Derek Miller took the loss on the mound, surrendering eight hits, three walks, and three runs while striking out nine.

Riley Genzlinger tallied two hits, while Jared and Justin Miller added two hits.


Canova Gang 2, Hartford-Humboldt Gamecocks 1 (11 innings)

HUMBOLDT — Tim Gassman’s walk-off RBI-single ends an 11 inning marathon for Canova, earning a Cornbelt League victory Sunday night.

Canova split the double header after losing 3-1 early in the day against the Gamecocks.

Justin Miller led the Gang in hits with two, while eight other batters tallied hits in the win.

Kendall Gassman earned the victory for Canova, throwing 11 innings, allowing six hits, one walk, and one run to go along with eight strikeouts.

Briggs Havlik took the loss for the Gamecocks, giving up seven hits and one walk in six innings, while striking out five batters.

Adam Hentges led HH with two hits, while five other batters tallied hits in the loss.


Four Corners 16, Colome Chaos 12

HAYES —  Four Corners scored 10 runs in the final two innings to defeat Colome in a Pony Hills League marathon Sunday.

Four Corners racked up 13 hits in the win, led by Kris Dozark with three including one RBI.

Jack Van Camp, Andy McCloud, and Jason Overweg played big roles as well, combining for six hits and five RBIs in the win.

Four other batters tallied hits in the victory for Four Corners.

Using a barrage of pitchers, Peyton Zabel earned the victory on the mound, throwing two innings, giving up three hits, one walk, and one earned run to go with four strikeouts.

For Colome, Kevin Carter took the loss in 4.2 innings pitched, issuing six hits, four walks, and 10 earned runs while striking out five.

Layton Thieman, Jay Skogerboe, and Ethan Vobr had huge days at the plate, Thieman batted 3-for-5 with a homerun and five-RBIs, Skogerboe went 3-for-4 with a walk and three-RBIs, and Vobr added another three hits, including a homer and two runs batted in.

Carter Brickman, Joey Cole, and Jason Frasch each added two hits and a walk in the loss.


Wessington Springs Owls 4, Winner Demons 2

WINNER — The Owls held off a late-inning comeback to earn a Pony Hills League victory over the Winner Demons on Sunday.

Four players for Wessington Springs finished with multi-hit days in the win. Coy Fastnacht led the way with three hits, Mason Schelske added two hits, and Cade Mohling and Camden Jost each recorded two hits and an RBI in the victory.

Terrek Butterfield drove in one run on one hit and a walk, while Landon Cleveland finished with one hit and two walks in the win.

Three Owls saw time on the mound, with Butterfield doing the brunt of the work with five shutout innings, allowing four runs, one walk, striking out four.

For Winner, Shane Phillips led the offense with three hits, while Pierce Nelson and Jack Peters each collected two hits.

Evan Farner and Ashton Klein drove in one run apiece on a combined two hits and two walks.

Farner saw the most work pitching seven innings, giving up 11 hits, four walks, and four runs while striking out seven batters.


Groton Locke Electric 5, Northville Merchants 2

NORTHVILLE — Alex Morris threw a complete game to help Groton defeat Northville Sunday night.

Morris threw nine innings, giving up eight hits, two walks, and two earned runs to go along with nine strikeouts in the victory.

The top of the order did the most damage for Groton, with the first three batters combining for all five RBIs in the win.

Ty Sieber batted 2-for-5 with two-RBIs, Ben Althoff added a hit, a walk, and an RBI, and Spencer Knecht added a two-RBI double in the victory

For Northville, Bryan Weber took the loss on the mound, allowing seven hits, one walk, and three runs in four innings pitched.

Carter Lane and Ethan Beyers collected two hits apiece, including an RBI from Lane.

Four other batters tallied hits in the loss for the Merchants.


Kimball/White Lake Nationals 15, Plankinton Bankers 6

PLANKINTON — Dylanger Pierson drove in seven runs as the Nationals picked up a Pony Hills League victory over the Bankers Sunday.

Pierson batted 3-for-4 with two home runs and two walks to go with his seven-RBI day.

Hudson Heath added three hits including a double and two RBIs, Jonny Lyons added two hits driving in three more runs, and Trent Wookey tacked on two hits with an RBI.

Caden Lenz and Jaxon Christensen each added two hits in the win as well.

Heath earned the victory on the mound for the Nationals, giving up two hits, four walks, and three runs, while striking out seven in 5.1 innings.

For the Bankers, Devin Mehlhaff took the loss, allowing 10 hits, two walks, and eight runs in 6.2 innings.

Drew Gerlach drove in two runs on one hit and one walk, while Griffin Tobin, Kane Knudson, Thomas Stange, and Blaine Bohr each tallied hits in the loss.


Alexandria Angels 2, Platte Killer Tomatoes 1

PLATTE — Jacob Giles went the distance on the mound as the Angels squeaked out a Sunshine League victory Sunday night.

