Winner/Colome Pheasants 16, Platte Killer Tomatoes 3 (7 innings) 

PLATTE — Winner/Colome racked up 16 hits en route to a Sunshine League amateur baseball win on Thursday. 

Derek Graesser and Reed Harter both finished with three hits and drove in two runs apiece. Graesser belted a homer, while Harter smacked two doubles. Chandler Bakley, Aiden Barfuss and Isaiah Olson had two hits apiece. Bakley and Dillon Lambley drove in two runs apiece. Kelly O’Bryan, Austin Calhoon and Zach Harter each had hits. Harter drove in a run. O’Bryan struck out seven batters, allowed two hits, three earned runs and three walks in seven innings.

For Platte, Preston Nedved hit a three-run homer. Matt Link added a hit. Dawson Hoffman struck out three batters, allowed nine hits, seven earned runs and walked three batters in a three-inning loss. 


Dell Rapids PBR 3, Salem Cubs 2

DELL RAPIDS — Riley Hoffman’s 10-strikeout performance on the mound lifted PBR to a Cornbelt League win over Salem Thursday.

Hoffman allowed just two runs on 10 hits and two walks in eight complete innings, striking out 10 batters. Tanner Solberg had two hits for PBR, Zack Puetz tallied two doubles and an RBI, Trey Randel drove in a run, while Hoffman and Drew Sweeter each had hits in the win.

For Salem, Isaac Anderson allowed two runs on three hits and a walk in four innings pitched, striking out one. Tyler Cleveland had two hits and an RBI while Owen Alley and Jacob Vonberge each tallied two hits in the loss.


Madison Dairy Queen Broncos 12, Flandreau Cardinals 11

MADISON — Ty Jorgenson’s walk-off single lifted Madison to a Cornbelt League victory over Flandreau Thursday.

Jorgenson capped off a four-run ninth inning to stun the Cardinals, Dawson Bakker added five RBIs on four hits, including a double and a homer, Tyler Tappe added three RBIs on two hits and a walk, Peyton Wolf drove in a run on one hit and two walks, Trey Smith and JD Kirchner each collected a hit and two walks, while Heith Williams tallied two hits, one double, in the win. Riley Kearin earned the victory on the mound, allowing two walks in one inning of relief, fanning two batters.

For Flandreau, JaColby Anderson took the loss, surrendering seven runs on five hits and a walk in 2.2 innings, striking out three. Bret Severtson tallied three RBIs on a homer and a walk, Austin Koenig and Noel Burgos each had two hits while Rick Weber, Beau Severtson each had two RBIs on a hit and a walk in the loss.


Flandreau Blue Teal 8, Canova Gang 1

BERESFORD — Tash Lunday struck out five batters, while Emmot Nathan and Tanner Christenson both hit home runs as the Flandreau Blue Teal defeated Canova in Cornbelt League amateur baseball action. 

Lunday allowed 11 hits, one earned run and walked three batters in a complete-game performance. Lunday also drove in a run at the plate. 

Nathan hit a two-run homer, while Christensen hit a solo home run on a 3-for-3 performance. Kolby Peters had two hits and drove in a run, while Sam Gassman knocked in two runs. 

For Canova, Justin Miller and Kendall Gassman had three hits. Jared Miller finished with two hits. Luke Koepsell drove in a run. Derek Miller allowed 11 hits, eight earned runs, three walks and struck out two batters in a seven-inning loss. 


Parkston Devil Rays 7, Dimock/Emery Raptors 3

PARKSTON — Five late-game runs powered the Parkston Devil Rays past Dimock/Emery during Thursday’s Sunshine League action.

Tanner Dyk powered the Rays’ offense with two hits and two RBIs, Jake Helleloid added three hits, including two doubles, James Deckert added two hits, including a triple, while Seth Muth and Carter Sommer each drove in a run on one hit in the win. Nolan Dvorak took the win on the mound, allowing three runs on seven hits and a walk in eight innings, fanning five batters.

For DE, Josh Engquist took the loss allowing seven runs on nine hits and two walks in eight innings, striking out nine. Phil Johnson led the Raptors with two hits, a double, and two RBIs, Engquist added two hits and an RBI, Drew Kitchens tallied two hits, including a double, while Sam Arend added a hit and a walk in the loss.


Wessington Springs Owls 11, Winner Demons 1 (7 innings)

WINNER — Trevor Kenobbie drove in five runs as Wessington Springs defeated Winner in Pony Hills League Action Thursday.

Kenobbie batted 2-for-5 with two doubles, driving in five total runs in the win, Tyson Lien added two hits and an RBI, Camden Jost drove in a run on a double, while Drew Olinger and Mason Schelske combined for three RBIs in the win. Parker DeJean took the victory on the mound allowing one unearned run on six hits and a walk in seven innings, striking out nine.

