June 27 Legion Baseball Roundup - Five-run seventh inning lifts Lennox past Colton

Lennox 7, Colton 6

LENNOX — Lennox scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh to stun Colton in Legion baseball action Friday.

Mason Reischl had two hits and two RBIs, Dayne Moeller added two RBIs on one hit, Preston Otte tallied two RBIs on a walk and the walk-off hit-by-pitch, D Winterboer added a hit, walk, and an RBI, while Cullen Wright tallied a hit and three walks in the win. Cole Spieler led Lennox on the mound allowing three runs on seven hits and a walk in 4.1 innings, striking out seven.

For Colton, Tristen Bunde allowed two runs on four hits and six walks in five innings of work, striking out five. Bunde drove in two runs on a double while Carter Sorenson, Mason Hemme, and Nathan Madison each drove in a run on one hit in the loss.


Redfield 6, Big Stone City 5

REDFIELD — Eli Morrissette struck out seven batters in three innings of relief as Redfield clipped Big Stone City during Friday’s Legion baseball action.

Morrissette allowed three unearned runs on one hit in three innings, fanning seven batters to take the win on the mound. Micah Zastrow drove in two runs on a walk, Chase Odland added two hits and an RBI, Tate Bray drove in a run on three walks while Jackson Rude and Morrissette each tallied two hits in the win.

For BSC, Avier Hughes allowed one run on two hits and three walks in 1.1 innings, striking out two. Kirby Olson tallied two hits and an RBI while Brandon Kaye drove in a run on one hit in the loss.


Groton 18, Lake Norden/Badger 0 (6 innings)

LAKE NORDEN — Brevin Fliehs drove in five runs as Groton earned a mercy rule victory over Lake Norden/Badger in Legion baseball Friday.

Fliehs batted 3-for-5 with a double and a homer, driving in five runs in the win, Nick Morris and Nick Groeblinghoff each drove in three runs on two hits and a walk, Lincoln Krause added two hits, a walk, and two RBIs, Korbin Kucker drove in a run on two hits and a walk, Teylor Diegel and Karsten Fliehs each had a hit and an RBI, while Carter Simon drove in two runs on a double in the win. Jarrett Erdmann earned the victory on the mound, allowing two hits and two walks in a complete game shutout, striking out six.

For LN/B, Ted Smith allowed eight runs on five hits and four walks in two innings of work. Smith and Rylan Thue each tallied a hit in the loss.


Madison 7, Volga 1

MADISON — Cohen Hahn and Quinn Flemming allowed just one hit on the mound as Madison defeated Volga in Legion baseball action Friday.

Hahn allowed one run on six walks in four innings while striking out five batters, while Flemming tossed three shutout innings, giving up just a hit and a walk, striking out two more batters. At the plate, Jordan Pedersen drove in a run on two hits and a walk, Quincy Kurtz, Cale Johnson, and Hahn each drove in a run on one  hit, while Tregg McGilivray and Casyn Crabtree each had RBIs in the win.

For Volga, Broden Teske allowed five runs on four hits and three walks in 4.2 innings, striking out two. Ethan Axtell tallied the only base hit of the game, driving in a run.


Gregory 7, Platte-Geddes 1 (4 innings)

PLATTE — A five-run inning powered Gregory to a Legion baseball victory over Platte-Geddes Friday.

Noah Bearshield drove in a run on a hit and two walks, J Schonebaum and Landon Keiser each added an RBI on a walk while Aiden Frasch tallied one hit in the win. Hudson Fuhrer took the win on the mound allowing one run on four hits and two walks in four innings, striking out four.

For PG, Hayden Sprik allowed seven runs on two hits and seven walks in four innings, striking out two. Kenyon Kuiper drove in a run on one hit while Maddux VanZee, Jye Bailey, and Keaton Christiansen each tallied hits in the loss.


Alexandria 4, Wagner 1

WAGNER — Tyler Sanderson struck out 12 batters as Alexandria defeated Wagner in Legion baseball action on Friday. 

Sanderson allowed two hits, one earned run and allowed five walks through 5.1 innings. Conner Endorf struck out two batters, allowed zero hits, zero runs and one walk through 1.2 innings for the save. 

Ben Wilber had a team-high three hits and Esten Schlimgen had two doubles. AJ Wilber, Carter Popp and Radek Jarding each had hits. 

For Wagner, Carter Cournoyer and Joey Cournoyer each had hits. Carter Cournoyer struck out 13 batters, allowed six hits, two earned runs and walked two batters through 6.2 innings for the loss. 


Parkston 4, Salem 1 (5 innings)

PARKSTON — Wyatt Anderson tossed five strong innings in Parkston’s Legion baseball win over Salem Friday.

Anderson gave up just one unearned run on three hits in 4.2 innings, striking out six in the process. James Deckert led the offense with two hits, one double, Taite Klumb drove in a run on one hit, while Carter Sommer, Kash Neugebauer and Jaxx Kurtenbach each collected hits in the win.

For Salem, Shea Klinkhammer allowed four runs on six hits and two walks in four innings, striking out six. Dawson Dorr had two hits while Klinkhammer drove in a run on one hit in the loss.