Giles threw all nine innings, giving up two hits, seven walks, and one unearned run while striking out five to earn the victory on the mound.

Cole Wenande, Tyson Gau, Pierce Smith, Michael Schoettmer, and Jackson Jarding each tallied hits in the victory for the Angels.

For Platte, Dawson Hoffman took the loss in an eight inning outing, giving up five hits, two walks, and two earned runs, striking out three batters.

Preston Nedved drove in a run on a double and a walk, while Micheal Buitenbos added the only other hit for the ‘Mators in the loss.

 

Crofton Blue Jays (Neb.) 5, Menno MadFrogs 3

MENNO — Crofton jumped out to a 5-run lead to earn a South Central League victory Sunday night.

Offensively, Colton Schieffer led the Blue Jays with two hits driving in one run. 

James Kaiser, Jared Wiebelhaus, Seth Wiebelhaus, Dylan Hegge, Ausin Tramp, and Justin Potts each tallied hits in the win for Crofton.

Kaiser, Tramp, Potts, and Trent Jansen each had one RBI in the win as well.

Ben Hegge saw most of the work on the mound, giving up three hits, five walks, and three unearned runs in five innings while striking out seven.

For Menno, Dylan Lehr led the team in hits with two, including a walk and an RBI. Bryce Sattler, Macon Oplinger, Kyle Munkvold, Nick Ratzloff, and Conner Merriam each collected hits in the loss.

Oplinger threw six innings, giving up nine hits, two walks, and five earned runs while fanning five batters for Menno as well.


Brookings Cubs 9, Dell Rapids PBR 5

BROOKINGS — Rhett Zelinsky drives in five runs to defeat Dell Rapids in amateur baseball action Sunday night.

Zelinsky batted 3-for-5 with a double to go along with his five-RBI night.

Zach Shastay drove in two runs on an RBI triple, while Justin Cofell drove in a run on one hit as well.

Shastay earned the victory on the mound, throwing two shutout innings of relief, allowing one hit and fanning four batters.

For PBR, Riley Hoffman earned the loss on the mound, giving up six hits, five walks, and eight runs in five innings.

Zach Puetz led PBR with three hits, while CJ Smith and Drew Sweeter each collected two hits.

Will Jaton and Hoffman added one hit apiece in the loss as well.


Lesterville Broncs 10, Irene Cardinals 1 (7 innings)

IRENE — The Broncs racked up 16 hits to sweep Irene in a South Central League double header Sunday afternoon.

Michael Drotzmann led the way with a perfect 4-for-4 day, including a home run, a walk, and five RBIs.

Hunter Martin and Tanner Van Driel each tallied three hits for Lesterville, while Ethan Wishon and Andy Dollerschell added two hits apiece, including a home run off the bat of Dollerschell.

Dawson Bietz earned the win on the mound for Lesterville, allowing two hits, one walk, and one earned run in five innings, striking out nine batters.

Tate Gale took the loss for Irene, giving up 10 hits and six earned runs while striking out three in three innings.

Dustin Livingston and Bryant Knodel each tallied hits for Irene in the loss.


Freeman Blacksox 5, Yankton Tappers 3

YANKTON — Freeman scored five runs in the eighth inning to defeat Yankton in amateur baseball action Sunday night.

Evan Scharberg and Jackson Fiegen led the way with two hits apiece, including a double by Scharberg, combining for three runs batted in.

Lee Scherschligt drove in one run on one hit and one walk, while Rocky Ammann and Chet Peterson each tallied hits.

Trey Christensen earned the win in a seven-inning outing for the Blacksox, giving up six hits and three runs while striking out four.

For the Tappers, Caden Eymann took the loss in eight inning pitched, giving up seven hits, two walks, and five earned runs, striking out 11.

Rugby Ryken, Rex Ryken, and Will Rauch each collected two hits in the loss, while Mark Ryken and Samuel Kampschoff each added hits.

 

Dimock-Emery Raptors 10, Parkston Devil Rays 0 (8 innings)

PARKSTON — Landon Waddell threw seven shutout innings to earn the Raptors a Sunshine League victory over the Devil Rays Sunday night.

In Waddell’s seven inning outing, he gave up just three hits and seven walks, striking out 14 batters to earn the victory on the mound for DE.

The Raptors exploded for seven runs in the top of the eighth to earn the mercy rule victory.

Peyton Nash led the way with three hits, including two RBIs.

Sam Pischke, Drew Kitchens, Phil Johnson, Colton Plagmann, and Doug Sudbeck each tallied hits, with Johnson and Sudbeck driving in one run apiece.

For Parkston, Jake Helleloid took the loss in a seven inning outing, giving up six hits, three walks, and four runs to go with 10 strikeouts.

Max Scott gave up an additional hit, three walks, and five runs in his relief outing.

Dylan Soulek, Ty Neugebauer, and Landon Sudbeck each tallied hits in the loss for the Devil Rays.
