Colome Chaos 2, Wessington Springs Owls 1

COLOME — Carter Brickman struck out nine batters in a Pony Hills League amateur baseball victory on Thursday.

Brickman scattered five hits, allowed one earned run and one walk in his six-inning start. He added a hit at the plate. 

Layton Thieman finished 3-for-4, hit two doubles and drove in a run. Ethan Vobr had two hits, while Riley Orel and Cameron Biggins each had hits. Biggins drove in a run and hit a double. Vobr allowed one hit, one earned run, struck out one batter and walked one in three relief innings for the save.

For Wessington Springs, Trevor Kenobbie went 2-for-4 and had a double. Cade Mohling, Camden Jost, Dylan Schimke and Dalton Mogck each had hits. Mohling took the loss after allowing seven hits, one earned run and struck out three batters in six innings. 


Alexandria Angels 6, Parkston Devil Rays 4

PARKSTON — The Angels scored four runs in the top of the ninth to stun the Devil Rays in Sunshine League action Thursday night.

With the help of a couple errors, a Landon Ruesink double, and an RBI single by Jordan Gau, the Angels came back from a two-run deficit in the final frame.

Gau led the way with two hits, including a double and two RBIs.

Ruesink added his ninth inning double that scored one, while Cole Wenande and Jerrod Zens each tallied hits in the win.

Riley McSherry earned the victory on the mound, allowing six hits, five walks, and four runs, while striking out 14 in eight innings pitched.

For Parkston, Jonah Schmidt paced the offense with two hits, including a homer and two RBIs.

Seth Muth added a hit and three walks, Landon Sudbeck collected a hit and a walk, and Brayden Jervik drove in a run on a double.

Ty Neugebauer was the losing pitcher, giving up four hits, six walks, and six runs in 8.2 innings while striking out eight.


Winner/Colome Pheasants 16, Mount Vernon Mustangs 3 (7 innings)

MITCHELL — Connor Hopkins struck out 11 batters and Winner/Colome pounded out 15 hits in a Sunshine League amateur baseball win on Thursday at Cadwell Park.

Hopkins scattered eight hits, allowed three earned runs and walked three batters in seven innings. 

Hopkins received plenty of run support from the Pheasants, who recorded five extra-base hits. 

Aiden Barfuss paced Winner/Colome, finishing 3-for-4, driving in four runs and smacking a solo home run. Austin Calhoon went 3-for-5 and drove in two runs. Reed Harter went 2-for-4 and knocked in four runs, while Oscar Pravecek finished with two hits and three RBI. Drew DeMers added two hits, while Derek Graesser, Austin Richey and John DeMers each had hits. 

For Mount Vernon, Walker Hultgren, Chase Hetland and Brady Albrecht had two hits apiece. Daniel Laufman and Eric Giblin added hits. Deric Denning took the loss, allowing nine hits, seven earned runs, three walks and striking out one batter through four innings.


Tabor Bluebirds 3, Crofton Blue Jays (Neb.) 2

CROFTON — The Bluebirds hold off a late inning comeback to earn a South Central League victory Thursday night.

Brady Bierema, Riley Rothschadl, Hunter Hallock, Beau Rothschadl, and Bryce Scieszinski each tallied hits in win, with Scieszinski, Riley and Beau Rothschadl each driving in a run for Tabor.

Jared Miller earned the victory on the mound, giving up just two hits, a walk, and one earned run in seven innings while striking out 10.

Riley Rothschadl came on to close for Tabor, giving up one hit, three walks, and one earned run while striking out six.

For Crofton, James Kaiser took the loss on the mound, giving up five hits, two walks, and three runs, while striking out seven in 7.2 innings.

Zach Hegge recorded two hits on four at-bats, while Justin Potts tallied a hit in the loss as well.


Salem Cubs 8, Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks 3

SALEM — Tyler Earls’ complete game outing helped the Cubs defeat the Wood Ducks in Cornbelt League action Thursday night.

Earls gave up nine hits, one walk, and three earned runs while striking out seven to earn the victory on the mound for the Cubs.

Earls also led the team in hits with two, including a double and an RBI. Kyle Braun had just one hit and one walk but drove in two runs on a home run.

Cole Cheeseman and Tyler Cleveland each tallied hits in the win as well.

For HH, Andrew Zimmer earned the loss on the mound, giving up three hits, four walks, and five runs in six innings pitched.

Jearl Jesson led the team in hits with two including a double, while Zimmer and Gage Nelson each blasted solo home runs in the loss.


Lesterville Broncs 8, Yankton Tappers 5

LESTERVILLE — After going down early 5-1, Lesterville scored seven unanswered runs to stun Yankton in amateur baseball action Thursday night.

Ethan Wishon, Tyler Edler, and Derek Quame paced the Lesterville offense with two hits apiece, including a double by Edler and a homer from Quame, driving in a combined four runs.

