Mitchell Aces 15, Parker Ringnecks 1 (8 innings)

MITCHELL — Three Mitchell pitchers combined for 15 strikeouts as the Aces defeated Parker Wednesday night.

Colin Stange threw five shutout innings for Mitchell, allowing just one walk while striking out nine. Tyson Sabers and Hudson Haley combined for three innings, allowing two hits, one walk, and one run while striking out six in the win.

Peyton Mandel led the offense with three hits, including a double, a walk, and three RBIs, Conor Mattke drove in two runs on a homer, Porter Geppert added one hit and two RBIs, Hudson Borgan batted 2-for-2 with a walk, two doubles, and an RBI, and Karter Sibson drove in two runs in the win as well.

Carter Miller, Lincoln Bates, and Parker Mandel each drove in one run in the win for Mitchell.

For Parker, Austin Clarke took the loss allowing 13 hits, six walks, and 15 runs while striking out eight batters in seven innings.

Colin Robertson and Jevin Erickson each tallied hits, with Robertson driving in the lone run for Parker.


Sioux Falls Brewers 2, Sioux Falls Flying Squirrels 0

SIOUX FALLS — Carson Askdal’s complete-game outing helped blank the Flying Squirrels in Sioux Empire League action Wednesday night.

Askdal allowed just six hits and two walks across nine innings of work, striking out five batters to earn the victory on the mound.

Sam Siegel paced the Brewers offense with two doubles, while Ian Strum drove in a run on one hit and one walk. Drue Soukup recorded two hits while Jack Sutton tallied a hit in the win as well.

For the Flying Squirrels, Stuart Baruth took the loss in a seven inning effort, allowing four hits, three walks, and two runs while striking out seven.

Connor Hurley tallied two doubles, while Kyle Gulbrandson, Trevor Hurley,  Dylan Ades, and Jaden Holzer each tallied hits in the loss.


Castlewood Ravens 16, Volga Cormorants 4 (7 innings)

CASTLEWOOD — Nate Phinney’s six-RBI night helped Castlewood defeat Volga in Eastern Dakota League action Wednesday night.

Phinney batted 4-for-6 with all six RBIs coming from a two-run homer and a grandslam. Kellan Benck batted 2-for-3 with a walk, double, home run, and two RBIs, Hunter Smith drove in three runs on three hits, including two doubles, and Skyler Solsaa drove in two more runs on one hit and two walks.

Blayne Schliesman and Kyler Tvedt each tallied one hit and one RBI, while Jacob Tvedt and Adam Ching each recorded hits in the win.

Benck earned the victory on the mound for Castlewood, throwing six innings, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out five.

For Volga, Cole Gross took the loss in 3.2 innings pitched, allowing 12 hits, four walks, and 10 runs while striking out four.

Gross and Kyler Bezdichek each drove in one run on one hit for Volga, while Noah Puetz, Zane Hiller, and Tate Steffenson each tallied hits in the loss.


Lake Norden Lakers 17, Elkton Snappers 2 (6 innings)

ELKTON — Mitchell Noem’s six-RBI night helped lift Lake Norden over Elkton in a Eastern Dakota League victory Wednesday night.

Noem batted 2-for-4 with a walk, including a three-run homer and a two-RBI single. Kale Stevenson batted 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs, Josh Cleveland drove in three runs on three hits, including a double and a homer, while Kevin Krumm and Jordon Johnson each tallied one hit and two RBIs in the win.

Johnson earned the victory on the mound for Lake Norden, allowing three hits, two walks, and one run in five innings while striking out two.

For Elkton, Dylan Gillespie took the loss in a four-inning effort, allowing four hits, one walk, and seven runs while striking out four.

Aidan Stewart drove in the only two runs for Elkton on a double, while Brady Steffen, Eliot Erickson, Aiden Erickson, and Billy Stuefen each tallied hits in the loss.


Winner/Colome Pheasants 13, Parkston Devil Rays 1 (8 innings) 

PARKSTON — Winner/Colome continued its torrid offensive season on Wednesday.

The Pheasants racked up 12 hits and Connor Hopkins struck out nine batters in a Sunshine League amateur baseball win.

Austin Richey finished with three hits and smacked a solo home run. Dillon Lambley had three hits and drove in two runs. Aiden Barfuss and Reed Harter had two hits apiece. Harter drove in three runs, while Barfuss had an RBI. Austin Calhoon and Trevor Salmonson each had hits. Hopkins allowed five hits, one earned run and walked one batter in seven innings. 

For the Devil Rays, Max Scott had two hits. Brayden Jervik, Dylan Soulek, Ragen Weber and Jake Helleloid each had hits. Soulek took the loss, allowing three hits, six earned runs, eight walks and struck out five batters in 3.2 innings.
