June 21 Legion Baseball Roundup - Bradley Hansen’s no-hitter lifts Sisseton over Castlewood in American Legion Heritage Classic

Sisseton 10, Castlewood 0 (4 innings)

MILBANK — Bradley Hansen’s no-hitter lifted Sisseton past Castlewood in Saturday’s American Legion Heritage Classic.

Hansen allowed just two walks and one hit batter in four innings of work, striking out five to earn the victory on the mound. Hughin Current drove in two runs on two hits, including a double, Max Dahlen, Rylan Anderson and LJ Crooks each drove in a run on one hit while Ryder White tallied an RBI in the win.

For Castlewood, Dante Schortzman allowed nine runs on five hits and four walks in 3.1 innings, striking out nine batters.


Madison 10, Salem 3

SALEM — Cohen Hahn tossed six strong innings in Madison’s legion baseball win over Salem Saturday.

Hahn allowed three unearned runs on one hit and four walks, striking out two batters to earn the win on the mound. Carson Wolf led Madison with three hits and two RBIs, Jordan Pedersen added an RBI on one hit, Ryland Johnson drove in three runs on a double, Casyn Crabtree collected an RBI on a double and two walks, while Tregg McGillivray added an RBI walk.

For Salem, Korbin Schumaker tallied the only hit and RBI of the game. Carter Randall allowed 10 runs on six hits and four walks in four innings pitched, striking out six.


Claremont Junior Legion 5, Big Stone City 2

MILBANK — Rennan Bruns tossed a complete game on the mound as Claremont defeated Big Stone City at the American Legion Heritage Classic Saturday.

Bruns allowed just two runs on five hits and four walks in a complete game, fanning five batters. Jack Podoll, Nate Schuller and Grant Cutler each tallied RBIs on one hit while Case Reints drove in a run on two walks in the win.

For BSC, Connor Ohn took the loss allowing two runs on one hit and four walks in two innings pitched, fanning four batters. Ohn drove in a run on one hit and one walk for the Badgers while Connor Danielson tallied a double in the loss.


Colton 10, Scotland/Menno/Freeman/Canistota 5 (6 innings)

VERMILLION — Alex Wingen drove in four runs as Colton defeated Salem/Menno/Freeman/Canistota in legion action Saturday.

Wingen drove in four runs on three hits, Mason Hemme had two RBIs on one hit and one walk, Aiden Bunde tallied an RBI on one hit, while Brody Dybvig drove in a run as well. Wingen also earned the victory on the mound in three innings of work, allowing five runs on seven hits and a walk, fanning four batters.

For SMFC, Evan Scharberg allowed six runs on three hits and five walks in three innings, striking out three. Scharberg and Easton Miller each drove in two runs on two hits, including two doubles from Miller and one from Scharberg.


Scotland/Menno/Freeman/Canistota 9, Vermillion 1 (6 innings)

VERMILLION — Easton Miller piled up four RBIs as Scotland/Menno/Freeman/Canistota took down Vermillion Saturday in legion action.

Miller collected two hits, a double, triple, and four RBIs, Riley Tschetter tallied two hits, including a double, Evan Scharberg had two hits, a double, and an RBI while Tayden Kerrigan collected two hits, a triple, walk and two RBIs in the win. Bryce Sattler added a double and an RBI as well. Sattler earned the win on the mound in six innings pitched, allowing one run on three hits while striking out two in just 54 pitches.


Vermillion 6, Colton 4 (6 innings)

VERMILLION — A three-run sixth inning powered Vermillion past Colton in legion baseball action Saturday.

Jack Moskowitz and Corbin Heckens each tallied an RBI on two hits, Ryan Vitt and Mikey Roob each drove in a run on one hit while Teddy Nesmith drove in a run as well. Vitt earned the victory on the mound allowing four runs on 12 hits and a walk in six innings pitched, fanning four batters.

For Colton, Braxton Allen took the loss, surrendering six runs on eight hits in four innings. B Hemme drove in two runs on three hits while Carter Sorenson, Alex Wingen and Nathan Madison each tallied two hits in the loss.


Redfield 14, Lake Norden/Badger 2 (3 innings)

MILBANK — Eli Morrissette drove in three runs as Redfield took down Lake Norden/Badger during Saturday’s American Legion Heritage Classic action.

Morrissette drove in three runs on a homer, Kevin Weller drove in two runs on two hits, a triple, and a walk, Jackson Rude collected an RBI on one hit and one walk, Tate Bray added a hit, two walks and an RBI while Hunter Binger drove in a run on a walk as well. Morrissette earned the victory on the mound, allowing two unearned runs on two hits and two walks in three innings, fanning four batters.