Tanner Van Driel crushed a solo home run with two walks, while Michael Drotzmann and Hunter Martin each tallied a hit and an RBI in the win.

For Yankton, Drew Ryken earned the loss on the mound, giving up five hits, six walks, and six runs in 4.1 innings.

Joe Gokie led the way with two hits, including a home run and two RBIs, while Ryken knocked a solo homer as well.

Will Rauch and Sam Kampshoff each tallied hits in the loss.


Canova Gang 6, Madison Dairy Queen Broncos 0

MADISON — A Canova pitching trio combined to blank Madison in Cornbelt League action Thursday night.

Jack Neises, Derek Miller, and Tyler Genzlinger allowed just two hits and four walks in a complete game shutout while striking a combined 10 batters.

The Canova offense was highlighted by a solo home run off the bat of Jared Miller. Miller also tallied two walks and another RBI in the win.

Garrett Gassman drove in two runs on one hit, while Tim Gassman, Calab Carmichael, Cole Gassman, and Genzlinger each tallied hits.

For Madison, Peyton Wolf took the loss on the mound, giving up four hits, four walks, and three runs in four innings pitched, while striking out six.

Ty Jorgenson recorded the only two hits for Madison in the loss.


Hartford-Humboldt Gamecocks 12, Flandreau Blue Teal 0 (7 innings)

HUMBOLDT  — The Gamecocks jumped out to a nine-run lead in the first inning to blank Flandreau in Cornbelt League action Thursday night.

The bats were active for HH adding up to 12 hits, including six extra-base hits.

Ryan Healy, Chad Morrison, Jonah Rechtenbaugh, and Joe Hanisch each tallied multi-hit games, combining for eight hits and four RBIs.

Adam Hentges drove in the three runs on one hit, while Broc Haldeman, Nate Masloski, and Devon Garry each tallied hits in the win.

Blake Svoboda was the winning pitcher for HH, throwing 12 strikeouts in five shutout innings, giving up three hits and two walks. 

For Flandreau, Kolby Peters was the losing pitcher, allowing 12 hits, eight walks, and 12 runs while striking out five in six innings.

Sam Gassman, Paul McGlone, and Mason Riley each tallied hits in the loss.

 

Four Corners 8, Burke Bombers 7

BURKE — Burke had the tying run in scoring position but couldn’t get him in as Four Corners earned a Pony Hills League victory Thursday night.

River Iverson and Garrett Stout led the Four Corners offense with two hits apiece, including a double by Iverson and a double, triple, and two RBIs by Stout.

Justin Lester drove in two runs on one hit, while Brad Hand and Jack Van Camp each tallied hits in the win.

Stout was the winning pitcher for Four Corners, striking out eight batters in three innings, giving up two hits, a walk, and one earned run.

For Burke, Coy Determan earned the loss in 2.2 innings pitched, giving up one hit, one run, and seven strikeouts.

JJ Beck, Blake Boes, and Christian Schweigert each tallied two hits to pace the bombers offense, driving in a combined three runs.

Dan Jons blasted a three-run homer in the loss for the Bombers as well.


Plankinton Bankers 7, Chamberlain Mallards 6

PLANKINTON — Cain Tobin walked in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning to defeat Chamberlain in Pony Hills League action, Thursday night.

Tobin didn’t tally a hit in the ballgame but drew two walks that scored two runs to help Plankinton in the victory.

Griffin Tobin and Blaine Bohr led the Bankers with two hits apiece, while Thomas Stange and Teegan Schlimgen each had one hit and one RBI.

Stange was the winning pitcher, throwing three shutout innings to close out the win, giving up three hits, three walks, and four strikeouts.

For Chamberlain, Braydon Kreofsky took the loss in his relief outing, giving up one run on four walks.

Dakota Munger led the Mallards with a home run and a single driving in five runs for the game, while Sandler Wiekamp, Evan Stiener, and Mike Schwartz each tallied multi-hit games in the loss.


Platte Killer Tomatoes 8, Dimock-Emery Raptors 6 (11 innings)

EMERY — Richard Sternberg’s 11th inning double scored the go-ahead runs to knock-off the Raptors in Sunshine League action Thursday night.

Sternberg collected two hits including a two-RBI double, while also drawing one walk in six plate appearances for Platte.

Hayden Kuiper blasted two home runs for the ‘Mators, totalling four more RBIs, while Grant Hanson went 2-for-5, including a walk, a double, and a home run, driving in two runs of his own.

For DE, Phil Johnson earned the loss on the mound giving up two hits, two walks, and two runs in two innings pitched, while striking out two.

Landon Waddell led the offense with three hits, while Gene Kitchens and Colton Plagmann each drove in two runs on one hit.

Peyton Nash and Chase Arend each collected two hits in the loss as well.