For Winner, Ethan Bartels allowed 10 runs on five hits and two walks in 6.1 innings, striking out eight batters. Landon Calhoon and Ashton Klein each tallied two hits while Kayleb Brozik and Casey Heenan each had hits in the loss.


Parkston Mudcats 4, Mitchell Aces 1

MITCHELL — Max Scott drove in three runs as the Mudcats defeated Mitchell in Sunshine League action Thursday.

Scott tallied three RBIs on two doubles in the win, Jeff Harris added an RBI on two hits and a walk, while Luke Bormann, Spencer Freudenthal, Brady Nolz, and Brayden Jervik each tallied a hit in the win. Braxton Wilhelm earned the victory on the mound, allowing one unearned run on five hits and two walks in 7.1 innings of work, striking out four.

For Mitchell, Mason Herman allowed four runs on eight hits and two walks in 7.2 innings, fanning three batters. Karter Sibson had two hits, Peyton Mandel drove in a run on one hit, while Lincoln Bates and Herman each tallied hits in the loss.


Burke Bombers 4, Chamberlain Mallards 0

CHAMBERLAIN — Gannon Thomas struck out eight batters in a two-hit shutout as Burke blanked Chamberlain in Pony Hills League amateur baseball action on Thursday.

Thomas walked just one batter on 113 pitches. Thomas added a hit at the plate. Hunter Van Niewenhuyse went 2-for-4 at the plate, while Ben Witt, Blake Boes, Aaron Sundquist and Sawyer Tietgen each had hits. 

For Chamberlain, Dakota Munger and Timothy Travis each had hits. Travis struck out five batters, allowed seven hits, one earned run and walked three batters through 8.1 innings. 


Tabor Bluebirds 11, Menno MadFrogs 3

TABOR — Tabor pounded out 15 hits as the Bluebirds topped Menno in South Central League action Thursday.

Riley Rothschadl and Joey Slama powered the Bluebird offense with four hits apiece, including a double from Rothschadl and two doubles by Slama, each driving in one run. Matt Brown drove in three runs on a homer, Beau Rothschadl tallied two RBIs on two hits, Sam Caba collected two RBIs on a double and three walks, while Easton Mudder added two hits, one double, in the win. Bryce Scieszinski led Tabor on the mound, allowing one run on five hits and a walk in seven innings pitched, striking out 11 batters.

For Menno, Brayden Sattler allowed eight runs on 12 hits and three walks in seven innings, striking out six batters. Nick Ratzloff and Connor Merriam each drove in a run on two hits, including a homer by Ratzloff and a double from Merriam. Macon Oplinger tallied two hits in the loss as well.


Four Corners 20, Colome Chaos 7 (8 innings)

COLOME — Four Corners pounded out 21 hits as it defeated Colome in mercy rule fashion Thursday night.

Sam Hand led the offense batting 4-for-4 with a walk and a homer, driving in four runs in the win, Brad Hand and Andrew McCloud each drove in three runs on three hits, including a homer by Brad Hand. Justin Lester tallied three RBIs on a double, Garret Stout added two RBIs on three hits, two doubles, and a walk, Jeremy Hand drove in two runs on a double while Matt Lusk and Jace Hand each tallied two hits in the win. Jeremy Hand earned the victory on the mound, allowing seven runs on 12 hits and two walks in five innings, striking out three.

For Colome, Jake Luse allowed 10 runs on 14 hits and three walks in six innings of work, fanning five batters. Shea Connot and Layton Thieman each tallied three hits, Carter Dye added three hits and a solo home run, Carter Brickman and Joseph Laprath each had two hits, while Justus Gregg drove in a run on one hit in the loss.


Sioux Falls Flying Squirrels 9, Baltic River Dawgs 7

SIOUX FALLS — Jaxen DeHann and Connor Hurley each drove in three runs as the FLying Squirrels defeated Baltic in Sioux Empire League action Thursday.

DeHann led the Squirrels with three hits, a walk, and three RBIs while Hurley drove in three runs on a double. Dexter Payne and Damon Baruth each drove in a run on three hits, Trevor Hurley added two hits, a walk, and an RBI, while Zach Dibble tallied two hits in the win. Jake Wheeler took the win on the mound in 1.1 shutout innings, allowing two hits and a walk.

For Baltic, Matt White allowed six runs on 10 hits and two walks in six innings pitched, striking out three. Dalton Garbers tallied three RBIS on two hits, a double and a home run, Ty Schafer had two hits, a walk, and an RBI, Jon Wilhelmsen added three hits, a double, and an RBI, while Ray Williams and Kooper Perry each drove in a run on one hit in the loss.