For LNB, Teague Stevenson allowed eight runs on four hits and two walks in 1.1 innings, striking out four. Caleb Drenth drove in a run on one hit in the loss.


Warner/Ipswich/Northville 10, Volga Jr. Legion 2 (5 innings)

MILBANK — Warner/Ipswich/Northville piled up eight hits as it defeated Volga Junior Legion at the American Heritage Classic Saturday.

Alec Mikkelson tallied three hits, a walk and an RBI, Drew Bakeberg drove in two runs on two doubles, Devon Fischbach and Lincoln Kroll each drove in a run on one hit while Jacob Schmitt and Chays Mansfield each tallied RBIs on a walk in the win. Fischbach took the win on the mound allowing two runs on three hits and a walk in five innings, striking out seven.

For Volga, Wyatt Nelson allowed four runs on three hits and a walk in 1.2 innings. Wyatt Hardt tallied two hits, including a triple in the loss.


Huron 4, Rapid City Post 320 3

HURON — Cooper Bischoff’s RBI single lifted Huron past Rapid City Post 320 in walk-off fashion Saturday.

Bischoff tallied an RBI on one hit in the win, Gabe Waldner added two hits and an RBI while Anderson Porisch collected an RBI on a walk in the win. Jack Pedersen allowed three runs one eight hits and a walk in a complete game on the mound, striking out seven.

For RC, Kason Kostenbauer allowed three runs on two hits and five walks in five innings pitched to take the loss. Ayden Byrd drove in two runs on one hit, Gaven Heintzman added an RBI on one hit, while Jonah Blake, Tegan Sayles and Noah Wald each collected two hits in the loss.


Wagner 13, Albion (Neb.) 0

CREIGHTON, NEB. — Carter Cournoyer struck out 12 batters in Wagner’s legion baseball win Saturday.

Cournoyer allowed just one hit in five shutout innings, fanning 12 batters in the win. Frank Soukup drove in two runs on two hits and two walks, Edward Ulrich added three RBIs on a double and a walk, Joey Cournoyer collected an RBI on two hits, a double, and a walk, Carter Cournoyer had a hit, two walks and an RBI while Hunter Loeffler had two RBIs on a double and a walk in the win. Landon Mudder and Octavian Kocer each had RBIs as well.


Spearfish 11, Valentine (Neb.) 0 (5 innings)

CHADRON — Jack Scharf tossed five shutout innings as Spearfish earned a legion baseball win Saturday.

Scharf gave up just three hits and four walks in five shutout innings while striking out four batters as well. Walker Viessman drove in three runs on two hits, including a triple, Owen Bruner added two RBIs on two hits and a walk, Scharf collected two hits and an RBI while Tucker Olson tallied an RBI in the win as well.


Spearfish 6, Chadron (Neb.) 0 (6 innings)

CHADRON — Sean Sewell tossed six shutout innings as Spearfish swept two Nebraska teams in legion baseball Saturday.

Sewell allowed just five hits and two walks in six shutout innings, fanning five batters in the winning performance. Jack Branum added two hits and two RBIs, Jack Scharf drove in two runs on a hit, Sewell added an RBI on a single while Tucker Olson tallied two hits in the win as well.


Renner 14, Kasson (Minn.) 11

MARSHALL — Parker Scheidt and Jack Canfield each drove in three runs as Renner defeated Kasson, Minnesota, in Legion baseball action Saturday.

Scheidt drove in three runs on three hits, including a triple, Canfield added two hits, a double, and three RBIs, Alex Jaspers drove in two runs on a homer and a walk, Joe Neufeld plated two runs on a double and a walk, Zach Barr collected two hits, a double, walk, and an RBI while Paxton Sohn added an RBI on one hit and one walk in the win. Brogan Moffit earned the win on the mound, allowing seven runs on four hits and four walks in four innings pitched, striking out five batters.


Rapid City Post 22 14, Millard North (Neb.) 10

OMAHA — A four-run seventh inning powered Rapid City Post 22 to a legion baseball victory over Millard North Saturday.

Lars Kieffer led the Hardhats driving in four runs on two hits, including a home run, D Steen drove in two runs on two hits, Jace Morgan, Aiden Roberts, Wyatt Reeder and Carter Johnson each collected two hits and an RBI while Dawson Inhofer drove in a run on a double in the win. Skyler Montgomery took the win on the mound allowing two runs on one hit and one walk in three innings pitched, fanning two batters.