Rapid City Post 320 13, Brookings 1

BROOKINGS — Jhett Peterson drove in four runs as Rapid City Post 320 defeated Brookings in Legion action Friday.

Peterson drove in four runs on three hits, including two doubles, Max Speed added two RBIs on a hit and a walk, Colton Mehlhaff had an RBI on double and a walk, Noah Wald collected two hits, a double, walk, and an RBI while Jonah Blake drove in a run on a walk in the win. Landon Faatz led Post 320 on the mound allowing one unearned run on three hits and five walks in five innings, striking out three.

For Brookings, Talon Hyde allowed seven runs on four hits and three walks in four innings, striking out two. Winston Plummer, Jase Bauer, and Max Jensen each had hits in the loss.


Watertown 1, Rapid City Post 320 0 (8 innings) 

WATERTOWN — Carter Buisker’s walk-off sac fly lifted Watertown to a Legion baseball win on Friday. 

Watertown’s Mitch Olson finished with two hits, while Markus Pitkin, Talan Jurgens and Jonathan Lake each had hits. Jackson McClemans struck out four batters, allowed four hits, zero runs and zero walks in five innings. 

For Post 320, Tegan Sayles finished 2-for-3. Colton Mehlhaff and Max Schoenhard each had hits. Nolan Williamson struck out four batters, allowed five hits, one earned run and zero walks in 6.2 innings. 


Watertown 16, Rapid City Post 320 1 (5 innings)

WATERTOWN — Five different players drove in multiple runs apiece as Watertown defeated Rapid City Post 320 in mercy rule fashion Friday.

Nash Berg had one hit, one walk, and three RBIs, Treyton Himmerich added three RBIs on a double and two walks, Mitch Olson had two RBIs on two hits and a walk, Markus Pitkin collected two RBIs on a hit and a walk while Carter Bruisker had two RBIs on one hit. Cole Hansen had one RBI on a hit and two walks, while Hayden Reis and Kaden Rylance each tallied RBI singles in the win. Max Dylla allowed one run on five hits and two walks in three innings pitched for Watertown, striking out two.

For RC, Seth Lefebre allowed nine runs on five hits and three walks in 1.2 innings. Anders Locokhart drove in the only run for Post 320 on two hits in the loss.


Rapid City Post 22 3, Brookings 0

BROOKINGS — Rowan Frederickson tossed 5.2 no-hit innings as Rapid City Post 22 defeated Brookings in Legion action Friday.

Frederickson allowed just four walks in 5.2 innings, striking out seven batters to take the win on the mound. Wyatt Reeder drove in a run on one hit and one walk, Aiden Roberts added an RBI while Kain McLeod, Carter Johnson and Blayn Hunt each tallied a hit in the win.

For Brookings, Tyson Antonen allowed three runs on three hits and four walks in 6.2 innings. Cooper Schneider and Breck Wilson each tallied hits in the loss for Brookings.


Rapid City Post 22 13, Brookings 2 (5 innings)

BROOKINGS — Declan Mickley’s complete game on the mound lifted Post 22 to a Legion baseball victory over Brookings Friday.

Mickley allowed two runs on three hits and six walks in five complete innings, striking out seven batters. Kain McLeod drove in a run on two doubles, Lars Kieffer and Blayn Hunt each had two hits and an RBI as well, Dexter Steen added two RBIs on on two hits Carter Johnson tallied two RBIs on one hit, Jace Morgan and Brody Thompson each drove in a run on one hit and two walks, while Wyatt Reeder tallied two hits in the win for Post 22.

For Brookings, Kysin Reuer allowed 10 runs on eight hits and four walks in 3.2 innings, striking out two. Tyson Antonen tallied an RBI on one hit in the loss.


Renner Royals 11, Brandon Valley 5

RENNER — Brogan Moffit drove in four runs as Renner defeated Brandon Valley in Legion action Friday.

Moffit batted 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs, Brody Jacobsen tallied three hits, one double, and two RBIs, Jackson Bjorkman added two hits, one double, a walk, and two RBIs, while Zach Barr had two RBIs on one hit and one walk in the win. Rylan Arbogast earned the victory on the mound, allowing five runs on 10 hits and a walk in 6.2 innings, striking out eight.

For BV, Will VanLeur allowed four runs on three hits and four walks in four innings pitched, striking out two to take the loss. Bryton Stroh had three hits in the loss, Caleb Severin drove in a run on two hits while Brayden Knutson and Luke Smart each drove in a run on one hit in the loss.


Brandon Valley 15, Renner Royals 1 (6 innings)

RENNER — Christopher Joseph tossed 5.1 strong innings as BV split the doubleheader with Renner Friday.

Joseph allowed just one run on three hits and three walks in 5.1 innings, striking out five to earn the victory on the mound. Mason Veld had two RBIs on a double and three walks, Caleb Severin tallied two RBIs on a double and a walk, Bryton Stroh had two RBIs on a double, Max Peters and Luke Smart each drove in a run on two hits and a walk, while Ryland Carroll tallied an RBI single in the win.

For Renner, Paxton Sohn took the loss allowing seven runs on five hits and five walks in 3.2 innings, striking out four. Brogan Moffitt drove in a run on a solo homer and a walk, while Zach Sprenkle collected two hits in the loss.
