June 23 Amateur Baseball Roundup - Reid Smith's walk-off single lifts Alexandria past Winner/Colome

ALEXANDRIA — Reid Smith’s walk-off single propelled Alexandria past Winner/Colome for a Sunshine League amateur baseball win on Friday. It’s the second walk-off game between the amateur baseball powers, with Winner/Colome winning 5-4 in 10 innings on June 11. 

Jed Schmidt earned the win after seven strikeouts, four hits allowed, zero earned runs and one walk through 112 pitches. 

Tyson Gau, Jordan Gau, Peyton Smith, Michael Schoettmer and Jerrod Zens had hits for the Angels.  

For Winner/Colome, Drew DeMers, Reed Harter, Chandler Bakley and Trevor Salmonson each had hits. 

Connor Hopkins took the loss after allowing six hits, two earned runs, four walks and struck out six batters through 8 2/3 innings. 


Dell Rapids Mudcats 10, Dell Rapids PBR 0 (7 innings)

DELL RAPIDS — The Dell Rapids Mudcats blanked Dell Rapids PBR at their annual “Take Me Out To The Ball Game” contest.

Carter Gullickson led the Mudcats with four hits and one RBI. Ty Hoglund and Kole Zimmerman both hit home runs, with Zimmerman hitting a three-run homer. Dalton Lehnen and Trevor Freudenthal had two hits and two RBI apiece. Lehnen earned the win after 12 strikeouts, three hits allowed and three walks in his six-inning start. 

For PBR, Weston Hanson, Teagen Schlimgen and Brad Donovan each had hits. Trey Randel took the loss after allowing 14 hits, 10 runs (six earned), four walks and struck out six batters.
